Definitely worth it, debated this or going on our own via train and walking to the castle. So glad we went this route instead. Staff was fantastic, friendly, helpful and went out of their way to ensure the trip was nothing but pleasant. Live guide at the castle clearly loves what she does and was so fun, knowledgeable had great facts and stories.

Guide knew the castle like the back of her hand. Driver Simon knew the landscape and provided us with interesting tidbits that we were not aware of about the area. Like the storkes and moose.

The trip is titled Malbork Castle tour but I'd have to say that I learned more about Poland on the hour travel to and back than I did on the actual tour. Simon provided so many interesting stories. I would gladly book another trip with him.
Regarding the castle, it is beautiful and I am so glad that they could reconstruct so much after WWII destruction. I really liked the draw bridges and gates. Our tour guide was well informed. I also enjoyed seeing the individual living quaters and the grand rooms. The only part of the tour that i felt was not needed is the amber exhibit as these can be seen in the Amber museum in Gdansk. There are a few negatives. This is not a place for the physically handicapped. There are many steps, some without handrails. I use a cane and had trouble maneuving several stairs. Also, most of the pathways are made up of uneven height stones which were difficult for many of our group after 3 hours of walking.

Really nice castle & the biggest in the world too.
Definitely worth visiting. Even though we did it in Poland's coldest winter in 20 years, it felt warranted.

The tour of the castle was great. Our guide was very knowledgeable. I felt like we saw the main parts if the castle in the 3 hours that we had.

It was a great experience seeing the castle. The guide was very knowledgeable and learned a lot of history. The transport there and back seemed rushed. I feel like they could extend the tour by and hour and let people explore Malbork the city or even have time to grab a quick lunch or souvenir.

Great trip - The shuttle driver gave us interesting background on the history of Poland and Gdansk on the way. Our guide at the Castle - Alessia- was fantastic. Her knowledge was vast and she rearranged our route so we could see things and avoid the downpour of rain. It’s a lot to see in the time allocated but well worth doing

Far shorter than expected trip - ended by the half day mark. I wonder if there could be a slightly longer and deeper program. In either way the guide is an on-site guide and likely have far less to do with the tour organizer itself. There’s some very minor punctuality slips re: pick up when we were leaving the castle but none too significant….

Hi Philip, thank you for your review. The tour takes 4-5 hours in total, including transportation. The tour in Malbork Castle is provided by licensed guides directly from the Museum. Malbork is a massive place composed of three levels (upper, middle, and lower) sections of the castle. The work to restore the castle and maintain its beauty are excellent. Viator arranged for the driver (Simon) to pick us up at the hotel. We were in a group of 4, including ourselves. Simon is extremely knowledgeable about the area and the history, so you can learn quite a bit from him during the drive from/to Gdansk to/from Malbork. Simon explained the credentials of our guide Alicija, who has 47 years of experience with Malbork. Her knowledge is endless and she is a joy to be with. You will need every second of the 4 hours at Malbork to experience/learn its history. Go as early as you can as there are many tour groups.

Malbork Castle and driver were 5 stars. The booking experience was 1 star. After I was charged for the tour I was notified it would be canceled because I was the only traveler. I asked if I could make it a private tour. I was told I would have to book another person. Since I was traveling and couldn't look for another option in 2 days I agreed. Once I was charged I was told I would not have a tour guide but audio. Again I agreed because it was the day before. I was told I would be compensated but I did not get an amount even though I asked.I got the audio but the driver got the ticket on his phone so I didn't have one. I barely got in and couldn't get into a special exhibit because I didn't have a ticket. So a driver -Uber would have been less than 100 dollars - and a 20 or 30 dollar ticket cost me almost 300. Not value for a self guided tour. Very disappointed as I had good experiences with Viator in Japan and Peru. Obviously other tours don't have same problem as a bus for the Castle stopped in front of my hotel when I was leaving.

It was a really nice tour. The driver was pleasant and guide was knowledgeable, so that 3 hours long castle walking passed without even being aware. As it was the off season, there were not many visitors, hence it was easy to move around.

Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the castle. She provided historical background as well as interesting anecdotes throughout the tour. Did not pick me up or drop me off at my hotel despite saying that they would. The driver spoke excellent English but chose not to say a word on the way there or the way back. The guide at the castle did not speak excellent English and I only understood about 60 percent of what she said. There are many steps and rugged cobblestones at the castle. I felt bad for a lady in our group who had to sit out a lot because it was difficult to get around. We were rushed the whole time. No time for the gift shop or taking pictures or getting a water before the way back. Just awful.

We clearly informed you, that there is a fair in the city and our cars are not allowed to go directly to your hotel. There is a time either for gifts or getting a water, and our drivers communicated the breaks after the tour. What is more, the driver should focus on the road while driving for safety reasons. Nicely organized. Driver showed up on time in a clean, comfortable Mercedes. When we arrived at the castle he brought over our English speaking guide and we spent the morning with her. Very interesting history and we enjoyed our visit. I thought this was a shared tour, but was surprised it was only us. Only negative was driver did not speak english. Could have made the drive a bit more interesting.

What an amazing tour! The size of this castle is unreal! Even after a three hour guided tour I can only estimate that I saw about 20% of the place. We only saw the main Castle areas and still passed multiple doors and stairs (certainly it was mostly because theses were not areas accessible by tourists). There is still a lot of renovations happening. I only wish that this tour offered some time to wander on our own and to visit the multiple gift and souvenir vendors.
