We recently did the food tour with Gerry and it was such a great experience with amazing food, wonderful atmosphere and the best tour guide! If you truly want a personalized tour and not have to think about where to go or what to do and just relax and enjoy, do this!!!! You won’t regret it.

A wonderful guided tour around Galway. We were able to sample food/drinks at 4 locations and hear stories of the city. It was great fun and the host (Gerry) was very personable. I’d love to do this tour again if I’m back in Galway.

Our tour guide, Gerry was fun and informative. He told us a lot of fun facts about Galway.
The tour itself was not what we expected. We do a food tour in every country we visit and it has always been tapas at 4-5 stops. This one was different. We did make 4 stops, but they inclusively made one meal. The first stop included a big bowl of seafood chowder. The second stop was a full sized meal. The third stop was a dish of ice cream, and the fourth stop was an Irish coffee. The tour wasn't bad, it just wasn't what I expected.

Gerry was prompt and friendly, immediately sharing interesting facts about the surrounding area as we walked to our first location. The different food stops combined with Gerry’s interesting and informative historical commentary made for a wonderful afternoon. We felt like we made a friend in Galway! Our time with Gerry was grand. We met up with him and he took us to some fun and quaint locations. Some of these spots were places we had considered going on our own. The food was great as was the conversation at the table. While walking off the calories, Gerry gave us some history of places we passed. An overall great way to spend the afternoon. I will consider an earlier time to start if possible as the 2:30 tour is right between lunch and dinner. We made due however. The food we ate set us up for a great Happy Hour at the end of the tour. Thanks for the goodtime Gerry!

We have done lots of food tours in cities around the world. I always do my research as they are not cheap and if they’re not great can ruin impressions of a city. That said I took a bit of a chance with there being varying opinions on this tour. I will say I am so glad I did. We had an amazing time with Gerry. The weather was warm and sunny and our group was a mixture of people from different parts of the world. We had our 6 year old with us but didn’t book him on the tour as he is picky and if we found something he’d like he could always have some of ours.
The food portion of the tour is like a 4 course meal with starter, main, dessert and after dinner drink. The starter was a bowl of seafood chowder with Irish bread. We’d had this elsewhere and it was comparable although different than what you’d find down in Watertown. You can get the first Guiness here if you like. We went to one place where there was a menu item we hadn’t seen elsewhere in Ireland (bacon and cabbage) so of course one of us had that and the other the tried and true fish and chips. The dessert was ice cream where our son did get his own at Gerry’s insistence. The chocolate whiskey flavor was incredible. And we wrapped up at a pub with a true Irish coffee which was the perfect end to the tour and day. Each course was delicious and while as one review mentioned you could likely find them on your own, that isn’t what you’re paying for. We thought Gerry was engaging and full of stories and history and that was more than worth the price of admission. Everyone we met while on the tour was genuine and welcoming.
We saw parts of Galway that we’d seen before but learned more about and places we’d have totally missed if not for the tour. Our 6 year old stayed occupied for the whole tour and didn’t tire out as I thought he might. He even got to meet a Saint Bernard puppy at one stop and they were nice enough to pose him with our son for a picture. It was the perfect blend of walking and eating.
I would not hesitate to book this tour and although there may be an off day, as we all have, the opportunity to spend over 3 hours with someone born and raised in Galway was most definitely a pleasure and we hope to be back one day.

Gerry was an absolute gem; personable, friendly, and fun. The weather in Galway that day included a driving rain, so our time touring between venues was minimal, but Gerry made it special. Four stops included appetizers (a small main), a main meal, ice cream, and Irish coffee. Highly recommend.

Our tour guide Gerry was very knowledgeable about Galway and took us to great restaurants that are local favorites. The food and drinks were plenty and I would take this tour again. You get options when you go to each restaurant and whatever you choose will be delicious.
