Katie and John were fun and hospitable. The drive is about 30 minutes outside of Galway. Please make sure to use Google maps not Apple Maps when inputting the directions. We made the most delicious scones and wonderful brown bread and had tea and coffee and enjoyed it!! Can recommend for cooks of all each is Katie owned the restaurants and cafés in town so this is all like a nature for her. He had a fun banter with our 11 and 13-year-old who were a bit shy. Certainly enjoyed the experience highly recommend.

Amazing experience and I felt very welcome in their home. After making scones and bread on the island we sat down and ate the scones with some tea, chatting and looking at the beautiful gardens. Can’t recommend this enough. I was looking for an authentic Irish experience that was a nice slow down to the hustle and bustle of our trip. I loved seeing their dog and they even took me to the bus stop afterwards. Also the food was delicious!

Wow, what a great class! Kate is extremely knowledgeable about baking and she explains everything really well . She is also kind enough to pick you up and drop you off at the Kilcogan bus stop if needed. She's also very funny and gave us a couple pots of tea while waiting. Highly, highly recommended!

We enjoyed this class in Kate’s beautiful home and the scones were delicious! Directions were easy to follow and we were happy to take some treats home with us. A must do if you are in the Galway area!

We had public transport snafu and arrived late. Thankfully, Kate was accommodating and we were still able to bake delicious treats! I plan to make both the scones and bread again when I get home!
This is definitely easier if you have a car. Google maps didn't have good information and we were unable to figure out a bus that would work. A taxi is going to run you ~40 euro each way.

The bread and scone baking class with Kate was an absolute highlight of our trip to Ireland! I joined with five friends from the U.S., and we all agreed it was the most memorable part of our six days in the country. If there is one thing you must do when traveling to Ireland is booking this scone making class with Kate. Her home is absolutely beautiful. She has a magnificent garden and the sweetest pup name Coco.
When you first arrive, she has the kitchen, ingredients and materials prepared. There was a group before us and the house smelled divine! Once you get started, she makes sure to walk you through each step and makes sure you are doing it correctly. She also takes the time to get to know you while sharing about herself as well. She is quite the impressive woman.
Once you’re done making the scones and brown bread, she sets up her sun room so beautifully, it literally feels like a movie scene. We then sit down and have scones, bread, coffee and tea with different jams and Irish butter. She has a unique selection of jams you can purchase (the gin and tonic is VERY good). I purchased 3: apricot jam, red onion chili pepper jam and strawberry jam.
This was truly a one of kind experience! Can’t wait to go home and try the scones recipe!

Walking into Kate’s home was a delight! Her neighborhood was idyllic. She was lovely. I enjoyed making scones and brown bread, enough to take home and enjoy. Kate’s garden was teeming with life, from beautiful lettuce to the lavender that I used in my scones! It was incredible and I would love to take more classes on future trips.

Kate provided a wonderful experience in fun and delicious cooking class. We arrived early (concerned we might have trouble finding the place. Following the link to the address through google maps made it easy. We left with bread and scones to share! Highly recommend.

You will have a wonderful experience with Kate. If you are looking for an experience cooking or baking in someone's home, making Irish specialities, then this is for you. Kate was warm, welcoming and patient as she taught us the finer points of baking traditional scones and brown bread that were absolutely delicious, and then enjoying them in her lovely sun room (or outside in her beautiful garden, weather permitting) with lots of Irsh butter, jams and freshly brewed tea. A lovely time was had by all. Thank you Kate!
