Our guide Amir was outstanding. He shared his knowledge about Neuschwanstein and history which made this tour much more interesting. He has a great sense of humor. It’s obvious that he enjoys his work and he shared that joy with us on the tour.
The tour of the palace/castle itself is via audio tour (30 minutes) in groups of about 25 with someone leading the groups through the rooms.
This tour via Viator included a horse drawn carriage ride down the hill.
I highly recommend this tour.

Caroline was friendly and informative. The history she shared was extremely insightful. Group inside castle could have been smaller but know Caroline had no control over this. When the 1st person entered a room the audio tour started but if you were the last person you’ve missed some of the audio presentation

Was a great tour booked last minute Stephen the guide was very friendly and had a good knowledge of the Castle and its history. Weather was not great big early winter storm but still enjoyed.

Fantastic tour from start to finish. Stephen was an incredibly knowledgeable and talented tour guide. I really appreciated his patience, passion and insight. The castle was very beautiful and fun. The interior castle portion of the tour is an audio guide where you are herded around in a large group from one room to the next, which is not the greatest experience, but you don't feel rushed and you do end up getting a good look at the interior.
The Viator guide meets you at the parking lot and then takes you on a bus ride up to the castle. Along the way, the guide provides a lot of history of the castle, the family that built it, and the region. You then get to spend a few minutes on the bridge before the interior tour. After the interior tour, the guide meets back up with the group and provides more history. Our guide was very knowledgeable, and it was well worth doing the tour through Viator with a guide vs. just showing up and doing the interior tour on your own.

there is a lot of background history of the family dynasty. it is not just looking at a fairytale castle. just fyi, If you have bad knees there are lots of steps!. Steven was super!! we enjoyed it.

Amir did a good job of explaining history of the castle and telling about Ludwig life and accomplishments. Group size was a bit large - difficult to hear and get instructions on when group was moving on. Would be nice to be given voucher for horse buddy ride down after. Group moved on while we were taking pictures and we were left to walk down.

We had Caroline as our guide and she was was lovely and knowledgeable. Her telling of Ludwig’s story was well-paced and gave us a greater appreciation for the narration once inside the castle.

With our lovely guide Caroline we had a great trip with the bus up to the castle, a wonderfull set of stories about the king, his parents , family and wagner. In the castle we had to do the audiotour (so no Caroline, alas) but that was ok too. To see the set of finished rooms was fabulous. And we were very lucky with a clear blue sky. For the way back our guide arranged horse and carriage transport ( hybrid so the horses do not do all the hard work). We had great fun with our usa/ brazil/ hungary/dutch tour- mates. Reaching the conclusion that Ludwig might not have been the best king for his people but probably better than the current leaders in our respective nations. And maybe… he should have been the one to live with Sisi…

One down on our bucket list. Great trip !!

Too long! The tour guide was fine, but the tour needs to be an hour shorter. Wasted a good part of our day, and didn’t do the carriage ride at the end because the line was too long. Walked down instead.

Wonderful experience even on a rainy day. Steven was a great guide. There are no headphones so stand near your guide if you are hard of hearing. There are many steps and uphill inclines.

Couldn’t ask for a better tor guide! Stephen was kind, attentive, knowledgeable, and pleasant! The kids loved the horse and carriage ride down! Bummed you can’t take pictures inside the castle.
