Overview
Experience riding a camel on the beaches of Essouira with this guided tour lasting approximately three hours. You can go any time during the day, but it is recommended to go at sunset. This is a small group tour, with a maximum of 10 people. You'll be given a briefing to prepare you, then set off along the beaches, to eucalyptus forests, and explore villages and ancient ruins along the way, and also stop for a picnic.

Mostafa provided an amazing experience from start to finish! His dromadaries are very well taken care of and you can tell he loves them like family. The snack was lovely with fresh treats. He took beautiful pictures for us too!! This is a must do experience!!

- it’s not a camel, it’s a dromedary (one hump lol)
- mustafa was super kind host. Appreciated how he shared about how he takes cares of these camels
- mustafa really takes care of the full experience
- in the middle of the ride, there is a mint tea and snack break. Mustafa makes a small fire in the middle of the “forest”
- gets super windy so layer up. Sunglasses are recommended. Also super sandy!
- when you meet up with mustafa, he will drive you to the nearby beach (3 min drive), gear you up to sit on the camel and then you will go! 3 hour experience total.

The experience with Mustafa was truly incredible. We were honestly surprised, especially because camel rides can sometimes feel a bit like Disneyland. But this was completely different. Everything was extremely well handled and beautifully delivered — the ride itself, the duration, the route, all of it.
What really made the difference, though, was Mustafa’s attitude and presence. The moment he set up the camp, prepared the fire, and invited us to share tea, bread, and cookies with him and the team was something very special.
This became a true highlight of our journey. I couldn’t recommend it more — it was genuinely extraordinary. Thank you.

Our tour guide was Mostafa. He is a wonderful person and extremely dedicated to his job. At his advice, we started our trip 30-minutes ahead of schedule. At the meeting point he found me before I finished writing my message. Midway in our ride, he cooked tea at a site away from the ocean gust and we shared stories before we rode along the beach with the sunset in our background. When the temperature dropped he pulled out blankets for us to use poncho. Throughout this three-hours journey, Mostafa stopped our family of four at different spots to take pictures. As we rode in the sunset, Mostafa worked more like a movie director or cameraman than a camel ride guide. When we finished our ride in three hours at where we started, the sunset also completed at the same time. That’s the reason for Mostafa to requested us starting ahead of schedule. So Mostafa made the experience both enjoyable and memorable. This excursion easily became the highlight of our five-days trip to Essaouira.

This was the only tour we booked ahead, drawn by the lure of a camel on the beach at sunset. What we received was so much more. Mostafa is as warm heated as he is enterprising and gave us a really warm welcome and wonderful experience, complete with mint tea over à fire in the forest and homemade treats. His camels are well cared for, well-behaved and his explanations of the land and people were engaging. We will definitely do this again. Don’t hesitate, treat yourself to the experience.

An unforgettable experience! Mostofa is an animated, warm, knowledgeable guide, full of humor and generosity. My daughter and I had a magical afternoon on Sultan and Mamoun (dromedaries, not camels) as they strode over the sand dunes into the eucalyptus groves where we dismounted for a delicious snack of bread (made by Mostada's mother which he then toasted on the open fire), olives, argan oil, and pastries made by his sisters. We then rode back by the beach as the sun set. Of all the places you can ride a camel/dromedary in Morocco, I feel this is the most spectacular and varied because of the gorgeous stretch of dunes, beach, and ocean. Couldn't recommend this experience more highly!

Mostafa was a delight in every possible way. We had great experience with Lima's sunset camel ride. He is not only a very skillful camel diver, but also a wonderful photographer. The video he made for us impressed everyone. During the tea break in the wood, he shared his story about life and family, we felt the gold in the heart of a good man, which is a surprising bonus we brought back from the trip. Brilliant ride out, both our dromedaries were friendly and well kept. The ride was really comfortable and well padded. Our guide Mostafa was friendly, spoke excellent English and French, took fabulous pictures for us all, and made the best tea I had in all of our time in Morocco, which he served with beautiful bread made by his mother and warmed on a camp fire. The ride was supposed to be 3 hours but took nearly 4. My son and I both throughly enjoyed this, I have never paddled in the sea on the back of a dromedary before. A great and memorable experience. We had Mustafa’s tour recommended by a previous visitor and the trip did not disappoint. TAKE THIS TOUR. You have about a 1 hour ride to a ‘forest’ area where Mustafa will light a small fire and prepare tea as part of a small snack, you will then return to your starting point as the sun sets. Mustafa took several videos and pictures for us to help remember the ride. Please note that there will be a significant temperature drop from the time you ride out until you return - just be prepared and it will increase your enjoyment of the experience.

If you're ever in Essaouira, this is something you simply must do. Mostafa is cool, funny, and a great host. You'll enjoy a breezy ride along the beach, stop for tea and homemade bread in a stand of trees, and make your way back with a beautiful Moroccan sunset in the background. And when Mostafa asks for your camera or phone, hand it over! He's an excellent photographer who really knows how to frame up a shot! You'll walk away with many fantastic pictures and a great memory!

Our guide, Mostafa, met us in a square just outside the walls of Essaouira, and drove us to the beach where his camels were located. He was prompt, competent, polite and very knowledgeable. He took particular care to ensure that my eight year old grand daughter had a good time with her camel. His tour was exactly as advertised, and included a mid-ride stop where we rested while he prepared tea and offered delicious, hand made snacks he had brought from home. Throughout the ride, he shared stories about his life with us, and asked us many questions about our experiences in Morocco. He also took the time to use all our cameras to take photos for us. All in all a most enjoyable three hours; a highlight of our time in Essaouira. Highly recommended; we have ridden camels in five countries on three continents, this was the best trip of all of them.

This was one of our favorite experiences in Morocco. What an amazing evening - riding camels across the sand dunes, sharing tea and bread and family stories with our guide, watching the sun set across the ocean. Surreal and beautiful. Personally I would have selected 2 hours instead of 3 hours because I was alone and you ride behind one another and not next to. I had been on a camel 2 other times, but never riding for hours like this. It’s a nice experience and if you never rode a camel, I would recommend it, even if just for an hour.
Temperature was a little cool and breezy - I went at 9:45 am which I personally prefer over sunset. I wore sneakers, a workout pants, a t shirt, and a sweater - I was perfectly dressed and liked this time.
Most people ride camels in the desert, however, I did enjoy the beach because it’s much closer to get to, and you can experience sand and water.
If you’re looking for great photography- for either yourself or your Instagram, then this is the guide for you. I was dressed in the attire of a camel rider which made for great photography and a sense that you are experiencing what riding used to be like. Very pleased with the memories and now I can remember them forever.

My wife and i just completed our camel ride at sunset, the whole trip was very well organized by Mostafa. We were met on time by his assistant who has a taxi waiting for us, and we arrived at the beach where we joined the rest of the riders and we outfitted with clothing for the ride and a bottle of water. During our ride Mostafa took many great pictures with our camera and was very much into this tour as a guide. We stopped for a nice break with tea, and snacks which Mostafa and his guides prepared for us on the sand in a tree area. Back on the camels for a ride along the beach for a ride back to where we started, he took many great memory pictures of us with our camera. After we arrived back he made sure we got in our taxis for our return to the pickup spot and paid the taxi driver again, We would like to thank Mostafa for a great adventure on a lovely well organized tour and his helpers as well, would recommend this tour to anybody.
