The factory is really impressive, and tour facilities good and located in the factory itself. Our guide was great and insightful and we learned so much about the process of tea production form growing to brewing. Fantastic for teens in our case, and really memorable. All capped with extraordinary views- really breathtaking

We had a great time at the Halpewatte tea factory and had an excellent tour guide, Parami. Parami was very knowledgeable, patient, and a very friendly person who guided us through the factory. We learned so much on our tour, and got to make our own tea + taste test different teas the factory makes! It was a great experience, definitely recommend it :)

I had the pleasure of joining the Handmade Tea Tour, and it was absolutely delightful!
The first part of the tour took us to the tea plantation, where we learned about tea cultivation, the tea tree, and its history. I was a bit worried that this part might be skipped since it was raining, but everything went smoothly despite the weather.
In the second part, my guide, Nethmi, was fantastic. She explained the tea leaf preparation methods in detail, demonstrated everything, and shared a lot of interesting insights. While the tea leaves were drying, we had a fascinating tour of the factory.
The tour concluded with a tea-tasting session, where I got to try my own tea and several other varieties.
Thank you for such a wonderful experience

Such a fun and memorable experience in Sri Lanka! We got to go tea picking and learn about the hard work that goes into each plantation, have a tour of the factory and make our own green tea. It was all so fun and we learnt so much about the process. At the end we got a tea tasting of the main different types of teas and also got to taste tea made from our group. Highly recommend

When we arrived to the factory there was no one around and we were unsure where to walk to find someone. No one from the tour came down to meet us. There were no workers today as it was a weekend/holiday - I was SO disappointed! This type of information should be disclosed ahead of time in your description. After stating my sadness and disappointment the guide left us to pluck tea leaves by ourselves. Then a local woman who works at the plantation showed up and picked with us for a little bit. The description says ""including traditional worship at a nearby kovil"" - does this mean stopping by the Bodhi tree? When I looked up the word ""kovil Sri Lanka"" the definition is a Hindu temple. I feel that your description wording is misleading. If the Bodhi tree is the kovil, then we did not see any traditional worship - nothing was at the tree as there weren't any workers there the day we went. We enjoyed learning about how to steam and dry tea leaves. We also enjoyed walking through the factory and seeing what some of the gigantic machines do. Imagine what we missed by not feeling, hearing and learning with a factory actively working. We did a quick and basic tea tasting and that was it…never given a cup of tea to sip and enjoy. We did not even receive a little discount when buying tea after our tea experience. I was disappointed about our experience - we like partaking in authentic experiences and this one did not feel authentic to us.

I don't normally book tours but my friend really wanted to do this. I can not rate this highly enough we had the best day learning everything about tea! We picked tea in the field, dried it, got to drink and take home our own tea. You might think how much is there to learn about tea cause that's where my head was at but I left blown away by the history and hard work that goes into every cuppa. Our guide Himendra was very knowledgeable and kind.
