    I did the 4am hike with Sam and it was absolutely excellent. He has a calm demeanour, a perfect amount of chitchat for that time in the morning, and shared a lot of interesting knowledge about the crops being grown en route. He was also very considerate & helped guide my feet when I was stumbling, and took us back a different route so I could see the waterfall. The views for sunrise were breathtaking. I was nervous to do this solo, hoping a group would be going, but it was a great experience. It took 4 hours total, with 1 hour sitting at the top watching the sunrise. It's very steep and uneven (tree roots, rocks, mud) going up so beware of this if you're considering it!

    Ella Rock Guided Trip

    You can climb Ella Rock with just fee payable too top to the National Park. By the time you have arranged a ride and collection, paid park tickets etc… I’d highly recommend this hike as everything is organised and guided. Lots if info on the area and anything you need to know about plants trees etc. plus you will know where to go as the bottom part isn’t signed well or obvious unless you are Lucky enough to follow someone else who knows where they’re going.

    We had some difficulties contacting the operator but the night before the tour I received a message from the tour guide Sam and we went hiking as planned. It seems many operators in Ella are having issues due to cancellations from the cyclone. Regardless, we had amazing time with Sam, who was really friendly and seems to know all the towners. Thanks Sam for amazing pictures!

    I got stood up. I couldn't reach the tour operator, they never answered my calls or messages. I waited at 4am for a pick up that never came and lost my only chance to visit the place at sunrise. No explanations, nothing. I got a message from Viator the refund is on it's way but still haven't heard anything from the tour operator.

On that particular day, we experienced unexpected severe weather conditions in the Ella area, which affected early morning operations and transportation safety. Unfortunately, due to these circumstances, the tour could not proceed as scheduled. We truly regret that we were unable to communicate this to you in time — this is not the level of service we aim to provide. Your refund has already been processed through Viator, and we fully respect their resolution process. However, we deeply regret the inconvenience and frustration caused. We are reviewing our internal communication procedures to ensure this type of situation is handled much better in the future.     Jeewa is incredible and adds so much more than doing this without a guide

    Incredibly well organised. Jeewa was ready and waiting to pick us up from our hotel to start our 4am sunrise hike. He organised everything in terms of torches/water and was incredibly welcoming from the first moment. This is a hike that many tourists can do on their own but Jeewa added so much more to the experience. He was full of information on the animals and the fauna and just added a wonderful touch to the overall morning. The hike itself is easy with some moderate areas. It is signposted but certainly not easy without a guide in the dead of night! The view itself was breathtaking and worth the early start. There are two viewpoints so be sure to check both out. I 100% recommend this you and Jeewa is an incredible guide. You will not be disappointed.

    Worthwhile trip with breathtaking views

    Our Guide Jeewa was fantastic. He was very punctual, picking us up on time from our hotel and whizzing us off to the beautiful Ella rock. He provided us with some head torches which were super handy for making the way up the dark path which felt like a real adventure. Jeewa was full of knowledge and told us some very interesting information about the local area and helped us to identify all the different fruits and vegetables that were being grown. We were lucky in that he took us past all the crowds at the top of Ella Rock to a breathtaking view point where we were able to watch the sun rise. On making our way back down, the views were incredible and it felt like a whole new adventure. Once reaching the bottom, we were treated to a stop off at a local cafe for a wonderful refreshing cup of tea. On top of all this, Jeewa is a fantastic photographer and captured some amazing photos of the two of us. I would highly recommend this trip - thank you :)

    Breathtaking views

    The climb of the Rock of Ella was just amazing with breathtaking views. It was difficult at times but well worth the hike. Our guide Jeewa was really friendly and courteous and he was very good. He had great knowledge about the local information as well as about the fauna and flora. We enjoyed a really great experience in his company. Thank you.

    Tolles Erlebnis mit freundlichem Guide Jeewa

    Unser Guide Jeewa hat uns pünktlich um 4 Uhr morgens an unserem Hotel abgeholt und ist mit uns zum fuß des Ella Rock gefahren. Er hatte stirnlampen für uns dabei, die uns bei der Wanderung in der Dunkelheit sehr geholfen haben. Die Wanderung ist ein wenig anspruchsvoll, vor allem, da es ein paar stellen gibt, an denen man bei rutschigen Felsen aufpassen muss. Oben am Berg beim Sonnenaufgang hat Jeewa den Eintritt für uns bezahlt und ganz viele tolle Fotos von uns gemacht. Auf dem Weg nach unten, hat er uns auch noch viele Informationen zu den Pflanzen, die dort wachsen, gegeben. Insgesamt war es eine tolle Erfahrung und es hat sich gelohnt zu früh aufzustehen. Vielen Dank an unseren Guide Jeewa, der uns ein besonderes Erlebnis beschert hat.
