You’ll spend about 9 hours in a bus; 4 on unpaved roads. Our guide offered very little in terms of information or context. He was a nice person, but a poor guide. The sea lions were seen only from a far, so disappointing. The penguins were amazing.

Though advertised obliquely as a 4x4 adventure, this trip was by high-clearance 32-seat truck.
Nontheless, it proved appropriate for the 400 km drive diectly east from El Calafate, across morraine shingle and scrub. This journey provided a spectacular introduction to the unique Patagonian Steppe. The return trip, along sealed roads, was over 550 km and somewhat arduous.
However, what disappointed was the penguin colony at Monte Leon. Supposedly 40,000 pairs of nesting birds, but aside from one or two individual stragglers, we couldn't get anywhere near them; and nor the sea lions!
On top of this, the performance of the translator was poor throughout - Spanish spoken for 5-10 mins at a time, with just a couple of paragraphs in English then thrown in from time to time.
I don't object to practicing my rudimentary Spanish, but for English-speaking travellers who have selected this aspect specifically - inaedquate and a let-down for an otherwise exciting experience.

This was a well-organized tour which I don’t think is for everyone.
The bus was great, modern Mercedes bus with excellent WiFi which is important given lack of data outside El Calafete. There’s a tiny bathroom in the bus. Comfortable seats.
Guide was very friendly, spoke excellent Spanish and English.
He provided us with details of the tour and made sure we’re all ok and satisfied.
Keep in mind the tour took 14.5 to 15 hours, with at least 10 hours on the road (5 hours each way). You make 1 stop to relax on the way there.
Most of the roads are void of human life but have many animals to see around. Beautiful nature.
They provided us with a bag with many snacks, also unlimited water.
To see the penguins you’d have to walk 2.5 kilometers each way, flat mostly so not too bad.
First stop at a restaurant for coffee or snacks was about 7 hours after tour started but again you have a large snack bag and a small bathroom on the bus.
On the road to Monte Leon you’d have to take a gravel road which is bumpy and very loud that I could barely hear the guide talk even when he was using the microphone.
Overall very long tour but very special especially if you want to see penguins and like the nature and want to relax. I recommend this company.

The guide deserves 5 stars , she is new but very attentive and friendly , explains every detail and historical ! the trip was long , but it is worth it also deserves 5 stars! The landscape is magnificent in the middle of Patagonia ! very guanaco guanaco ....
We know the life of penguins face to face and much more! The vehicle has internet that makes me happier kkk!
