Overview

Take a break from the quaint towns and beaches to see another side to Vis with this tour of the island’s former military landmarks. Visit Fort George used by the British, submarine tunnels and a former airport from WWII, plus underground tunnels used by the Yugoslav army. Great Way to See Vis Island and Learn About Its Historical Significance

This was a great tour to learn about the history of Vis Island and explore some fascinating sites. Our guide, Karim, was outstanding. There were nine people in the group and we had two vehicles with plenty of space. The tour included an interesting range of sites. From Fort George (built at the beginning of the 19th century) to an airfield built by the Allies in 1944, to underground tunnels built by Tito in the 1950s. Karim had lots of interesting facts about the sites we visited and the high points provided great views of the island. Would definitely recommend this tour.

Karin is a great guide! The tour is both entertaining and educational. The submarine bunkers and gun emplacements are fascinating and Karim does a great job of explaining the functionality and engineering. The views if the island also provide great photo ops. Definitely recommend.
