Our Authentic Garden to Table Cooking Class in the Dubrovnik countryside was a highlight of our Croatia trip. From the beautiful setting to the excellent food and warm hospitality, it was far more than a cooking class—it was a truly memorable experience.
Nike and Katarina were wonderful hosts: welcoming, personable, and made us feel like guests in their home. The class was very hands-on, and they clearly and patiently explained the ingredients, techniques, and traditions behind each dish. We prepared bread, pasta (which I struggled with but they made look easy!), a flavorful chicken stew with a memorable sauce we hope to recreate in our own kitchen, and a light fig cake for dessert.
The setting was beautiful, surrounded by countryside and the family garden. Using fresh ingredients direct from the garden, made the experience feel especially authentic, and everything we prepared for lunch was delicious.
What stood out most was the combination of great food, a stunning location, hands-on learning, and genuine Croatian hospitality. It offered a wonderful glimpse into local life that we wouldn’t have experienced otherwise by staying in town.
We highly recommend this class to anyone visiting Dubrovnik. If you’re looking for something authentic, personal, and memorable, this is a must-do. Nike and Katarina created an experience we will remember long after our trip to Croatia.

Authentic rural farm experience with cultural emphasis on food, family, gardening and cooking/wine. Relaxed atmosphere, very kind host family that engage in conversation easily. Once in a lifetime opportunities with incredible views in Konavle.

Beautiful farm and home. Was great to get out of the city and understand more about traditional Croatian living.
Easy and straightforward menu. Only challenge was that one in the party didn’t eat beef. We confirmed that. We made veal (aka young beef), so one was didn’t get enjoy main course.
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Thank you so much for your lovely words about our farm and traditional Croatian home!
We are truly sorry for the misunderstanding regarding the main course. In Croatia, we make a very strict culinary distinction between beef (meat from adult cattle) and veal (meat from young calves), treating them as two completely different ingredients.
When you noted "no beef," we automatically prepared veal, thinking it was a perfect and safe alternative. We now realize that from your perspective, it still falls under the same category, and we feel terrible that one guest couldn't enjoy the meal due to this cultural and linguistic mix-up.
This was a great lesson for us to be more specific with international guests in the future. We would love to host you again and make it up to you with a dinner everyone can enjoy!

This was a great cooking class! They pick you up close to your accommodation and bring you back to their beautiful home. Nike and Katarina were the most kind, friendly and fun hosts! We learned how to make bread, then got a great tour of their property and gardens and then went back to the kitchen to prepare vegetables, meat and dessert. We enjoyed interacting with the other participants and the hosts…so fun! The meal was delicious and we also enjoyed their wine from their vineyard. I would highly recommend this class. It was one of the highlights of our trip! Thank you Katarina and Nike!
