We took an approximately 6-hour tour in Chongqing. Overall, the experience was smooth and enjoyable. The driver was professional, and the vehicle was comfortable. My husband and mother-in-law also appreciated the itinerary and the meal arrangement.
That said, there are a few areas that could be improved. The English-speaking guide was fairly quiet throughout the tour and didn’t share much history or cultural context unless we asked. My mother-in-law was hoping to learn more about Chongqing, and at times she had to initiate questions just to get the conversation going. Since we paid a premium for an English-guided tour, it was disappointing that I ended up translating for my family more than expected.
Lastly, we felt a bit awkward being asked at the end of the trip to take a photo holding the tour agency flag.

We did this private tour with Mr. Young, our guide, and Mr. Wong, our driver, after a 2-day private tour to Wulong with them. Mr. Young and Mr. Wong are very helpful and accommodating. They are also very considerate. We never have to wait long in the sun to be picked up for the next sightseeing point. They even went out of the way at the end of the tour to show us how to walk from our hotel to view Chongqing’s night scenery.

Kelly (our tour guide) and Mr. Ching (our driver) met us promptly at 8:30am to start the tour. Kelly is a native of Chongqing, so she knew the area extremely well. She shared the history of the places we visited, and even set up an amazing feast at a local restaurant that was included. It featured 7 dishes of their local cuisine, some spicy, some not, with extremely large portions the 4 of us could not finish, so we packed the rest to take with us. Unlike the eateries we saw at Hongyadong and Ciqikou where people tried to lure tourists in, this restaurant seemed to only have locals eating there, so we knew it was authentic!
After seeing the rest of the set itinerary, we still had extra time, so Kelly and Mr. Ching took us to the square at Kuixing Tower where on one side of the square you are standing at ground level and then at the other side you’re at level 22. After dropping us off at our hotel, Kelly texted us with the best areas to catch a Saturday night drone show and where to see Hongyadong at night. Overall, this was an excellent tour that I would recommend to anyone visiting Chongqing for the first time.

Admittedly we originally came to Chongquing on the TikTok recommendations of the young adults in our family, however, this city is like nothing else we’ve seen before and well worth a visit.
Our guide for this tour was the incredibly capable Kelly and her experienced driver, who not only took us to the TikTok hotspots (including adding Quixinglou which wasn’t on the original itinerary) but also to some beautiful temples and Ciqikou Ancient Town and River Port.
She was also super helpful in reserving the nighttime river cruise for us, something that seems to be impossible if you’re not a Chinese national!
A great tour to get an idea of Chongqing and Kelly who is a native of the city took great care of us - highly recommended.
