Great tour with detailed insights provided by Shelby (hope i got the name right, law graduate). Highly recommended.
Punting ans walk tour were exceptional
Jedh_T, Mar 2026
Great! The punting was great. The walking tour initiallly was confusing but the tour guide was able to pull it off eventually.
No entrance to any colleges or labs!
Carla_T, Mar 2026
Tour description said 10 min entrance to Old Cavendish Lab (10 min stop) free access. We stopped for 2 min and could not go in. We paid extra for Kings but the Tour guide just left us to go into the FREE Evensong. We did not go into any other colleges. Overall a wasted opportunity to see Cambridge. If you are only going once. Do not select Alumni Tours. Also, guide was only audible when facing us, so we missed half of what she said.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Dear Carla,
Thank you for your feedback, and we’re sorry to hear the experience did not meet your expectations.
We would like to clarify that our tour description explicitly states in the exclusions: “Guaranteed access inside university colleges or buildings beyond publicly open courtyards.” At no point do we advertise entry into restricted buildings. If this was unclear, we would always encourage checking with us before booking.
We do take your comments regarding timing and audibility seriously and will review these internally.
As the concerns raised relate to points clearly outlined in our description, we kindly ask that you reconsider or remove your review, as it does not accurately reflect the tour as advertised.
Kind regards
Great informative tour about Cambridge!
Jason_S, Feb 2026
Our tour guide's name was Niamh, current graduate student at Cambridge gave a great tour - would recommend her!! She did a good job of sharing some of the history of Cambridge along with how current day Cambridge is like as a student without going into too much detail (perfect amount of information). She was very knowledgable and gave great instructions as we went along. She did a great job of answering our questions and accomodating the hard of hearing people (myself and one other lady in our group). We were very happy to have done the tour - learned a lot!!

We had an incredible experience on our walking tour. The guide was friendly, funny, and had tons of information and fun facts to share. The time went by very quickly! I wish I could remember his name to mention it in the review, all I know is that he used to go to Oxford and now attends Cambridge! Anyway if you can request a guide who used to attend Oxford, do so!

STEVEN_N, Oct 2025
The punting is very nice, great views and fun on boat, good tour guides. The walk is just ok, can only see exteriors and they look better on punt.

Niamh was great! Good overview of the history of Cambridge University and at a good pace. Fun to see Trinity College where Newton studied, the Cavendish Lab building (home of more than 30 Nobel laureates), and the fen that changed the course of Darwin’s life. Of course all that other royal history is pretty cool, too!
Great overview of Cambridge
Kirk_G, Sep 2025
They were actually students not alumni but this was a very informative walk full of information you would not likely find on your own. The punt trip was a must too.

Cindy_C, Aug 2025
It was raining when we got there. Still a lot of people. Took us a while to find the guide. You need clearer signs. No loan umbrella or even a cheap rain poncho provided. We were rain jackets, but it was no use. We’re drenched wet halfway of the tour. Later, we found out from another tour guide that we miss one of the scene that we want to see in Kings College, but it was too late. We cannot re-enter. It was a very unpleasant tour.
Response from Host, Aug 2025
We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your tour. Unfortunately, the weather is outside of our control, and while we do our best to make tours enjoyable in all conditions, it is the responsibility of guests to check the forecast and dress accordingly.
Our team is always available to help, and we do provide clear joining instructions to assist guests, but nowhere do we state that we provide umbrellas or waterproof equipment.
With regard to King’s College, access is managed by the College itself, and once visitors leave the grounds, re-entry is not permitted. Our guides always aim to include the key highlights, and we are sorry if you felt something was missed on this occasion.
We feel this review does not fairly reflect the efforts of our team, and we kindly ask that you consider removing it.

Walking tour disappointing but Punt on the river fantastic
Rita_M, Jul 2025
Peter, our guide for the walking tour was very poor. I know he had only been doing these walking tours for 2 months but he was not competent to take a group of 24 people and needed more training. He was not engaging and very limited on his general knowledge on the colleges and areas. It was very busy and he struggled to keep the group together and informed. We found it o disjointed, difficult to hear him and found him somewhat vague.
In contrast the young guy who took us punting on the river was excellent and we learnt so much more from him as we traversed up and back on the river. Would recommend Scudamore for the punting trips as that was very good value for money
Response from Host, Aug 2025

Elliot & Harry were exceptional tour guides, they were very knowledgeable & personable. Both very happy to answer questions & they made the day very enjoyable. Would thoroughly recommend this tour.
Perfect pacing
Janet_B, Jun 2025
What a great tour! Jordy was our guide and did a fantastic job pointing out the sites and giving us tidbits of information. We happened to be in Cambridge during graduation time and he shared some of the peculiar traditions practiced. His pacing was spot on. Thoroughly enjoyed our time.
Annie is amazing and so is Cambridge
Natalie_W, Jun 2025
It was well worth the cost, which was very reasonable. We saw a great deal of the campus, and learned much more than we would have just by walking around ourselves. Annie was our tour guide, and she explained things very thoroughly - it was as if she knew everything about the university. Rave, rave!
