Itinerary
Select a departure time on booking, and meet your private guide in central Cambridge. Then, set out into the graceful streets while learning about Cambridge’s rich history and prestigious university, the fourth-oldest of its kind in the world. Spread along the River Cam, the city is famed for its exquisite architecture, medieval colleges, and beautiful riverside collegiate gardens.
Inform your guide if there’s something you want to concentrate on during your explorations. Your tour is private, so your itinerary, from start to finish, can be personalized to reflect your preferences or themes of particular interest.
You may, for example, want to visit some specific university colleges. If so, your guide — many are involved with the university and can provide great insight into its workings and history — will discuss the options, and do everything possible to arrange it. All entrance fees to colleges and other landmarks are at your own expense.
Perhaps choose to visit some of Cambridge’s top draws, such as Trinity College with its grand Tudor gateway, 15th-century Queens’ College, or the 19th-century Bridge of Sighs, a covered stone bridge named after Venice’s similar landmark.
Alternatively, you may want to see inside magnificent King’s College Chapel and stroll through The Backs, the postcard-perfect college gardens along the River Cam, where punters drift along the placid waters.
Or, ask your guide to lead you through the elegant streets and passageways, passing the city's many honey-stoned colleges on route, and admiring sights like the Fitzwilliam Museum, the 17th-century watercourse of Hobson’s Conduit, and impressive Senate House, the setting for the university’s degree ceremonies.
After about two hours of exploring, your guide will bid you goodbye in the city center, leaving you free to continue your sightseeing.

We had a wonderful private walking tour of Cambridge with Sibylle. As an alumni of the college, she shared the school's history along with interesting and fun anecdotes of her time there. She was very knowledgable, and also warm and charming. We highly recommend this tour!

My guide Mark, a serious and highly qualified historian, was simply outstanding. Completely and deeply knowledgeable re all aspects of Cambridge’s history, he combined all this with a great sense of humour and a commitment to attentively answering my every question. One of the best and most informative guided tours I have ever done, this guide can be highly recommended.

Our guide was hands down amazing— we learned so much. It could have easily been miserable in cold and rain, but she was so engaging, knowledgeable and able to give us an insider’s perspective on the university. Far more nuanced than a typical vague/general tour, she gave us insight into the inner workings of living within the community, dynamics within colleges, and housing (alongside the expected history.) When asked specific, loosely related questions regarding ancient history, she not only answered within context of the period, but provided specific resources to further research.
I’d recommend to anyone with even a passing interest. You will be spellbound.

This was a memorable tour, made even better by Annabel, my guide. She is a highly qualified alumnus of Cambridge with an intricate knowledge of history of all that’s around. The tour is highly recommended for tourists and prospective students alike. Nice and easy pace, take photos and make great memories.

Sophy was most admirable as our guide, loads of facts, both fun, interesting and important, absolutely on her fingertips. She was extremely gentle, genial and personable to spend time with, and a brilliant manner to allow us to ask any type of question, and many times on subjects which were a bit controversial too. We spoke with the utmost respect and left with a lot more than just a tour. An afternoon very very pleasantly spent and with an amazing person. Left us wanting more...

This tour is perfect for a day trip to Cambridge. It takes you past all the most important sites and through the different colleges, and helps you understand the history behind everything you'd otherwise just be snapping pictures of. Our tour guide, James, was friendly and knowledgable, and we thoroughly enjoyed walking through Cambridge with him. We had great conversation, both about the tour and otherwise, and he happily took our questions throughout the tour. I would definitely recommend doing this tour if you have limited time in Cambridge.
