Definitely bring some money to tip your tour guide and the great family providing the dinner. Danny was great and very informative. The swimming holes are absolutely stunning and refreshing.

This was a beautiful experience for me and my husband. We loved the untouched beauty of the area. Definitely plan to jump in and take a swim. You won’t regret it! Danny makes it all wonderful!

Danny was an amazing guide! We were fortunate enough to have him all to ourselves. The hike itself is beautiful with just enough challenge for us. The sorbet stop was a nice touch along with the authentic meal after. Highly recommend this adventure.

It was a beautiful 2 mile hike. Trail is rocky much of the way so feels longer. Our guide Danny was delightful. Loved the meal at the end of the hike.

This experience involves lots of laughing and walking punctuated by some steep climbs and delicious ice cream. It was truly a unique experience that turned out to be even more beautiful that I had hoped. It is a 10/10 adventure and I would tell anyone coming to this area to go with Danny and Jordan on this adventure!

We had an amazing experience exploring the nature of Mexico with Danny. The night hike was the best part: hearing the sounds and seeing the bright stars was absolutely magical. Danny was very knowledgeable and kind. We enjoyed meeting his friends at the end of the trip and eating a traditional meal at their rancho. This is a must trip if you want to learn about Mexico outside of its resorts. Thank you, Danny!

Hard to describe how much I enjoyed this experience. Danny was helpful before the tour in answering a couple questions. Pick up was right at my hotel which was very convenient. We drove the hour or so towards the canyon and made a quick stop at Yaka Charly for sorbet. Unbelievably delicious. (Bring pesos!)
From there we continued into the preserve. The hike itself was easy and was a beautiful glimpse/taste of the terrain. I am an experienced hiker/mover but this would be totally approachable even for those who are not. Danny was a wealth of information on so much of what I was seeing. He highlighted a lot of the vegetation, and gave insight throughout the entire trip on the region, the people, and the challenges they face.
There is a small pool to jump into at the top end of the hike. This is an out and back trail. The bulk of the way back was in the dark with headlamps that Danny provided. Seeing the stars, some night creatures 🦂, and hearing a coyote or two made it even more delightful.
From there we headed to the home of YoYo, local ranchero, and enjoyed a traditional dinner with fresh made tortillas and cinnamon tea.
If you are looking for something quieter, to escape the lights and noise of Cabo? And get a taste of nature. This is it. Danny was experienced, friendly and knows his stuff. He speaks fluent English for those of us lacking in our Spanish. It is clear that he has created tours with the locals in mind. The whole experience left me feeling content and grateful. And like I was part of the culture here for at least a small moment.
Honestly? I didn't want the evening to end. But when it did, I was dropped right back at the hotel doorstep.
If you prefer less commerical and "touristy" experiences with an eye on nature, and helping the locals in a more sustainable way? Book it. Now.

We were very lucky to have a private tour with Danny. He was a great guide and told us about the flora and fauna of the arean, as well as the geology and history. We arrived in the valley when the sun was setting, so it was not too hot. The trail took us through the dry riverbed across sand benches and rock formations smoothed by rhe water. The vaiety of trees and cactus was amazing. Before heading back, we went for a refresing swim in a natural pool. After sunset we were hiking down the valley in the light of a full moon (and with the provided head lights) and we heard the howls of coyotes in the distance. If you take this hike you should be fit and wear good shoes, since it involves boldering over rock formations and balancing across gravel beds (50% at night). We ended the evening at a Rancher‘s house eating a traditional meal. Kudos to Danny for being a great guide and putting an unforgettable tour together for us.

Where do I start? Do you want an authentic Cabo experience? This is it! Our tour guide, Danny P was fantastic and full of great facts and history during the whole day. We were picked up at our resort at 2pm in a very comfortable and clean air conditioned van for our ride to the Sierra de la Laguna national park. This takes you into the beautiful country outside Cabo. We stopped at a local farm where they had homemade sorbet (Damian’s) in flavors you have likely never experienced, it was terrific. Then we continued down the road to our destination the Ranchero where we checked, put some waters in our backpack and got ready to head out. Danny taught us about native plants throughout the hike and history about the rancheros in the area and the Cabo region. We took an occasional dip in the natural springs which was quite refreshing. Where hiking shoes with tread or chacos, tennis shoes must have good tread. You will be in sand and climbing on rocks and trails. Our return hike back we had headlamps on, the pictures we took were amazing. Bring something dry to change into before your traditional ranchero lunch. It’s a light dinner but just right. We returned back to our property around 830 or 9pm. A full day but by far the best experience I have ever had in Mexico, let alone Cabo.

Great experience. We had a really small group and had nearly the entire canyon to ourselves. We learned a lot about the local history and the plants and wildlife. Hiking in the afternoon and evening was great. Lots of wildlife and quiet moments. Dinner was fantastic. When traveling as a vegetarian we usually don’t expect much, but the family prepared a vegetarian alternative to the usual meal that was beyond expectations. Would recommend for anyone who enjoys nature and is looking for something a little more adventurous outside of the cabo bubble.

Danny was amazing. Super friendly, knowledgeable, and fun. The hike and local dinner were outstanding. This was my favorite excursion in Cabo.

Small groups are the best! Danny and his partner arrived to pick me up in a really nice new van. We took the drive to the hike site stopping first at a road side mom/pop ice cream stand. On the hike Danny took the time to explain different Flora, and Fana, as well as different rock formations after a brief swim, we headed back to the van. In a short drive, we ended up at a private home and had homemade tacos. Some of the best I’ve had. If you’re looking for an off the beaten path adventure, this is the one you should pick.
Back in one piece with all my parts 😃

This adventure away from the tourist center was most definitely the highlight of our trip to Los Cabos. My husband and I were thrilled to experience the natural beauty of Sierra de La Laguna. Danny was the perfect guide, taking us off the beaten path. We barely saw another soul on the hike, even at the pristine swimming hole he took us to. The river water was cool and comfortable for a leisurely swim. My husband braved the fun jump from the rocks above. Danny is warm and personable and knows the area very well, explaining the history, terrain and plant life along the way.
The delicious meal at a rancho gave us a much appreciated glimpse into local life. We had the best homemade mango sorbet at a small family shop on the way back.
We will definitely sign up for another hike with Danny if we return to Los Cabos!

Our experience at Sierra de la Laguna was exceptional. Danny was a wonderful guide, very knowledgeable about history, culture, flora, and fauna of the region. He was a passionate mountain climber and helped us a lot in our hiking adventure.
We highly recommend this fun-filled tour.

Highly recommend- a great way to see another side of Cabo away from the beaches. Amazing scenery, with waterfalls and hot springs to swim in. Our guide, Danny, with his team (Jordan & Pepe) made this a truly unforgettable experience. A fantastic adventure we will not forget.

This is a must-do if you want to know Cabo beyond the built-up tourism environment. The beauty of the stark desert mountain landscape is staggering. The hike along the bottom of the rocky canyon is just enough of a challenge to keep your muscles engaged but not leave you totally exhausted.
The thing that made the hike so exceptional, however, was how fantastic the guide was. Danny's love for the area and knowledge of the natural and cultural history of the area was impressive. He could answer any random question we threw at him. He was kind and engaging, and made a point to help those in our group who weren't big hikers feel comfortable with the activity, taking the time to show them where to place their feet and hold their hand if they needed help with balance. Not to mention, he knew where all the good photo-op places were, and did a great job taking group pictures of us in front of gorgeous vistas and videos of us jumping off rocks info the water.
The trip included so much more than hiking. On the drive there we stopped at a roadside ice cream shack to get some sorbet made out of the fruit of a local cactus, and also at a lookout over an oasis to learn more about the geology and history of the place (and take a photo of the incredible view). The hike ended with a delicious dinner at the park rancho, and on the ride back we stopped at the demarcation line for the Tropic of Cancer for a stargazing lesson.
Can't say enough of what an amazing experience this was. We were left with so many great memories and a deeper understanding and appreciation of the people and place of Los Cabos.

Beautiful, native hike with knowledgeable guides. Two older folks in our group needed extra help, and these guides went above and beyond to get them there and back safely and a great take-away experience. The authentic meal and cultural exposure was fabulous! Thank you!

I am going to leave a really detailed review because the guides Danny and Nacho (nickname) really deserve it!
I went with a private group of 4 and we all would 100% recommend it. This is definitely the highlight of our time in Cabo San Lucas. A gorgeous nature reserve with so many spots to swim - even under a small waterfall!
Our guides were very knowledgeable, kind, and helpful on our hike. Danny has been leading these tours for 10+ years so you will be in good hands. On our way we stopped at a picturesque oasis and a local ice cream stand.
They led us on a hike starting at 4PM as they recommended. We were a bit hesitant that it would be too late but honestly so glad we went at this time. Our hike was bright and it was not beaming hot at this time like it usually is (but the pictures are still bright - just without the sun directly above us since the mountains covered it). We felt safe overall. Seeing the starry night sky after dinner was lovely.
It was about an hour and a half drive from our resort (Riu Palace Baja California) so three hours is transportation time total. The actual hike is about three hours and then another hour for dinner. We were back at 11pm.
We had horchata (a sweet rice drink) and fish tacos - dinner was fantastic. Really flavourful and homemade tasting cooked by locals on the reserve.
This was a very memorable hike - I loved swimming in the fresh water pools and seeing the landscape which looks super ancient and cool (the area is untouched and is 40 million years old!). The palm trees looked ancient and the granite rocks were surprisingly colourful. In terms of wildlife, we saw lizards, wild cows, birds and fish. We learned that this is home to the smallest hummingbird in the world (we didn’t see it, but you might!).
If you are not convinced to go by now I don’t know what to tell you. BEST HIKE EVER!!!!! Thank you so much Danny and Nacho!

Enjoyed our experience. Nice getaway from tourist areas.
Danny was great. Be warned that it is a pretty uneven terrain with some rock scrabbling. Danny helped us through some of more difficult spots. We are moderately fit 50+ and found it just challenging enough to feel accomplished when done but not overly exerted.
A couple of beautiful swimming holes. Also had a nice home style meal at the local ranch.
Would recommend for anyone wanting to get away from beach, tourist, and see/experience nature.
John_G, May 2022
It is a very beautiful, magical and unique place with a fascinating ecology. Our guide, Danny, was enthusiastic, thoughtful and knowledgeable about the plant species, history of the area and the Pericu people.

Such a beautiful place, not to be missed! The hike was a nice pace with a touch of adventure and lots of nature.

A perfect day-hike on the pristine Boca de la Sierra out-back trail! Delicious wood-fired home-cooked breakfast and visit with a nearby ranchero family. Swim and marvel in the San Bernardo stream and water holes. And share the joy, eco-knowledge, and safety-first leadership that Danny Perez (our certified tour-guide) brings to this remarkable Cabo-best experience.
