What an amazing experience!! We’ve never surfed before and Terry is great, he was very patient and he got me and my boyfriend up on our boards quickly and we had a fantastic day!! Definitely recommend the private lesson if it’s your first time!

Wouldn’t use again or recommend. Very unprofessional, no question of whether you can even swim or have any health issues. The main guy is really creepy we didn’t like him at all. Luckily we were with Quinn who was really nice and made us feel safe but felt bad for the people who were with the owner. All the surfboards are broken and taped back together and the wetsuits are covered in rips. Don’t go

Surfing with the crew in Byron Bay was epic—super chill vibes, but totally pro. The guys were fun, friendly, and knew their stuff. Great time all around!

The tour advertised that pickup was included, but that wasn’t the case. I was informed that the surfing session was at 12 pm, not 10 am, despite booking for 10 am. I only found out when I called in the morning, which was less than ideal.
The whole experience seemed poorly organized, with everything feeling out of place. Terry, the instructor, was good, but he was more focused on other instructors making mistakes than on guiding us.
Overall, the surfing experience could have been much better.

Rajeev - it's written in blazen letters when you book on Tripadvisor to call 24 hours before the lesson to confirm the time DUE TO OCEAN AND WIND CHANGES. If you didn't see that, I'm sorry for that but had you looked more closely at the booking requirements you would have known that it was a 12 o'clock trip. WE HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE OCEAN CONDITIONS. Next time when you book a tour read the booking instructions carefully. Regards Terry.

Great teachers, and we had a lot of fun. Knowledgeable, friendly and service-minded! Family of four all managed to stand up and surf basic surfing after only a few test-runs.

Very little teaching took place, boards weren't in the best Conditioning. Left late and finished early.

I'm sorry you feel that way. Some boards are not new but they are all functional and safe. A private lesson is only 3 hours usually but from pickup to drop off yours was nearly 4. $60 each will not even get you a group lesson with any other school and you could be with up to 20 other people. I know communication is not always perfect but I can only assume the coach considered you were doing well enough not to interfere with your technique too much. Some people get annoyed with information overload while they are practicing. All the best. Terry.

Did a private lesson as someone with light surfing experience and had a great time catching waves with my instructor. He was very friendly and helpful. They drove us to a spot ~30 mins from Byron and it was less crowded and had nice waves. I’m glad I did the private lesson because it allowed me to catch way more waves.

Great experience for kids 16 and 12 year old. Managed to stay on board in 45 minutes. The swell wasn't the best but amazing great efford to make it happen. THANKS

We had a very nice time surfing with Terry! Our lesson was a bit shorter than half a day, but we still had a lot of fun. Terry was very patient with us beginners, he gave good instructions and gave all his energy to give us a good surfing experience.

Myself and my boyfriend went surfing with Kool Katz, both beginner surfers. Terry was an amazing coach. We both stood up many times due to Terry’s expertise. He’d taken us to the perfect spot for beginner waves and was extremely patient. Had a great day, Terry at Kool Katz was kind, funny and an amazing surf coach! Would recommend to anyone
