Great learning experience! Good sized group so we all got a chance to contribute to the cooking. We made traditional dishes and learnt about the history of the dishes as well. The hosts were very polite and great at teaching - they even gave us local recommendations as well. 10/10 would recommend!

Taking a cooking class at Pachamama Argentine Cooking Experience was one of the highlights of my time in Buenos Aires. The class was incredibly well organized, fun, and very hands-on from start to finish. We started with a welcome snack while learning about the history of Argentine cuisine, which set the tone for the experience. Then we rolled up our sleeves and cooked several traditional dishes together, including chipá, regional empanadas, humita, and a delicious dulce de leche dessert. Everything was explained clearly, and the instructors made it easy and enjoyable even if you’re not an experienced cook. What I loved most was the atmosphere. The group was small and interactive, so it felt more like cooking with friends than taking a class. The instructors were knowledgeable, funny, and shared lots of tips about Argentine food and culture along the way. At the end we all sat down together to enjoy the meal we prepared, paired with wine, which made it feel like a true Argentine dining experience. It was a great way to meet other travelers while enjoying fantastic food. If you’re visiting Buenos Aires and want something memorable to do, I highly recommend this class. It’s a fun way to learn about the country’s cuisine and leave with recipes you can actually recreate at home.

Once Was Not Enough....

When we found out we would visit Buenos Aires again after 7 years, we immediately sought out Pachamama for a repeat indoctrination to Argentinean cooking. It was that fun, instructive, and delicious. From hosting this cooking experience in his apartment in 2019 to the new dedicated storefront location in the quiet Las Canitas neighborhood of BA's Palermo district, it was quite a transformation. However, the expertise, flow, and efficiency of the class remained remarkable. Now with two assistants, Franco entertained us for three hours through a full four-course meal which we actually prepared for ourselves. Everyone participated in a meaningful way. Even with seemingly complicated dishes, one had the feeling that there was hope you could re-create each item in your own home. You will come away with pictures, recipes, and good friends from around the world. And you will not need to eat dinner....

It's a lot of fun and actual hands-on cooking. A little rushed, perhaps, but we covered a lot. The empanada-making is particularly fun.

Henry_J, Oct 2025
Today we enjoyed a magnificent event at the Pacha Mama cooking class. Professional courteous and knowledgeable people introduced us to the tastes of Argentinian foods . We were expertly guided in preparing our 5 course lunch which was superb. Not only were the food and the experience great but they also accommodated my vegetarian wife in every way! Having experienced cooking classes all over the world- this one by far was the best and most memorable. If you are traveling to Buenos Airs please don’t miss this cooking adventure.- by far the best in the word!!!

Recipes lack flavor, wouldn't recommend

Tahleah_C, Oct 2025
The positive - clean kitchen, you get the recipes if you want them, getting to meet other travelers. The squash "stew" was good, still needed more salt though. The less positive - You don't actually get to make everything, they break up all the steps to different people. Everyone is involved, but the amount of "cooking" is limited, that was disappointing. Also disappointed in the empanada filling, it was 75% onions, not enough meat, salt or spices (the dough was good). You could also tell they were paying more attention to ending the experience on time rather than the experience itself. I wouldn't recommend this class.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Hi Tahleah! Thank you very much for joining our cooking experience =). We were pleased to have you participating. All reviews are welcomed for us to improve and perform better experiences in the future for new travelers. We break the recipes so everyone can participate as it is a hands-on experience. It is not possible for everyone to make 4 recipes from beggining to end, that would last very long an we prioritize everyone participates and at the same time you get to eat a complete menu representing the different regions from Argentina. Still, we make sure everyone has at least two tasks. Besides also everyone rolls their own empanada dough, everyone fills their own empanadas and everyone learns how to make the folding. At the same time everyone gets to flip their own pancake and everyone is invited to plate the stew and the dessert. So there are plenty of opportunities to cook and participate during the class. As regards the stew we are surprised as everyone every time tells us how amazed they are by trying our humita recipe. Maybe could have had more salt that day but we prefer if that happens that you can add it yourself rather than having an oversalted stew (we take care of everyone, that´s our priority). The empanada filling is Mendoza´s traditional recipe, my grandmother´s one. This includes ground beef grounded by ourselves (which is the flank steak with a 20% fat, one of the most flavourfull parts of the cow), double the onions which are caramelized and deglased with homemade vegetable stock, red wine, sweet paprika, cumin powder, chili powder, green onions and hard boiled egg. In fact we add more spices than a typical argentine would add as we are fan of spices and want the empanada to be really tasty. If that was not enough we add extra beef tallow to add an extra layer of flavour to the filling. We are sorry you did not enjoy it =(. Finally, every experience and traveler that joins our cooking place is very important for us. We make sure everyone participates, everyone gets at least two nice pictures as a nice souvenir and everyone is taken care of. Thanks again for the review and visiting our cooking experience!!! Warm regards, Fran

My wife and I had a great time learning about Argentina and the food here. The experience was very interesting and the food was awesome. A very enjoyable and delicious time. The class started with a tasting of a sample of appetizers and a brief lecture about Argentinian food culture and later while tasting an array of foods prepared a list of great places to experience in the city was discussed. The students actually were able to participate in the preparation of a number of dishes and all the recipes were provided via the Pachamama web site. A delicious and fun experience either solo, family or with your partner.
