Franca Lara was an outstanding guide. We booked a last-minute walking tour of Bern and, although the city is small, the two hours flew by—we easily could have stayed with her for three. She was knowledgeable, fun, and great at keeping our entire family engaged the whole time. Five stars for Franca.
A quick note on Viator: after we booked and paid, we were contacted and asked if we could change our reserved time/date. When you choose a specific slot, it’s usually because your schedule is tight, so that was frustrating. Thankfully, the tour itself was fantastic. Viator could improve the booking follow-up, but Franca’s guiding was truly excellent.

Nur met us in our hotel and immediately began showing us Bern. It was the National “Unification” Holiday and the Bundesplatz was jammed with revelers but she still navigated us through the crowd to see wonders of Bern that we did not know existed! We saw the Zytglogge strike 11, saw Einstein’s apartment, and the Bern Münster in time to hear the bells and hear a concert inside , saw surfers on the Rhine River … and Brown bears at the Bear pits!!

This was one of the best tours I have taken in all my travels. Our guide, Elmo, began by inquiring days before the tour what were our points of interest. Once the tour began, he outlined how the tour would trace the stages of Bern’s development. This enabled us to better understand what we were looking at throughout the tour. As a bonus, Elmo is an excellent photographer and patiently took many great shots of us - better than we could do ourselves.

If I could give this review a zero star, I would. We got burned in Bern! Made our reservation in July for a walking tour of Bern. When booking with Viator the information included hotel pickup. However, the plans changed just before we arrived in Bern via train. Viator, at the last minute disregarded our hotel pick up and said we needed to return to the train station for the walking tour, spending an additional $30 on a taxi to the train station to meet our guide. We did not feel this was fair and told Viator we would like a refund because we were promised hotel pickup and we didn't get it. They charged us for a tour we did not receive! No refunds.... Obviously, customer service IS NOT their priority! Viator should have made other arrangements with us, to accommodate us and not the tour guide. BE AWARE, THEY DON'T CARE! WE SPENT $119 and received nothing but a headache!

Our guide ( Ana) was 15 min late, did not speak much English or German. She provided almost no information about the city or the sights, did not know basic facts, history or any local legends or stories. It was a waste of 2 hours just aimlessly walking around

Our guide, Martin, was extraordinary. We were interested in the history and culture of Bern and Switzerland and Martin brought it all to life for us.
