In this two hour walking tour, we were able to see the major attractions of Bern and learn important background information about the city. We covered a lot more ground than researching and doing it on our own. Lucas also gave us information on other attractions we could pursue after our tour. Would have been nice if he had a book of information or photos to share with us to highlight or reinforce some of the information he provided.

10:00 Tour was cancelled by the provider. Credit card charge was not refunded. I searched for an alternative. There was another time slot available, at 13:00. I book it. Credit card was charged again. Shortly after that I got a message that 13:00 tour was canceled as well due to not meeting minimum number of attendees, which was 2 people. I was offered to pay for two people and have it as a private tour. I didn’t accept the offer. The first credit card charge moved from pending to posted today, one day after the tour date. The second charge is still pending. There are no pending credits from Viator.

Thank you for your feedback, and we are very sorry for the inconvenience this situation caused.
Both the 10:00 and 13:00 tours had to be cancelled due to not reaching the minimum number of participants. We understand how frustrating this must have been, especially after rebooking the second time slot.
Regarding the charges, refunds are processed directly by Viator when a tour is cancelled. Sometimes a charge may move from “pending” to “posted” before the refund is issued, depending on the bank’s processing times. The second pending charge should disappear automatically, and the confirmed charge should be refunded by Viator shortly.
We sincerely apologize for the disruption to your plans and appreciate your patience while the refund is processed.

They changed the meet up point to something across town. When we communicated that we were walking to the new point, they said that they would wait for us because we were the only one on the tour. But when we got there, we waited for 30 minutes and no one showed up or communicated to us. We asked a refund and never heard a word. Terrible experience! Don’t book with them.

The meeting point for this tour was updated in February, and notifications were sent in advance to all booked participants. We understand that you realized the change only after arriving at the previous location, and we are truly sorry for the inconvenience this caused.
Regarding your arrival at the new meeting point, we are very concerned to read that you waited without the guide present or receiving further communication. This is not the level of coordination we aim to provide, especially when you were the only participants expected that day. We will review this situation internally to understand what happened and ensure it does not occur again.
We would also like to confirm that your refund has already been processed. We apologize if there was any delay in communication regarding this, and we regret the inconvenience and disappointment this situation caused.

Our guide was very friendly but he seemed to have no knowledge of Bern and its history. We had walked the city the night prior on our own and we just pretty much ended up redoing the same walk and did not learn anything new about the city.He had sheets with facts on it but he did not use them much. He would simply stop in front of certain buildings, tell us it was a building rich in history, and tell us to read the information when there was some on the walls. We booked an English tour but our guide had a hard time understanding our questions and most of the time would only answer: “I’ll check” but not actually check or follow up.
We spent 30 min at the bear park on a 2hr tour of one of the most historical city in Switzerland looking for hidden bears.
At the end of the tour, he took photos of our group but they were awful. He ended the tour by offering to send us more information on the city but we wanted that info during the tour not after. I’ve never experienced this before booking a guide in any city before. It almost felt like a joke.

Our guide was wonderful! She went into a lot of detail. We had 12 people in the group and she managed to keep track of all. She’s from Mexico and has only lived here 4 years so it was amazing what details she provided. Unfortunately my husband and I can’t remember her name.

I arrived in Bern on Easter Monday & everything seemed dead with stores closed & hardly any people. I took the tour the next day & our guide, Karina, changed my outlook on Bern as we went along with the tour. I learned a lot about Bern (from Bear), the origin of Lindt & Toblerone. She pointed out details about Einstein, the churches, etc. I especially enjoyed the clock tower & learned that Bern was only the political capital of Switzerland. I learned what CHF finally meant. She suggested to visit the Einstein Museum, so I walked to the museum and later back to Old Town. After joining the tour, Bern is a very interesting city after all. Thanks Karina, for changing my outlook on Bern, the city of Bears & everything Einstein! Awesome job, Karina.. who showed enthusiasm & joy in showing her guests around Bern.
