This was a great tour. Chapo was our guide, and because it was small, we saw a historic pottery-offering site we would have missed with a larger group. He kept us away from the crowds, the caves were amazing, and I loved seeing the nature and wildlife. it was relaxing, adventurous and educational. I would recommend this 100%
Highly recommend this tour. Was easy and smooth. The guide Abner was awesome and informative. Had a 56 year old and an 11 year old, and everyone was safe and enjoyed themselves!! Be prepared for rain.
This tour was a pleasant surprise! Our guide, Abner, was knowledgeable about the island and made sure we enjoyed our time. We appreciated our small group (just our family of 4 and another family of 3). We saw others carrying their own tube hiking towards the cave, while this tour already had the tubes waiting at the cave (choose this tour just for that alone!). The cave tubing was a lot of fun but the river tubing (after we got out of the cave)- think: lazy river, but with spectacular views of the rainforest!!! We loved this part even more! Highly recommend!
This was fantastic and fun
Tour guide, Canton, was great.
The jungle trek was a little difficult because we had to carry our tube for about a mile, but we managed.
We chose this excursion because it worked with our cruise schedule. We were hoping for a smaller group than the typical cruise excursion, and got our wish as we were the only two people on the tour. It was about a 45 minutes drive to the caves, our guide Chap was very informative the entire trip. On the walk to the caves he pointed out several animals and plants and continued teaching us about them. We had to cross a couple streams, each person carrying their tube. It took about 15 minutes. Once inside the caves he pointed out several rock formations and animals, and shared some Mayan history about the caves. After the tour we stopped at a local restaurant for lunch. It was a good typical local meal: bone in chicken pieces, rice with beans mixed in, salad. Highly recommend this tour!
Our guide was super and the tube experience was out of this world but ………..
There was a lot of waiting at the port for other guests at the port due to it being a tender operation. You do need to queue early to get of your ship. We booked tube plus lunch but the guide kept mentioning a zip line. As we had not booked zip line we were taken to this activity and had to wait around for over an hour whilst other guests completed this activity. I booked a 4 hour 30 min activity that ended up being 6 hours 30 min which was unacceptable.
The lunch was lovely.
There was a long walk to start the tubing so be prepared. You have to carry your own tube this distance or get provider to carry tube for $5. Water shoes can be hired for $3.
Bring a towel and change of clothes. There is a changing area. Also closed sandals are good not flip flops. There is about a one mile walk to where you get into the tubes. You do get wet. Great experience and beautiful scenery.
tubing through the caves was great - better way to see than kayaking. Be prepared to forge rivers and hike for .8 mile - but worth it.
Beautiful walk through a part of the rain forest with no need to carry the tube and the tubing experience itself was amazing!
A wonderful day! Our guide Nelson was amazing and we enjoyed the whole experience! Would do it again!
The excursion itself was so much fun. Nelson was an excellent guide and made the entire day very interesting and enjoyable. The caves were beautiful and the lunch was delectable. Only complaint is that the communication prior to going on the excursion was very poor. We tried to reach out to Charlie regarding when we needed to meet with them with no replies at all through Viator and the email found on their website. For cruisers, since this is a tender port i would recommend getting on the first boat possible, as it seems that the guides for this excursion typically only wait until the first boat or two arrives at the port. All in all, a fantastic experience that I would recommend to anyone!
Zero communication from the organizers that this was canceled due to the caves flooding from heavy rainfall. The only reason we found out was when someone else that booked this contacted the organizer to confirm arrival time a few hours prior.
We heard that they still wanted people to show up so they could sell them on a totally different excursion instead of granting refunds. It’s been days since this was supposed to happen and still no contact or automatic refund. I had to request my own refund which is still in review for approval.
This was cancelled due to high water levels and I am still waiting for a full refund .tried to contact both Viator and Charlie’s cave tubing to no avail
They will cancel on you last minute and Viator will not notify you of it Don’t go. Don’t use Viator.
This was one of my adventure excursion. I enjoyed every minute. The cave views in the cave was amazing. The hike was about 30 minutes. I made it and so can you. Do it!!!
It takes one hour from port to the destination so this tour combines tubing and zipline in one trip/group. You may need to wait up to one hour for the people to finish zipline before going back to the port after you finish your tubing. Other than this, tour guide (Abner) and driver (Chop) were both professional, so we did enjoy the whole tour.
We carried our own tubes. I specifically looked for a group that carrying the tubes was not required. I was wrong!
The walk wasn’t bad, the path is flat, made of stone gravel.
The water was high, nothing the guides could control, but it made the tubing end too quickly. The caves and forest are beautiful.
Our tour consisted of people from 2 cruise ships, the other ship had an earlier all aboard time so the trip was a bit hurried.
Our tour had people who booked just the tubing (me) and people that booked both tubing and zip lining. We had to wait through the zip lining, but it was a decent spot and drinks were available for purchase.
Really fun tour! The weather was not great that day on Belize, but Nelson still managed to make this tour amazing. The caves were nice and floating on a river through these caves was great! We really enjoyed the tour and our time in Belize.
Had a great time, the cave area was more extensive than I thought and was beautiful. Chap (tour guide) was great, informative, and gave option to float independently through the caves.
This was a once in a life time experience made possible by the best tour guide in Belize! We were greeted in Belize by Charlie and team who transported us in an air conditioned van to the caves. They did everything for us! We took a shaded short hike and they had our tubes waiting for us at the water. Once in the water we were pulled the whole time while we comfortably floated in the water. The tubes have a back to them so you are very comfortable. Our group was tied together and once out of the cave we were able to swim for a bit in the beautiful water. Lunch was provided on site and the chicken and rice dish was no joke my fave meal of the whole trip! Thanks for getting us back to the port with plenty of time. We had a blast! This is the only way to do Belize!
This was an amazing experience. Nelson our tour guide was awesome. He told us all about the Belize culture and life style. We had the best time. Tubing through the caves was amazing and the lunch was delicious.
Great tour seeing new things! Did this with my niece and we both really enjoyed the floating and seeing inside the cave
Our tour guide Nelson was very knowledgeable and friendly. I learned a lot about the culture and experienced the amazing views. Great excursion
I was nervous about booking this excursion because of the distance from the port. As it turned out there was nothing for me to worry about. Charlie gave specific directions of where to meet him. We rode in an air conditioned van with passengers from another Carnival ship NELSON was our guide and gave us interesting information along the way. The hike to the cave is reasonable. We DID NOT have to carry our tubes on the hike. Charlie had already taken our tubes to the cave entrance. After the cave tour we had a nice lunch in the shade before returning to port with time to buy a few souvenirs before getting in line for the water shuttle back to the ship. Great job Charlie, Nelson and Walter!
Charlies cave tubing trip to Nohoch Che'en was wonderful. The ride to the site was about an hour, we were outfitted, then walked to the cave opening (wear your water shoes.) Our guide Chop gave us the Mayan history of the caves as we slowly drifted through the cave. It was beautiful, quiet and peaceful.
We booked the Cave Tubing experience with Charlie’s group and had the absolute pleasure of having Jonathan as our guide for the day. He was easy to find in his Superman tee shirt as described and comfortable drove us through Belize City and out to the caves (about an hour drive). He pointed out all the highlights along the way and shared a wealth of information about Belize, its culture, lifestyle and history. He engaged with both parents and kids alike! Upon arrival at the caves, Jonathan placed our order for lunch for after our adventure making sure we had no food allergies or aversions. All expenses are included including lunch and your tubing gear. I highly recommend that you bring crocs or hard sole water shoes. Regular flimsy water shoes are really not sufficient as the rivers are super rocky. We rented crocs there for $3 per pair which was great but we definitely paid the price of a few blisters. Other yours groups had to carry their tubes through the hike to the cave launch. With Jonathan, we did not have to carry anything. We had our life jackets and helmets but picked up our tubes at the cave entrance which was awesome. The hike to the cave was about 15-20 minutes and a nice walk through the greenery. The tubing was excellent! No tight areas or unwanted wildlife spotted! Jonathan expertly guided us through the caves, pointing out the highlights. When we came to the end, we were given the chance to get out of our tubes and swim in the river. After tubing, our lunch was ready - delicious chicken, rice and beans, plantain and soda that both my kids devoured! We headed back to the port with plenty of time before our ship departed. Excellent excursion that was well worth the money. Jonathan was a blast! 100% recommend!!!!
We rushed to get off the ship and sneaked on to the first tender with those that had booked with Carnival but then we had to wait almost an hour for others. As I had seen from other reviews, it is a very long van ride to the tubing activity. About an hour and fifteen minutes.. Then got the gear on and our group of 8 hiked the 35 min or so to the cage entrance. It was very fun and a unique opportunity. On the tubes for probably 50 min.. 10 min or so outside of the caves. Then a local style lunch and a similar long drive back. It is a long outing with the travel. Worth doing but expect a lot of travel time and tough to time everyone getting off the tender boats in Belize.
We had a great time cave tubing with Charlie's Cave Tubing. We had 14 in our group, ages 20 - 80+ years young. Captain Chino made sure we were all together on the long ride over. He was funny and shared lots of history of Belize with us. So many standout moments with this company - contrary to other tour operators, they had young men bring up our tubes for us. Instead of passing on the cost of that to customers, they pay for that to encourage young men to get into tourism. It is a bit of a trek to the mouth of the cave, and we all made it. Even though there are several tour companies at the beginning, we soon separated into our own little groups. Chris was our guide, he was great! He shared interesting information about the caves and their uses throughout history. He spoke about the Belizean tourist industry. He took good care of us. We noticed 2 or 3 times along the way, other groups getting out of the water and carrying their tubes before we had to leave, giving us a great extended tour through the caves and down the river. It ended with a delicious lunch which was included at the restaurant. Beans and rice, marinated chicken, salad, and a Fanta (or water or soda), then the long drive back, with Captain Chino entertaining us with family stories and heartfelt life advice. There was a great local artist there, Ernesto, who did beautiful carvings on slate. Many of us supported him by buying his artwork.
We thoroughly enjoyed our adventure and Abner was an exceptional driver/guide. Would definitely recommend 10/10!
Our tour guide, George of the Jungle, was extremely knowledgeable during the hike identifying numerous trees and plants along the way. Tubing through the caves was an incredible experience for my entire family.
