Great day out

Edward_A, Feb 2026
* Extra $ for option of riverboat ride, and premier seating on train. Tour was good and food was good as well. Guide very knowledgeable.

Great Historical tour

Gleb_B, Dec 2025
Great experience to explore WWII history. Definitely worth the trip. Great way to see and walk in part of history. Definitely worth the extra 300 but to take the speed boat up to the bridge.do the upgrade to the seating carriage as well while on the train ride.

Don’t book! Scammers.

Anna_B, Oct 2025
Expect to pay 500 BHT more per person in cash to the guide Raj and driver Ake for this trip. These two are scammers who will tell you that you need to pay more for upper class seats on the view side of the train. Raj will show you nice upholstered seats when the train cars all come weigh the very basic hard seats. The view is the same from either side. They will change the pick up and call you that they can pick up for a hefty fee at your hotel. The museum is a VERY TIRED museum. The boat ride was also 200 BHT extra person. It was nice to see the bridge, but the tour is a scam. Do not recommend. Look for another tour operator.

Response from Host, Nov 2025

Dear Anna_B, Thank you for sharing your feedback and for joining our Bangkok to River Kwai: A Journey Through History tour. We are truly sorry to hear about your disappointment and would like to clarify a few points. Please note that the THB 500 upgrade fee is not a scam, but an optional VIP seat upgrade on the Death Railway train. These seats are limited and provide more comfortable arrangements and better viewing positions. Guests who prefer standard seating are always welcome to stay with their included ticket — the upgrade is purely a personal choice. Similarly, the boat ride is an optional experience offered to guests who wish to see the River Kwai Bridge from a different perspective. It is not mandatory, and all prices are clearly mentioned by our guide before confirmation. We truly appreciate your feedback and understand that unexpected costs can cause frustration. However, the River Kwai experience remains one of Thailand’s most meaningful historical sites, and we’re glad you enjoyed its beauty despite the inconvenience. We have also shared your comments with our operations team and guides Raj and Ake to ensure that all upgrade options are explained clearly in advance to avoid any misunderstanding in the future. Thank you once again for traveling with us — your feedback helps us improve. Warm regards, amit

Informative trip

Mark_S, Jul 2025
The train ride and seeing the train track was very good. Guide was very informative, scenery is beautiful, JEATH museum was very tired, need exhibitions cases refreshing but, to learn about the history was very informative.

We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the scenic train ride and found the historical insights from our guide to be informative and engaging. An amazing tour and...

LYNDON_G, Apr 2025
An amazing tour and experience, thanks to our guide Rach, was so friendly, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and helpful.

I learned a lot

ThorillBeate_H, Dec 2024
It was interesting to learn more about what happened in this aerea under the second world war. And to see the bridge and the river. The guide had a good clar voice. But it was a little the difficult to hear and understand him in the back of the car.

Great way to understand the River Kwai history

BoonTeck_K, Nov 2024
Overall, it was a great experience. We first visited the cemetery and a simple museum. Then all members of the group opted for the optional boat trip up the river to the train station. I especially enjoyed the train ride and the included buffet lunch. The drive back to Bangkok was extra long because of traffic but our guide (Rach) and driver tried to drop us close to our next destination.

Great experience

Kinga, Nov 2024
We had a great tour with Rach - our guide. He had a very big knowledge about the history and the places we visited. Definitely worth booking.

Long day trip, but worth every second.

john_l, Oct 2024
Nina is a great guide. Very gracious and extremely knowledgeable. Driver was also a pro. Long trip but worth every second.

Love This Tour!

Rebecca_V, Jun 2024
We enjoyed all aspects of this tour. Walking on the bridge while hearing the history from our tour guide, Rach, was fascinating. Traveling on the train was my favorite, the scenery is beautiful. The buffet lunch was good, the view from the restaurant was spectacular! We watched the movie "Bridge on the River Kwai" on the the flight to Bangkok, that really helped us appreciate the history. We highly recommend this tour!

Second trip, still a fitting memorial

mmbutcher, Jun 2024
It’s changed a lot since I was there ten years ago. Much more commercial than it was then . The little museum has been updated and original photos in plastic sleeves are gone, some lost and now rendered as paintings. As much as I enjoyed the new museum, the nostalgia of the old facility was nice. Our guide, Nina, was great.

River Kwai Trip Amazing

Mark_D, Jun 2024
The tour guide was very helpful and friendly with a nice smile. She took us to amazing places and we got lots of excellent photos. At the end of the trip she explained how best to get back to my hotel via the train network.

Best Day Trip for History Lovers

Casey_S, Mar 2024

Great guide and great experience

Ockto_R, Mar 2024
My guide, Mr. Rach, is a very nice person. My trip is great, for a history lover this trip is a must. I got picked up from my hostel and when the tour was finished they brought me back to the hostel again. Don't worry about the meeting point, the guide will message you and ask where you want to get picked up. Thank you again, Mr. Rach.

Fabulous trip with knowledgable guide

Arrianna_S, Mar 2024
Absolutely fantastic trip! Rach was an amazing tour guide - very knowledgeable, explained things in an easy to digest format. My highlights were the long boat, the walk along the bridge and the train ride!

Prefect tour with an awesome tour guide.

Andrea_P, Feb 2024
Our tour guide, Nina, was very informative about all aspects of the tour. She explained the war, the cemetery, the hospital and the train. Also, the lunch buffet was really tasty. 👌 The ride was nice. The time alloted for the tour was prefect.

Death Railway Tour

Peter_G, Dec 2023
Great historical account of the Death Railway with visit to the museum beforehand. Railway journey was very good with great scenery and a good lunch. Guide was very helpful too. Fantastic but moving experience.

Emotional

Clay_R, Dec 2023
Our tour guide left nothing out his passion for such a sensitive piece of history was impeccable, If you have 1 once of patriotism for your people or there history with the envolvment in the construction of this railway line Then you should have already been if not its time to go.

Awesome!

Richard_D, Dec 2023
A very well organized routine for the day. Texting your pick up time.,arriving on time .Delivery to destinations in a comfortable van type vehicle with plenty of A/C.Tour guide (Rach) made the day a fascinating adventure .He was Always there to give us more info or help with not understanding a whatever.Day went like the plan given. It’s a wonderful knowledgeable journey .The information will last a life time. I would repeat this day!

Worthwhile, with some caveats

Robert_E, Nov 2023
This was a great trip! Some considerations: 1) it is a long drive to get to the cemetery 2) The JEATH museum is old and not really worth a visit 3) I was asked to pay 300 Bath in addition to get to the bridge by boat in stead of by bus. I did not like the surprise, and the boat ride is short but worthwhile 4) I was asked to pay another 300 Bath to upgrade to a first class train ticket, in order to secure a seat and have a good view. Again, I did not like that surprise, but as I had a window seat it was worthwhile. 5) The cave and food at the restaurant are nothing special. The view from the restaurant is amazing. 5) Prepare yourself for a long ride back to Bangkok
