I booked this tour specifically because it advertised both paddleboards and kayaks. I paddleboard, my father kayaks, so this seemed perfect. When I prepaid, I emphasized that we wanted 1 paddleboard and 1 kayak. At check-in, I confirmed it again. During the final tally before heading to the water, I said it again. Only when we actually reached the water was I told there weren’t enough paddleboards. At that point, I was forced into a kayak, which is exactly what I had been trying to avoid. This was never communicated until the very last moment, which was frustrating, especially since others in the group said they would have preferred a kayak anyway. If the company had simply been upfront about their limited equipment, it could have been sorted out easily.
The tour itself was also underwhelming. We spent far too long sitting idly at a crowded cenote, breakfast was just a couple pieces of cut-up fruit, and there wasn’t much to see or do overall. The guide was friendly and even offered me his paddleboard at the very end, but by then it felt like too little, too late. The guides and the quality of the paddleboards look good, those are the good points of this tour.
For a tour company that markets itself as a paddleboard experience, not having enough boards ready was disappointing, and the overall pacing and value of the trip fell short.

Hola! We think you may have taken the tour with another company, because at DayTour Bacalar we have over 30 paddleboards and it is very rare we run out of paddles to offer. All our departures are from Casa China Bacalar and our tours include coffee, natural fruit drinks, and local fruit for breakfast, so it sounds like a different experience.

Angelo was an amazing guide, really informative and multilingual to cater for the different nationalities. He was very friendly and knowledgable, sharing info on the lake and cenotes as we went. The experience itself was fantastic, with amazing views, nice fruit and drinks to keep you going after the early rise. Well worth it. You are also welcome to stick around afterwards and use the other facilities

Absolutely worth waking up early for. Adrian and his dog Suzy were wonderful. I was nervous to stand up and afraid to enter the black lagoon but his patience with me allowed me to experience it all and not miss out. He even captured the most amazing photo of me. Definitely recommend this as it was the highlight of my trip.

Angelo was very professional, kind, caring for us. We were several people who never paddled before and he taught us well. I was very scared but he reassured me, and really helped. He’s a very good teacher. He gave us tips to paddle better as well. The tour was super nice, chill, we had all the time we needed, there was no rush. The sunrise was amazing. We Aldo’s has explanations about the local fauna and flora. We ended up all getting to know each other and having a great time. Angelo spent some time discussing with each of us, in so many languages !
It was an amazing morning.
I cannot stress enough how amazing this tour was!! You really really have to do it !

First of all: Pelu was an amazing and such a kind guide! You could definitely tell she loves nature and the lagoon specifically given all the information she happily provided us with.
Also, the lagoon is beautiful - one the sun came out, you could see its incredible colours.
However, we thought the organisation (it seems mostly the communication between Viator and the actual provider) was rather poor. We felt like, had there not been another person who booked straight with the actual provider, our tour would have never happened as they didn’t really know about us coming.
Also, the claim here on Viator of a “continental breakfast” is a bit of a joke. We were literally given three chunks of watermelon each plus a few more pieces of fruit each. There were two bottles of water for the three of us.
The promoted warm-up never happened.
There’s also quite a bit of confusion about the time of the meet-up: it says 6 at some point, 6:30 at another - for us it would have been enough to arrive there at 6:30.
The tour was roughly 2-2,5 hrs not 3,5 like promoted.

El tour para ver el amanecer en la laguna mientras ves el sol salir y los reflejos en el agua es una experiencia única e inolvidable que recomiendo a todo el mundo que pueda hacerla.
Quiero agradecer personalmente a Ángel nuestro instructor ya que desde el primer momento tuvimos una conexión especial con el. Es una persona muy amable y simpática que hace que el tour merezca más la pena aún si cabe nos explicó en todo momento la historia sobre la laguna y nos llevó a sitios únicos todo ello acompañado de una charla sobre naturaleza y medioambiente increíble.
Recomiendo si lo hacéis poder hacerlo con el ya que la experiencia no os va a defraudar.

Fue muy hermoso. Ángel muy carismático como guía, pero la Laguna y sus vistas espectaculares se llevan las palmas.
