We had a great time, we learnt about how rum is made and also had to taste the rum they produced. Had a chance to be able to make and take home your own rum. The guys were very informative and helpful in every way. Totally different experience, so much fun.

The staff was so accommodating since we were a little late due to island time, haha! They were so friendly and fun and we learned so much about the history of rum making and the island. Tip: do eat before you go. You will be drinking a lot of rum in the process!

The process of adding the flavors to the rum was easy but would have liked a little better direction on pairings. It was difficult to determine if the overall combinations would work but it was cool to be able to create a label with our own unique name. The wax sealed top was also a nice touch. The one of team member's that was there the day of our event could have been a little more helpful. My husband was interested in a shirt and she just seemed very disinterested in interacting with any of the groups once we had finished up so he didn’t buy one. Overall, I would recommend because of the fun process of coming up with the name, mixing flavors and of course getting to sample several of the different Rums available.

Really informative and inclusive session, highly recommend it to take home a fabulous hand made treasure from your holiday! the road down to the bay is steep, windy and nasty potholes on couple of bends so watch that if your in a rental.

This was such a fun experience. The ladies who led our group were funny and full of knowledge about the process. My husband and I made 2 completely different flavors of rum. It makes for a nice way to remember our trip once home. Be sure to eat before you come - you will try lots of rum while there :)

This was a really fun and different experience, we got to taste their rum and then combine flavours to make your own bottle that you name and take home. The girls leading the class were really friendly and fun, really recommend! It’s near Shirley Heights so would be a good trip to add on if you’re going!

Best to get a taxi to experience as you get a lot of shots to try. Clear instructions throughout and great knowledge from the host. Hands on experience making and mixing of the rum.

We visited the Rum Academy in mid-August, which is considered the down season in Antigua—lucky for us, because we ended up being the only group there! That meant we got incredibly personalized attention throughout the entire course, which made the experience not only informative but full of fun and laughter. The staff were warm, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about their craft, which made the whole vibe feel like a private masterclass with friends. The rum flight was absolutely delicious—each sample had its own unique character, and tasting them side by side really helped us appreciate the nuances. When planning our trip to Antigua, this was the very first excursion I booked, and I’m so glad I did. He especially loved diving into the distilling process, which perfectly complemented his existing knowledge of mead making and moonshine. It was the perfect blend of education and entertainment. One of the best parts? You get to take home your own bottle of rum, crafted during the course! Just a heads-up: pack some bubble wrap in your checked luggage to keep your bottle safe on the journey home. Trust me, you’ll want to savor it later and relive the memories. If you’re looking for a unique, hands-on experience in Antigua that combines culture, craftsmanship, and a splash of good humor, the Rum Academy is a must. Highly recommend!

Custom rum

They will run the still for you while they describe how the rum is made. You get a few samples of their rum and then the fun starts. You get to try some of the flavorings and you take a sip of the rum straight off the still. They tell you how to mix everything and proof it down, pour it into the bottle and custom label it (have a name for your bottle ready). Overall worth the trip to the distillery just to have a custom flavored bottle of rum
