The trip from Rome on a beautiful high speed train took 3 1/2 hrs each way but we still had 7 hrs to enjoy beautiful Venice! Our guide, Anto, was superb and kept us on track while providing a wealth of information! We were able to learn about Venice and could stay with her while walking to St Mark’s Square or go off on our own once we covered the necessary final meeting place and reviewed the timeline so we’d all be on time.
It was our only chance to see Venice and was well worth the train ride and long day! We highly recommend this tour if you are in Rome and want to see as much of Italy as you can. Thank you Viator for providing this tour!!

Yohana was an excellent guide. She made sure to attend to all requests and helped everyone to navigate Venice in the best ways. Also, she is extremely talented with her ability to speak 5 languages! We truly enjoyed our group and would book again.
Jacob was amazing! I’d give this tour with him 10 out of 5 stars if I could. I walked away wiser and also experienced the most fabulous destination I’ve ever been to.
This is a very long trip to do in one day. It was pretty exhausting. The tour company booked kind of crummy seats with very little leg room, which made 7+ hours on the train (round trip) more painful than it needed to be. But other than that, Alessandro did a good job getting us where we needed to be and providing useful information. Venice is beautiful and incredibly interesting.
It’s a huge day but well worth it. Our guide Valentina was superb, could not have asked for more. Knowledge, charming, fun!
Great tour. We loved our guide Jojo - so helpful with useful tips and very chilled approach. Venice was a highlight for us.
Our excursion on the fast train was a great learning experience. We loved the train and seeing the countryside of Italy. Venice was Amazing! Lots of walking and delicious cannolis 😋
Shoutout to my man, Jacob. He was amazing. Good communicator, super patient, super chill. I really appreciate his knowledge and his care. Highly recommend this trip and ask for Jacob. This tour is long but super informative and gives you plenty of time to be independent. Jacob will give you options and tell you where everything is and send you points to walk to if you’re unsure where you’re going. I also love that he gives you a transmitter and headphones so you can hear what he’s saying. You will really enjoy this tour.
It was a great experience overall! On the train our guide Autonella made sure we knew all the expectations before getting there. She made sure if we had questions she answered them as concisely. The initial walk through was quick but we had plenty of time to peruse the city as we wished! I was able to grab lunch, take a gondola ride, do some souvenir shopping and even saw a glass blowing demonstration!! I took lots of photos and our guide made sure to take us to and also pointed out all the best photo opportunities. All in all I am extremely pleased with my experience and would definitely do I it again!
It was simply a great experience. The tour operator was very friendly, attentive, and caring. I will certainly recommend Viator to my friends.

Apparently this used to be a highly rated tour. However, I agree with the most recent reviews. The guide, while she was nice, only escorted us on the trains, took us to a meeting spot, and that was it until we met later to go home. She was speed walking to the spot so we missed a lot on the way. When she was asked to slow down, she said she can't walk that slow. Several fell behind as not every one was young. Not worth the price. You get the train ticket, $2 taxi ticket, one drink, one small food item at the happy hour, useless map, and headset just to board and walk to a meeting point. A map was provided but it was a copy so there was no legend with it. Can book your own excursion with the same results for a lot less. Venice, of course, was beautiful and is worth seeing. Two stars only for, yes there was a train and yes, they got us to Veice.

Dear Michele,
We’re sorry to hear that the experience did not meet your expectations, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback.
We would just like to clarify one point: our colleague is not a tour guide, but a Tour Leader, whose role is to be a point of reference throughout the day, helping guests with logistics and providing support during the trip.
Thank you again for your feedback — it is valuable to us and helps us keep improving our experiences.
Kind regards,
Gray Line I Love Rome
The trip to Venice was excellent. We hit all the high points of the city. Enough time to ride gondolas, lunch and shopping.
I found this tour very expensive for what we got. The tour itself was 30 minutes long and we basically walked around Venice all day. It’s a good thing I know a bit about Venetian history. It would of been much cheaper to buy a ticket at the Roman Termini and do it that way!

Dear Valerie,
We are sorry to hear that the experience did not fully meet your expectations.
As this is a one-day trip, the time available in Venice is necessarily limited, and the itinerary is designed to allow our guests to experience the city within the time available. Throughout the experience, our staff accompanies the group and remains available as a point of reference for any needs or assistance.
That said, we are glad to hear that you appreciated Venice itself and had the opportunity to explore the city.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us.
Kind regards,
Gray Line I Love Rome
I'm giving it a 5 star because the tour guide was nice and helpful. And Venice overall is beautiful and such a magnificent city, with a beautiful Church square.
However, we went in July. It was extremely hot and too crowded.
also, make sure to do the gondola ride. I thought that's what the ticket was for, but I was mistaken. It was for the boat that takes the people back to the Train Station.
Do not book this tour. Complete waste of money as you can book your own train tickets. The guide gets you on train both times. That is all. Gulia walked us to the "meeting spot" for apertivo after our day and said meet me back here at 5pm. That's all, apparently she cannot take us around to tour. We toured by ourselves and got our own go gondola ride. The apertivo was horrible sitting out all day in the Italy heatwave. You can save money and buy your own train tickets as this tour is not worth the money spent.

Dear Jennifer,
Thank you for sharing your feedback.
We would like to kindly clarify that this tour is designed and described as an assisted experience, not a guided tour of the city. The service includes assistance with the train journey, pre-arranged train tickets, coordination on site, and an aperitivo before the return, allowing guests to enjoy free time independently once in Venice.
Our goal is to make the day easier and more comfortable for our guests by taking care of the travel arrangements, tickets, and logistics, so they do not have to manage these details on their own.
We are sorry that the aperitivo did not meet your expectations, especially considering the very high temperatures during the day. We believe the heat wave did have an impact on your experience.
Kind regards,
The Team
A care free day trip, small group of 7, our tour guide made it completely worry free, from meet up to getting taxis home. Perfect amount of time in Venice for a day trip. A lot of steps but we are 70 and 72 and handled the walk well. Had almost 6+ hrs in Venice, did a nice guided 40 min walk to St. Marks Square and then had from 12:30 to 5pm to eat take a gondola ride, shop and cruise on the water taxi until happy hour at 5. Perfect. Totally recommend.

Dear Bill,
Thanks so much for your review!
We're glad that your day in Venice was so smooth and enjoyable from start to finish.
It’s great to know you felt well looked after throughout the trip and that you had plenty of free time to experience the city at your own pace.
We're especially happy to read that the walking route was comfortable for you and that the itinerary struck the perfect balance.
Thank you for your recommendation!

Great experience! Our tour guide was so sweet and knowledgeable! It was a very hot day and she made sure to keep us in shade as much as possible. She had great recommendations and was easy to talk to. Happy hour was fun as well!
It was a long, but fun day. Worth going to see. Make sure you do your research before going because there is no guided tour in Venice. You are just lead to the main square and left on your own for the rest of the day. You are given a ticket for the water bus, but we didn’t have time to use it.
Definitely do if you’ve never been to Venice! Was definitely worth the travel time. The St Mark’s Cathedral and museum were spectacular! Graziella was very organized, enthusiastic and helpful! Great experience all around! Thanks from North Carolina, USA!
Great trip to Venice. Really recommend having a guide to make sure everything goes right. We had a great time and felt like our guide cared about us and our safety.

Yohana was a great tour guide and very helpful. Venice was as beautiful as I had imagined. It was pricey but worth it.

It is a long day but very slow paced. It is a beautiful ride on the train through the country and once you're in Venice, there is a lot of free time for shopping, eating, gondola rides, etc. The tour guides are available to assist when needed and very informative of what you will see and do while in Venice.
The "high-speed" train was a joke. Our 4 hour trip took 5 hours there and 5 hours back. Our train car was so hot!
Glad we got to see Venice, but suggest finding a different tour that can get you there faster.

Dear Sandra,
Thank you for your feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed visiting Venice and that the destination itself met your expectations.
We are sorry that the train journey felt longer than expected. However, we would like to clarify that the travel time between Rome and Venice by high-speed train is approximately 4 to 5 hours, which is currently the fastest rail connection available. Given the distance between the two cities, alternative train services would actually take considerably longer.
Regarding the temperature in your carriage, we are sorry for the inconvenience you experienced. Occasional technical issues or unexpected circumstances can unfortunately occur.
Best regards,
Gray Line I Love Rome
Grace was wonderful. That was the only good thing about the day. The rest of the day was a Hugh let down to something that my husband and I were looking forward to. Long train ride, extremely dirty area, people aren’t nice, actually very rude to Americans. The happy hour was a waste. Drinks that were allowed and the appetizers were inedible. Should not add this a a part of the excursion. Was a big let down and waste of money. Would definitely not recommend this excursion!!!!
Gulia was a wonderful tour guide! Very helpful. The tour was great! Had a great time with people on tour as well.

We’re so happy to hear you had a great experience with Giulia and enjoyed the "Venice Day Trip from Rome by High-Speed Train with Happy Hour" and the group as well.

Complete waste of money. Buy your own train ticket and go yourself. You’ll have the same experience and save 90%.
Same tour group at the Colosseum which we loved. We were understanding with the confusing on the Colosseum tickets. A day later the shoe was on the other foot. Unfortunately daughter was sick and they were not as kind and understanding wouldn’t refund.
Pay attention to instructions. If you can find a way to fit this into your trip while in Rome do so! The Gondola ride has to be part of your experience. The scenic view on the train of the countryside was beautiful. Our tour guide Anto was a blessing in so many ways. Venice was so incredible.
Moana was a gracious host. She made it a very enjoyable experience. Venice is a fantastic visit. Ciao.
Venice is a beautiful city to visit! On this tour, we had plenty of time to explore and see everything that we wanted to see. However, the tour was lacking because the headsets that we used to hear our tour guide were crackling and buzzing so much that we couldn’t hear most of what she said.
Another reason for the tour being disappointing was the fact that we were traveling as a group of four and on the return train ride to Rome, they did not put the four of us together. One of us had to sit away from the group. We were not able to play cards on the way back since our seats were screwed up. And this happened even though we had purchased these tickets months in advance.
So, in short, Venice was amazing but the tour itself not so great.
Our tour guide, Anto was very knowledgeable and ensured we had a guided tour with her if we chose or time to explore on our own. She supplied a lot of information on Venice. The trip on the train was easy to navigate and we had plenty of time to see everything while in Venice.
