This was so much fun! Small ancient towns, amazing lunch with wine in a five hundred year old winery. Kiara did an excellent job pointing out medieval towns on the way and information needed to get back to the bus and spots to see. Trip was looonnng! But the seats were comfortable and the driver great. Highly recommend.

Meet up was easy and well planned. The tour bus was clean. The tour guide was very friendly and informative. Spent time in two Tuscan towns and had a wonderful lunch with wine tasting / pairing. Time flew by. It was a great day. Bring battery pack, water, and a snack for the bus.

Board your coach in Rome, and relax on the road to Montepulciano, a small wine town that shows off Tuscany at its best. Explore its center on a walking tour, seeing the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and learning about the prestigious "vino nobile” of Montepulciano.

After a visit to Tempio di San Biagio, a Renaissance church backed by Val d’Orcia’s undulating hills, it’s time for lunch. Savor a 3-course meal of local fare, and sample the region’s wine, including the Brunello di Montalcino.

In the afternoon, enjoy free time in Pienza. Its UNESCO-listed historic center was realized in Renaissance times by Pope Pius II, and it remains as impressive today as it was in the pontiff’s days.

This tour was great. Our guide Chiara was excellent. The scenery was beautiful. The towns were so picturesque. Looks like a long tour but there is plenty of free time and rests on the coach. We learnt so much about Rome and Tuscany. The lunch was not bad. The spaghetti was great, and you get to try 7 local wines together with other local produce. I would highly recommend this one.

Want a refund!!!!!!!!!

Jeanette_B, Oct 2026
We we received an email to arrive a 0710 and didn’t seat on the bus till 0815… we waited an extra 40 minutes from when we were told to return to the bus at the 1st stop which was a small shop, restrooms and cafe.. the tour guide could not locate the 2 American women (which cost those travelers 100 euro to return to the tour via taxi)… at the 1st town we visited the tour guide left a young single Canadian women behind after waiting only 10 minutes.. this poor women contacted the guide as to the location of the Vineyard and was told to consult her booking for the information (which was not listed)… the vineyard was the group be g led to a small basement area for a few minutes to hear the history and then proceeded to the tasting( where the tour guide told us to ask for more wine and or food we were pleased with)… it was booked as a 3 course lunch… the 1st course was a selection of bruschetta, cheeses(which I told the tour guide I was allergic to) and 3 slices of cured meats.. there were 3 glasses which each were poured with 2 mouthfuls to drink.. we asked a passing server to refill our glasses and he refused… thankfully we were at the end of a table and twice we went in search of the tour guide for assistance and she was nowhere to be found.. the 2nd course was a small portion of pasta(that was very good).. again we attempted to ask servers for refills and were again poured 2 mouthfuls of wine with a look of disgust… the 3rd course was 2 bite size pieces of biscotti with a bit of liquor poured over… incredibly disappointed by service and portion size… after a 5 minute stop at a church for photos we waited again 10 extra minutes while a Indian couple took photos insight of the tour operator who did not hurry them along…we returned 35 minutes late (where our driver texted he couldn’t wait) and didn’t return to the drop off location that was listed in the tour documentation.. a guest asked for help locating taxis and we were given very vague instructions as where to go.. it was the kindness of 2 other guests who helped us reach the taxis… the tour was 52 guests which the operator didn’t seem able to manage such a large number..We have traveled with Viator extensively and this is the 1st poor review I have submitted.. requesting a refund!!! Locations and quests were lovely..

This trip to Tuscany was fabulous. Our guide Sara was wonderful and gave us tons of great info along the way. The long day was definitely worth it considering how many places we stopped, I would highly recommend this tour. Lunch and wine tasting being included was a nice touch!

This is a group outing and not a personal tour. Because of the travel time it is a tight schedule, you cannot just go around doing your own thing. Still worth the experience!!

City wonder tour guides

Christine_S, Oct 2026
The itinerary was diverse, there was a lot of steps and hills to walk. The views they showed us took your breath away. But the crowning glory was Viviana, the city wonders tour guide she was knowledgeable,,had a great personality, took her time with all 52 of us. Thank you viator foir partnering with city wonders. And Claus the expert guide was quite a delight.

A quick way to see a bit of Tuscany

Alina_S, Oct 2026
The tour takes you to some beautiful medieval cliffside towns, with a guided tour through one of the two. The views were stunning! There was no visit to a vineyard, just inside the house of the wine-making farm that hosted us for lunch. The wine tasting during lunch had 4 red and 1 white wine, with generous pours, but we did not try the promised Brunello. The lunch was cheese & meats, bruschetti and a tomato pasta.

One for the books. No rain today

Donita_A, Oct 2026
Our trip was perfecto. Our driver was so warm and pleasant. He even taught us Italiano along the way. Also... yesterday we went on a rainy day trip. Alessandro was an magnificent tour guide. The bus was in an uproar and he did an amazing job!!!

Birthday in Tuscany!

Cheryl_S, Oct 2026
It was fantastic. Very good time at the tasting. We were treated like family. Three people at my table, including myself, were having their birthday that day so they brought us out a little desert with candles. Very nice.

This was a most informative tour. The tour guide Barbara was very knowledgeable and inviting without being overwhelming. She was encaging with everyone and made it fun.

Lived my Tuscan dream!

Sandra_K, Oct 2026
The trip gave me exactly what I wanted but the one hour walking tour was quite challenging for an 80 year old woman with arthritis. And made worse because in the early rush I forgot my cane and my sturdy walking shoes. But so many people were helpful. The “brochure” just says “not wheelchair accessible.” These are hilly hilltop villages. I skipped walking the second one and just sat and people watched. I was so happy to have driven through and seen as much as we did. This was a 12-hour day and very affordable for the experience. Francesca and driver Antonio were delightful. I loved how our walking tour guide Klaus (from Stuttgart) told us how he came to Italy and stayed. He told us about his life in la Toscana. Highly recommend and am looking forward to my upcoming Amalfi tour.

Beautiful Tuscany

flureno, Oct 2026
Tuscany is beautiful. This is a very long day. The tour guide was very knowledgeable but we stopped on our way to Tuscany at a gift shop/cafe place on the way and she told us to save our shopping for that same place for on the way back and that their prices were cheaper than in the villages. This was not true. I had priced several items and they were more reasonable in the two villages we went to and when we returned to the same place on the way back, there were 6 other buses there and two checkout stands. You could barely walk thru the store. It was crazy and the cafe only had two people working there as well. One stop at this place is enough and the one in the am was not crowded at all. The lunch we had at the Tuscan family owned farm was mediocre. We were so looking forward to some authentic homemade Italian food but it was a disappointing meal. Not much flavor to anything. The beauty of Tuscany and the villages make this tour worth doing, it just had some things that I think should be changed.

A great time in Wine country!

Waddellchiro1, Oct 2026
The Tuscany region was beautiful. Montepulciano is amazing. The lunch at the winery was great and the owners of the winery treated us very well!

Rome: Tuscany & Montepulciano Day Trip with Lunch & Wine Tasting

Daniel_M, Sept 2026
The meeting place was easy to find. The driver and guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Montepulciano was an interesting place and the wine tasting in the castle was excellent. Lunch in a small town was good with a glass of local wine included.

The best of the best!

Eden_C, Sept 2026
Claudio was our driver and he was absolutely amazing! He was professional, kind, experienced, and made us feel special throughout the entire day. He was not only an excellent driver but he also shared history with us, drove us to some great spots for photos, and made sure we had the best experience with our tour guides at each stop. Francesca, our tour guide at Montepulciano, was also amazing and we learned so much history as well as fun stories about the town…and she also took us to some unique shops that we would have never found on our own! Everything just felt easy and well organized. Most importantly, Claudio helped make my mother’s birthday trip incredibly special. We truly enjoyed spending the day with him and are so grateful for his kindness and excellent service. My family and I would highly recommend Claudio and would absolutely request him again!

Great experience, great views 10/10 recommend

Shane_E, Sept 2026
Travelled to montepulchiano and pienza, we stopped at a local vineyard for wine tasting with a 3 course meal (lots of cheese/salami, home made pasta, and dessert). The wine was delicious and the fresh pasta even better. The staff at the vineyard were welcoming and very sweet. Our tour guide Kiara was fantastic. This trip to Tuscany with the views was well worth the full day experience. 10/10 would recommend!! Grazie Kiara and the full staff that were there alone the way today.

Day in Tuscany

Charlotte_M, Sept 2026
This day tour from Rome is excellent if you’re looking to see a little bit of Tuscany. The three towns were like a postcard. It’s a long day, but well worth it. Claudio was definitely a 5 star driver & guide. Everything was perfect. Also, Sarah, our guide in Montepulciano, was so passionate about her country. The stops for lunch in Pienza and at the winery in Montalcino, were also great. This was one of our favorite tours.

We had a wonderful day...

Great Tours w/ City Wonders and Charming Guide Laura

Antonia_D, Sept 2026
The guide Laura was superb; quirky, funny and knowledgeable. She kept a good pace and PATIENCE :) even with those coming a little late back to the bus but "hooray" when we all became consistent with punctuality. LOL, Although the hike of Montepulciano was tough, it was amazing to be in the tranquil vibe of Tuscany. Great experience with this tour company City Wonders.

End of trip in beautiful Tuscany

Rosanne_a, Sept 2026
Had a wonderful time exploring the side of Tuscany we haven't seen. We had a good glimpse of some lovely villages that we might want to stay in the next time around. The group tour was fun and got to experience some delicious Tuscan wine and foods. Some little time to shop and explore on our own.

Even if you don't love...

Julie_R, Sept 2026
Even if you don't love wine, as I do, this is a magnificent way to experience Tuscany. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this excursion, and was very grateful that our guide Antonino was attentive to my accessibility needs. I use a mobility aid to get around, and he very kindly checked in on me at regular intervals to ensure I was as comfortable as I could be. I come from an area that is particularly hilly and has many historic castles, which I visit frequently, so I knew that I would manage this, but the extra care taken by Antonino was hugely appreciated. The food and wine was incredible, the views took my breath away, and I am very grateful to Antonino for recommending the pecorino gelato, it was delicious!

amazing!!!!

Tristan_D, Sept 2026
Its all day but so worth it. It was breathtaking, the towns were so quaint and the 3 course meal & wine at the farm was outstanding.

Great day trip

Denise_W, Sept 2026
