Your guide will meet you at the final kiosk on the Luquillo beach strip, beside the iconic black-and-white restaurant, La Parrilla.
Pickup details
We’ll meet at the iconic Los Kioskos de Luquillo at 8:00 AM in front of La Parrilla, the black and white restaurant at the end of the strip. I recommend arriving a few minutes early so we can begin the experience on time. I’ll send you a quick message when I’m on the way so you’ll know exactly what vehicle to look for. If Los Kioskos isn’t convenient for you, feel free to reach out ahead of time. I’m happy to help arrange an alternate pickup location in or around Luquillo whenever possible. For guests staying in San Juan or coming from Cruise Ports, additional transportation options are available. Feel free to reach out for any additional information. We’ll spend the morning exploring the rainforest and hidden coastline, with an expected return around 11:30 AM-12:00 PM.

Highlight of our time in Puerto Rico! Matthew was a great guide and the personalised trip made our experience in Yunque perfect. He provided a customised trip based on our preferences, and offered interesting information and asides that demonstrated his in-depth knowledge about the rainforest/region. Yunque herself was amazing and showed off on her own :) but it was nice to experience on this stress-free, relaxed tour. I felt I learned a lot about the rainforest in a fun way and left me wishing we had more time! Strongly recommend.

Matthew’s tour from start to finish was absolutely amazing!! I would highly recommend this tour if you want a fully customized day that avoids the crowds! Matthew is very knowledgeable about the rain forest and all it has to offer. We started down a short trail that ended at a swimming area. We also fed the trout and swam with them. It was really cool and I’m so glad I took the plunge! Both going down and coming back Matthew educated us on the vegetation, etc. It was very informative and exactly what we were wanting. Next, we drove to some waterfalls. Going up Matthew pointed out an area where we could get into the water near a lower waterfall. We were the only ones at this location. As we made our way up to the next level there weee quite a few people. Matthew suggested going even further up. While this climb was a bit challenging for us I’m so glad we did it and saw another area of the waterfall where we had the area to ourselves. At the end, we climbed up the tower to get a 360 view of the rainforest and the town of Luquillo below. We captured some amazing pictures and were able to move at our own pace which we really enjoyed.

We weren’t sure what to expect and were a bit nervous about it being a private tour, but Matthew made us feel comfortable right away. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the rainforest and made sure we got to see and experience everything we wanted. He was wonderfully patient and encouraged us to go at our own pace, which made the whole experience so much more enjoyable. He even took the kids on trails we never would’ve attempted on our own, and they had an amazing time. We really appreciated how friendly, attentive, and informative he was throughout the entire tour. A private tour is the best way to go. We had so much fun and learned a lot about the rainforest. Our tour guide made this a memorable experience, especially our time at the waterfalls. If you get lucky enough to have Matt as your guide you are in for an amazing day. The entire four hours was full and engaging and left us with pictures and videos to last a lifetime. It was so great to be hands-on with the fish with the plants and with the entire ecosystem of the rainforest. If you are going to do anything else while you are in Puerto Rico, make sure the rainforest is one of your stops and if you want a more engaging experience, I would suggest doing a private tour so you don’t have to wait around for pictures and lines with your own group

Our private tour of El Yunque with Matthew was absolutely incredible. He took us to spots that only locals know about — beautiful hidden trails, waterfalls, and some of the best views in the entire park. His knowledge of the area, the ecosystem, and the history was impressive, and he really tailored the day to our interests and pace. It felt like exploring with a friend who genuinely loves the island.
To top it off, Matthew recommended a fantastic lunch at the Kioskos by the beach — the perfect way to end the day. Highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to experience the real El Yunque!

We had such a fantastic experience touring El Yunque in Puerto Rico with our private guide, Matthew! From start to finish, he made the entire day fun, informative, and memorable. Everything about this tour was wonderful. We were staying in San Juan and didn't have a car, but easily took an Uber to and from the meet-up point in Luquillo.
Matthew was patient, and very thoughtful in curating an unforgettable experience for us. He also has such a delightful sense of humor. We were able to see and enjoy popular spots by ourselves before other visitors arrived, and even took some amazing pictures.
Highly recommend this activity. Stop overthinking it, and just book it! :)

Special experience. Matthew is a sweetheart, kind and incredibly knowledgeable about the rainforest. He was patient with my two young boys and he made sure to never rush us. We told him the kind of experience we wanted and he delivered. Not many rainforest tour guides in PR as awesome as Matthew! Plus, it's a private tour!!! Better than being part of those large 30+ person groups. 1000% recommend!!!
