Your day trip to Neuschwanstein Castle starts with the train or bus journey from Munich through the German countryside. The entrance fee to the castle is not included (you can pay on the day), but by booking this tour in advance, you receive skip-the-line access to Neuschwanstein so you won’t waste time standing in the ticket queue.
Once inside the enchanting structure, take a tour with a guide, who shares fascinating stories about the reclusive Bavarian king who commissioned a new residence in the 19th century. Thought to be mad, King Ludwig II desired a fantasy castle built in the mountains, an obsessive feat that was still incomplete when he died. This was an amazing day. What beautiful country side to see as you ride to the castle. The castle was beautiful and very elaborate. Definitely worth the trip. Connie our tour guide was amazing. She was very knowledgeable and funny. Would definitely recommend her as your tour guide!

Jake our tour guide was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Castle was absolutely worth the visit. The tour itself didn't require it to be so long, it could've included Linderhof castle and it still wouldn't have taken that long. We spent a lot of time waiting around doing nothing.

Thank you for sharing your honest feedback. Whilst you can visit the location in maybe also 7 hours in a crazy rush, dont people on their vacation visit a location at a relaxed and enjoyable pace ? We certainly believe it the fact that days like this should be special and should be treated with a certain timeframe to allow for it it also!

Tour guide (Stephanie) was very knowledgeable and interesting.
Overall, we enjoyed the tour but there was too much down time resulting in a long day. It could easily be reduced by two hours.

Was not expecting much. Went with a friend who wanted to see the Cinderella castle. Jeremy really brought the history to life and I enjoyed his humor. He provided just enough well-timed narration throughout the day. Thank you. Even w torrential downpour and the bus breaking down, I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Neuschwanstein Castle provided a delightful escape from the busy city of Munich. The commute was smooth, with reliable and clean transportation, making the journey very comfortable. Our driver was very safe, and we felt at ease throughout the trip. Our guide, Nick with Radius, was friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone seeking to explore a charming town near Munich. The food and beverages were reasonably priced. Please remember to bring Euros for purchases near the castle. The castle itself was stunning, and Nick showed us several lesser-known highlights in the area, away from large crowds, offering a personalized and accommodating experience for our group. Fabulous experience from start to finish. Our driver and tour guide were both wonderful; educational, funny and polite. The drive was pleasant, and the tour itself was perfect! Just enough time to have a bite to eat, explore the town, do some hiking around Mary’s bridge for some amazing views of the castle, and then an indoor tour with time afterwards for souvenirs and quick beverage before heading back. I personally feel doing both castles in one day would be too rushed. 10/10 would recommend this tour!

Mark was wonderful and so personable. He was fun and informative. He told us so many wonderful things about the region, the history of the castle and King Ludwig. It was so much fun. The bus driver was great as well getting us safely to and from our excursion.

This was an all-day tour that took us to and from the castle by bus. On the grounds were two museums, but we only booked one.
Our guide, Mark, was very knowledgeable. Because certain areas were closed due to snowy weather, he walked the group up to the castle. Mark perfectly timed each stop along the way, not only so we could catch our breaths, but so he could regale us with more facts and stories.
The inclination is steep as you head to the top---my heart rate topped over 144 at one point. It took us about 30-40 minutes to reach the castle. One could take a horse-drawn carriage that would bring you most of the way but not to the top.
So, there is no avoiding walking and steps. The castle tour itself is barely 30 minutes and involves taking loads of steps going up and coming down different staircases.
It was a memorable, if grueling experience. But the picturesque town offers quaint shopping and lots of good snacks.
Warning: if you have physical limitations (I had a recent knee replacement), are elderly, or your body is not use to physical stress, getting to the castle for a visit can be grueling. (While descending from the castle can be tough, it is much easier than trying to hike to the top of the hill.)

Thanks Carol for taking the time to review your tour to the castle with Mark and Radius Tours. Yes, the bus service is not running when it is really bad weather, but, as you have correctly stated you can go by horse drawn carraige, which means you only have to walk about 5 min to the castle.

If you’re on the fence about booking this tour, go ahead and book it—you won’t regret it. Our experience started off smoothly, with an easy-to-find office and a seamless check-in process. From the moment we met our guide, we felt well taken care of from start to finish.
I can’t say enough great things about our guide, Anna. She was confident, funny, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring. At the beginning, she took the time to ask where each of the 35 guests was from—and somehow remembered everyone. My husband and I travel often and have been on many tours, but we’ve never encountered a guide with this level of attentiveness. She always knew who was with the group and could immediately tell if someone was missing at a meeting point.
On the bus ride to the castle, her passion for the subject really stood out. She kept us engaged, curious, and eager to learn more. She also answered every question we had—even the random, unrelated ones I threw her way!
Anna is truly a warm, kind and exceptional person. She made our day unforgettable and elevated the entire experience far beyond our expectations.

This trip was wonderful and Lana was an amazing guide. She was funny, informative, and I believe I learned a lot during our hike up to the castle and during transportation to and from the castle. Lana was very honest about how long certain routes to and from the castle would take and offered her expert knowledge at every step.
