Truly a wonderful experience! It was so much fun to see all the different options and to get to make something no one else can buy!
The only thing is, I wish they had given the “lesson” on the tartan and tweed before selection! It would have given me a greater appreciation while I was looking at them.
I wish the group was a bit smaller, there were far too many people in a very small shop all vying for the same shelves. It made picking colors difficult and let to some in my group being disappointed with the final product. But apart from that, it was a great experience- Analese and Cory were both very polite and helpful. I would definitely recommend this to others if they like building things and having a unique souvenir. It’s also very nice that you can buy separate pieces to change out later if desired.
I had a nice time with my mum. Prices are reasonable and it was nice you can upgrade sizes for little to no fee. They were running a special on backpacks.

Great workshop! Had great picking out my bat and tartan lid to create my own handbag. The workshop leaders were quite helpful to ensure the crews for the bag were in place tightly.
Received so many compliments on my handbag when sporting it.. make sure to tighten your screws regularly to be sure nothing comes loose as they suggested!
This is very well done! The satchels are great and the instructors explain everything. It’s so much fun picking out the colors and parts to the bags. You leave with a completed bag and I’ve been using it throughout my trip. Highly recommend!
Had lots of fun choosing from the many options available to make my bag. Staff (Kirsty, Taylor, Sophie) were all helpful and provided easy to follow instructions. Would definitely recommend this experience.
Connor was amazing. We had the best time and thoroughly enjoyed the process of customizing our own satchels. Conner was funny, patient and very helpful with us all. The time flew by and we didn’t want it to end.

Such a fun experience and I'm thrilled with my bag! The coordinators were amazing and the selection of materials made it hard to choose. Everything is so beautiful. I especially loved the opportunity to upgrade my purchase.

What a wonderful shop and fun activity! You will see these purses and the tartan everywhere in Scotland so even if you are not sure go anyway. You are given the tools to change the tartan purse cover in case you can't decide or want seasonal changes. It's easier than it sounds and right off the royal mile if you decide later you want more purse covers. Your only disappointment will be you didn't make more than one purse for you or gifts or buy an extra tartan cover.
This is a great active way to get your souvenirs! Imogene (I have probably misspelled this name) and Mattie (also probably misspelled) were great, patient instructors. Making the bags is not too challenging and they send you home with extra hardware just in case! Bring your partner and have them make you a second bag or one to bring back to a family member as a gift. There is a special bag shape you can only get if you go to the bag making class, and also there are special tweeds that are unique to get there.
It was very easy to assemble the mini satchel. It was great to pick my own colors and then to assemble. The instructions were great and they were very helpful.

Unfortunately, this ended up being one of the most frustrating experiences of our cruise.
I had booked the purse-making class specifically as our activity for the day while our ship was in port. Because of where our ship anchored and the tender situation, we ended up arriving ashore about 40 minutes away from where we expected and realized we were going to be late.
We called immediately to explain the situation. Since we had already paid for two purses, we were told to still come to the location and that we could pick up the purse kits and take them home to complete ourselves.
We paid for a taxi and went directly to the address we were given. When we arrived, however, the staff acted as though we were interrupting them and were not particularly welcoming. We were then told that the take-home kits were actually at a completely different location.
By that point, our taxi had already left, so we had to walk to the second location.
What followed was nearly an hour of trying to find it. The address provided kept directing us to a hotel and repeatedly showing that we had “arrived,” even though there was no visible shop. We asked several people in the area and no one seemed to know where it was. We also tried calling the phone number for the second location multiple times, but the call would not even connect.
Eventually, we discovered that the shop was located in “The Arches,” underneath the road near the hotel. There was nothing about the directions we had been given that made that clear.
After finally locating the shop, the first staff member we encountered there was also dismissive and made us feel as though we were inconveniencing her simply by coming in to collect merchandise we had already paid for and had specifically been instructed to pick up.
I completely understand that our late arrival was caused by circumstances outside the business’s control, and I did not expect them to delay the class for us. What I did expect was accurate information, clear directions, a working phone number, and reasonably courteous treatment after we called ahead and followed the instructions we were given.
Instead, we spent additional money on transportation, walked around lost for nearly an hour, could not reach the second location by phone, and encountered rude or dismissive service at both locations.
What should have been a fun souvenir experience became an unnecessarily stressful and disappointing part of our port day. Better communication and basic customer service would have made a huge difference.
My mom and I came here to make a bag while in Edinburgh, we had a fabulous time. There were so many options of colors and patterns, as well at vegan or genuine leather. They allowed you to up-charge for larger or different bags. We opted to up charge £10 for a medium bag. What a wonderful time to take back from Edinburgh, highly recommend!
This was absolutely fantastic. I was worried I might not find a color I liked, but once I got in there, I realized how silly it was. There were so many selections, and I made a gorgeous bag. Everyone's bags were different, and it was really fun to watch what others chose and how their bags looked when they all came together.
I would recommend this in a heartbeat.
We had such a great time—we would highly recommend it as a way to experience Scotland and have a beautiful souvenir to leave with! The hostesses were so personable, took really great care of us and stepped right in to help when we needed it.
