What are people saying about Guanacaste and Northwest

This was a great outing!...
This was a great outing! I took my mother who is almost eighty because it looked like it would be fun but laidback enough for her level of fitness and it was. Nana was our tour guide for the day. She was very knowledgeable and engaging. Gustavo was our driver and he was incredibly kind and attentive. They were both so helpful and considerate of my mother! The stairs down to the waterfall were a little tricky so Mom didn’t do that part; but she had a pretty place to sit with a nice view with a couple of local vendors she chatted with. I did go down to the waterfall myself. It was beautiful and refreshing! The rainforest and sloth watching was really great and the trail was perfect for Mom. Diego was our naturalist and aside from being well-educated on his subject matter, he grew up in the area so he had a lot of knowledge to share. And an incredible eye! We saw things we never would have noticed on our own. Additionally, he’s an excellent photographer and helped us get some really nice shots! We had the very rare good fortune of seeing a juvenile sloth down low close to the trail. We were right next to him and he was cuter than I could have imagined! The coffee and cacao farm was also an awesome learning experience in a beautiful place. Sadly, I can’t remember the name of our guide there; but he was wonderful. We love coffee and chocolate so this was right up our alley! A traditional lunch was part of the tour and it was delicious. I would definitely recommend this tour!

Fantastic!
This was my favorite day of my vacation. Philippe, the tour guide, was very knowledgeable and entertaining. So fun! He was also very thoughtful. I took this tour on my own and he made sure I still got pictures of myself at the scenic points. Miguel, our driver, was very kind and attentive. And I had the good luck of meeting great people on the tour with me too! The hike was enjoyable exercise. I work out regularly and while I didn’t find it really challenging, it is a bit of work and there are a lot of stairs. There are several cable bridges that could be daunting to the faint of heart. That said, if you’re reasonably fit, willing to sweat and enjoy an adventure, you will love this tour! The rainforest, waterfall, hot springs, wildlife… all of it was fabulous! And the lunch was delicious! I would definitely recommend this tour and would happily do it again myself!!!

We had good weather for...
We had good weather for our trip, which gave great views of the sunset. It took us a bit to figure out which was our tour at the meeting point but thankfully there are multiple tour groups and they all sort of know each other enough to point you in the right direction. We enjoyed chatting with the other guests and the drinks and lunch were delicious! The lunch was rice, chicken, beans, salad, fruit. When packing, be beach-ready! The best part was the hour floating in a beach cove.

Fantastic Family Fun
We did a 4 hour ATV tour with Allan and Andy today through the mountains to a beautiful beach, ate an amazing lunch at a beachside restaurant, and then rode back to our meeting point. Our tour was amazing!! Andy and Allan did a fabulous job!! The tour included myself (44) my husband (44), son (16), son (13) and every member of our family loved every part of the trip. None of us have been on 4 wheelers much but Andy and Allan made us feel comfortable and confident all day. They communicated which gear we needed to be in throughout the entire tour. They made sure to slow us down when necessary and encouraged us to have fun when appropriate too. There were several areas to have fun and splash if we wanted to. We also stopped at a roadside market 1/2 way through to grab a snack a drink if we wanted and use the restroom. It was a nice way to also support a local store in the community. It started raining 1/2 way through our tour (we went during rainy season) and we got drenched but my crew loved it and thought it only enhanced their experience. I would highly recommend bringing a rain coat, a waterproof lanyard for your phone, and a waterproof bags (or a trash bag to put your bag in) for any bags you to bring. We found the bags helpful for our towels, raincoats if we didn’t wear them, and our drinks/snacks. We also wore close toed water shoes like keens and found them to be perfect. Our adventure was the perfect amount of fun, exciting and relaxing. One of the BEST parts of the day? Allan took a ton of photos and videos for us and shared them all with us at the end for free!! That gave me the opportunity to truly enjoy the day and know I would have the photos to reflect back on for a lifetime! I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone and if we come back we would absolutely book with them again.

With alluring beaches and rainforests, Costa Rica’s Guanacaste province offers some phenomenal backdrops for exciting outdoor vacation activities. It’s the ideal spot for active and adventurous travelers to sign up for ziplining through the jungle canopy, hiking to tropical waterfalls, riding an ATV along secluded beaches, or swimming in volcanic hot springs. Other Guanacaste tours include ocean snorkeling, sunset cruises, river tubing, or boating through the mangroves. If you’re looking for something a little more laid-back, you can take tours that focus on coffee, chocolate, or mezcal tasting.
