If hiking the Samaria Gorge feels too challenging, the Imbros Gorge offers a gentler alternative. This 8-kilometer trail is less strenuous but equally captivating. Imbros is the second most popular gorge in Crete, running parallel to the Samaria Gorge. It takes about 2 to 3 hours to hike, with the narrowest part just 1.60 meters wide. The first half-hour descends through wildflower meadows before narrowing dramatically. Legend has it that two brothers banished from Imbros in Turkey settled here, naming the gorge. Historically, it served as the main route between Chania and Chora Sfakion and was a critical evacuation path for British soldiers during WWII. The trek ends at Komitades, where you can relax at a local café. From there, we continue to Chora Sfakion for a swim and lunch by the Libyan Sea. Our driver will not hike with you. Its around 2 hours driving each way. Most of the hike is in the shade with a narrow trail that cannot be lost. It's good to have a sufficient supply of water and hat. Imbros gorge is a small version of Samaria gorge. The scenery is breathtaking, ideal for nature lovers and wildlife watchers. We believe its the best hike for children from 10 years old and half the size of demanding Samaria gorge. A perfect day

When we were on the wrong side of the road for pick up early in the morning, Kosta called me. Kosta & Emmanuela were a great team. When we realized we would not make our dinner reservation, Emmanuella helped us cancel the reservation at the hotel. From the music played on the bus to the knowledge of the local towns, it was a well choreographed, and sincere experience. Elofianissi was a beautiful beach. The stops were well timed for the bathroom and special treats!

Excellent Driver for Exploring Crete – Just Know It’s Not a Guided Tour

Please note this is not a guided tour—you are hiring an English-speaking driver, not a tour guide. Spiros was excellent: great English, very flexible, accommodating, and patient with our multigenerational family, which made the day smooth and enjoyable. For historical context, a separate tour guide is recommended, as Spiros focuses on transportation rather than guiding. We spent the day at a beach club and had a wonderful experience. Highly recommended for getting around the island. Transportation can be challenging, and taxis in Souda are very limited—we were nearly stranded, so having Spiros available for reliable pick-up and drop-off was invaluable.Lilia, NYC

Cave, beach and food were all amazing!

This tour is full of beautiful sights along the way. The honey & olive oil tasting was delicious while learning how it was made. The stop at the cave was the highlight for me. Note: it is over 200 steps to reach the cave, with very uneven steps. So, if you or someone in your group has difficulty walking, they have the choice to wait in the air conditioned van. The view from the cave is breathtaking. Inside, you will take a path that shows many views. After the cave, we went to a beach which is also a long walk, but beautiful, clear water. The water depth is mostly 2-3 feet but does have areas where it reaches approx. 4 -5 ft. It’s great for children because the water has movement but not strong waves. You can relax and float in the water or lay in the sandy beach. The last stop was the winery, with a variety of tastings, which also included grape syrup and olive oil to dip breads and salted olives. Everything was delicious! You can purchase anything you like to take home! We really enjoyed the entire day! Also, our ship time at the port was not as long as the tour, but our guide was able to shorten our stops yet still fit everything in and get us back on time which we really appreciated!!

Outstanding private shuttle service

We reserved a 5-hour shuttle service from the cruise ship port in Chania to Falassarna Beach. Our driver, Angela, picked us up on time and was a fantastic driver, offering lots of local history during our drive to the beach. After arriving at the beach and reserving a cabana we realized we had forgotten a cell phone and the included snorkel gear in the van. Angela was very helpful and brought the phone and gear down to us at the beach. After a couple hours we departed, and on our way back to the port we stopped at a roadside store to buy local olive oil and snacks. Angela gave us lots of advice on time management and food options. Angela then drove us to a restaurant in a less crowded neighborhood, where we had a delicious Crete lunch with many grilled meats. Overall it was a great start to our Mediterranean vacation.

Wonderful! Would book again!

Stella was wonderful! She picked us up right on time and took us to Elafonisi beach which was beautiful! She did a great job getting us there early before it go too crowded. We bought chairs with umbrellas and enjoyed the day. We walked back to the vehicle where she took us to a local restaurant in Crete that had amazing food! We loved getting to experience a local meal before getting back on our cruise ship! Would 100% book with her again!!

Perfect way to spend a day in Crete!

We loved this entire excursion from the easy pickup at a nearby hotel to the entertaining and informative tour guide Nikos to the beautiful views of the Imbros Gorge and the lovely Sfakia beach excursion. We had planned on doing the Samaria Gorge hike however it was closed when we went to Crete but we’re glad we did this tour instead since the hike itself was two hours rather than five. While we hiked, we were able to leave our beach items on the bus. The beach in Sfakia was a lovely beach that blocked the wind, was refreshing after the hike, and had some rocks to climb around on. The driver did an excellent job navigating some winding roads. Overall, this entire experience from start to finish was well worth it!
