Don’t Trust Viator.

I learned an important lesson today and that is never do business with Viator. They don’t Vet their tour partners. Two days before my tour I received an email from someone claiming to be a partner of Viator and they would be handling my tour. They went on to further say that if I canceled the tour with Viator and booked with them directly they would only charge $100 instead $167. The company she said she was with, did not match the company shown on my booking detail. Thinking it was a scam I ignored it and if it wasn’t a scam I really didn’t want to go business with them. The next day I got another message from them saying they were canceling my tour as they were double booked. Again I ignored it thinking it was a scam. Lo and behold it wasn’t a scam as when it was time for the tour no one showed up. I immediately texted Viator via their chat line and the lady who answered the chat took down all the info and said she would check. A minute or two later she came back and said well they did send you a message saying it was canceled. I told her I did get the message but believed it to be a scam. She said she just processed a total refund and I should have it in three or four days. She did not once say I am sorry. While I was writing a response to her I received another message from her saying that since I didn’t answer her, she was ending the chat session. The elapse time was less than a minute and as I am 81 years old and can’t text fast that was a quick exit. As a side note the text offering me the discounted rate if I booked directly with them was deleted from What’s App 2 minutes after my text with Viator. Seems strange to me. In closing Viator ruined my once in a life time vacation and I will not use them again.

We booked a 6-hour personalized tour with Vittorio and it was amazing! He was incredibly knowledgeable and accommodated my entire party which had 2 elderly parents in wheelchairs. His friendly personality made us feel at ease and paced the tour really well - didn’t feel rushed at all! Hana was also incredibly helpful every step of the way. She answered all my questions timely and was so professional and courteous. I would t have booked this tour with her and the help of Vittorio’s much-deserved high reviews. We had just a few hours in Venice, and we were very lucky to have Vittorio as our tour guide. He was fun, knowledgeable, and very patient. We were a large group, and he waited for us to retranslate everything he said. We had two senior citizens with us, and he adjusted the pace to their needs. I highly recommend Vittorio as anyone's tour guide.
