Our guides, Yutoshi and Love, were absolutely a joy to explore Shinjuju with. They were very knowledgeable and personable. I would do this tour again if they led it!
Meanwhile, the restaurant, drinks, and food highlighted the different types Japanese drinking dishes. And our group really gelled well, with people from different parts of the world. It was really pleasant continuing our evening together even after the tour was over. Deep gratitude to Yutoshi, Love, and the European contingent and the American for a fantastic evening.

To be honest that of all the food tours, I’ve done in different cities. This was probably my least favorite only because it didn’t really give us that much variety in food and talk too much about the neighborhood and give us any much information but it was fun. We had a really fun group which made it fun. The meeting place could’ve been a little bit more clearer. We’re a little confused about that as well but overall, we had a good time.

It was not very organized. We were not told to bring cash so paying with the group was complicated. The sake tasting was fun but the dinner spot was not very unique or special. Our host was very sweet but the evening was a little disappointing.

We went to three separate locations, I wish we had gone to a couple more just to experience different settings.
The first just feels like a chain restaurant but our guide did order a variety of good food for us to try. (You will pay for it)
The second was a fun sake tasting experience. I really enjoy led this.
The last was a small, quiet karaoke bar. We were the only 7 people there for most of the time so not a typical karaoke bar experience for myself. The karaoke was fun.
I do think your experience is dependent on the other type of people who booked this tour with you as they are the people you will spend the whole time with and none of the bar settings really allowed for socializing with locals or other folks in the bar.
Our guide was great, friendly, social and I would recommend her.
I will say we did this at the end of our seven day trip, which I think affected our experience because we were pretty tired. You will actually do quite a bit of walking on this tour to get to each place and you will have to do stairs, so not good for anybody with mobility issues. My only other complaint is that the karaoke bar was smoking friendly, and I am someone who finds the smell of cigarette smoke very displeasing.

This is an amazing experience walking, eating, drinking and singing thru the fun district of Shinjuku with fellow travellers and your best friends for next 3 hours. Totally worth it. Yutaro is an amazing guide and story teller.

Rika is the most amazing tour guide and person I met while there. This was my third tour like this in Japan. The food and sake was great, her English was amazing and she made the atmosphere friendly and lively for the 5 of us present. When we got to karaoke she started it off which was nice and even got the bartender to join in so we could hear Sparkle sung by someone with a decent voice. Highly recommend the tour guide and the locations chosen were good too.

This was just an okay experience made better by the people you end up meeting. The tour requires another essentially fixed cost at each location (~2000 yen a person), which can sometimes seem a bit steep if you're not drinking as much as others. I don't know why this fee isn't just included with the upfront cost of the tour given that it doesn't seem to fluctuate depending on what you order. The value of the tour itself isn't fantastic given this additional cost. You're basically just paying someone to shepherd you around and organize payment. I would say only the sake bar was memorable, with the other two locations being pretty generic bars. I feel like the large size of group is a limiting factor on where we can go - I was hoping on experiencing some hidden gems in a more intimate setting.
We ended up meeting some people to spend time with after the tour which salvaged our experience. Overall, even though our tour guide was a nice person, I don't think value is good for the service.

Yoshi crafted an excellent evening sampling a local experience in an Izakaya pub, sake samples and karaoke bar . This is a perfect tour whether solo or in a group as you become fast friends with your group exploring the night scene in Shinjuku

Tour was amazing! Easy to find, great drinks and easy way to meet new friends. Went to three different places, all were places to drink, first place had food!
Ended with the last stop being karaoke which is something my partner and i are not crazy about but tour guide respected that.
Tour guide was so amazing, personable, and inclusive!

If you are looking for a great night out with people from around the world, this is your tour! We had dinner, tasted sake, then did karaoke with unlimited drinks for an hour. We had a fantastic tour guide, and met wonderful people from Canada, Great Britain and the US. We had such an awesome time that we went out and did almost 3 hours more of karaoke!

Beware of this tour if you get a guide named “two beers Kota.” The tour was a full 14 persons from a mix of the US, AU, UK, Germany (I’m sure I’m missing some) and right off the bat Kota assured us he will only be having two beers which set the mood of the tour.
The first venue was a yakitori bar where for a low flat price you could practically have all you can drink and eat. About ten minutes in mister “two beers” is clearly already past his two beer limit and our group is getting a bit loud considering this is Japan. We reached our limit and was ushered to the next venue, which was a sake bar. Which is where things took a turn.
Again, for a ridiculously small flat fee we got a six course sake “flight” and our group of 14 westerners was starting to get rowdy, even starting to talk to the locals who were sitting at the table next to us. After a short 30 minutes and six shots of sake our group was in full bonding mood and Lo and behold we are literally getting kicked out! Can you believe it, Kota was making us have so much fun the bar literally kicked us out. Apparently unlike America you’re not allowed to have fun in a japanese sake bar. Ridiculous.
Anyway Kota, who clearly is a liar about his supposed two beer limit, takes us to a dark basement bar where, again for a small flat fee we have unlimited drinks from a western style bar. At this point I am panicking because when it comes to cocktails and unlimited it can only lead to too much fun and potential black outs. Mind you Kota is way beyond his two beer limit and is taking shots and making sure all 14 guests are having fun without anyone left out.
Now we were a rowdy bunch so we are way past the 3 hour tour schedule and we had to kidnap Kota and make him stay and drink with us since we need a local to transrate because as everyone knows Japanese people cant speaka engrish which everyone in the group has admitted is annoying af. So even though it is now past 1am and the basement bar is now kicking us out we drag Kota to golden gai. Scratch that we for all intents and purposes kidnapped Kota who kept claiming he needed to meet up with his “girlfriend” (yea sure buddy). And you won’t believe what he does - he ditches us around 2am and now we have to keep the party going all on our own.
I ended up getting home around 4am and I have to admit I have no recollection of what happened between 2 and 4am. To make matters worse my son locked me out of our vrbo so I had to find an Onsen around the corner and sleep in a luxurious Japanese spa for like $30. Overall what a terrible experience!
