A lotta hookers if you like Vegas it’s your place if you have kids probably not if you like low-key vibes maybe some places but if you’re crazy, I guess so.

Helpful tips

Tanna_A, Apr 2026
Heres your tips you need: bring sunscreen and use it! Wear comfy shoes and clothes. No need for a huge backpack but a small bag that you can carry that zips to keep your things in like your sunscreen and your documents. Don’t forget your documents to get across the border! You can use US dollar so no need to exchange money. When you do get a chance to go shopping, you can barter a little bit, but remember the price always goes down a lot if you walk away. Park in the parking lot behind the jack in the box and it’s cash only to park! Don’t use your card for shopping just bring cash and a lot of one dollar bills. Tip for your lunch and tip for your tour guide. I felt perfectly safe as a single woman doing the tour. If you are standing in front of the McDonald’s front doors for the tour to start, you are in the right spot. Have no other plans that day and be patient because you never know how long the border crossing will take. Andres and Tadeo are super great guides!! Just listen to them and you’ll be fine

Recommend!

Excellent tour. Carlos was fun and super knowledgeable about the city and its history. He was also very sweet accommodating my 5 year old and a stroller. I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s a great tour for young children but it worked out ok. Biggest headache was getting back over the border, long lines and super inefficient border security. Very poorly run but obviously nothing to do with the tour itself. Highly recommend!

Amazing

No_A, Mar 2026
I highly suggest this tour. One person helps you cross the border. They then hand you over to a local that takes you around town. I had Tadeo Calles and he was amazing! We took a bus to downtown which was about 5 mins away. We then walked around learning history, eating tacos, and drinking tequila. The tacos were amazing. We got to do our own toppings. The tequila was just a tasting but it was about 8 flavors. You then were offered the chance to buy a litre or 4 small bottles. There was no pressure to buy. Tadeo was very knowledgeable. I got a great picture of the history of the city along with art and culture. I can’t wait to visit again. At the end you have a gap of time to go shopping. The store owners were vocal but again not overly pushy. When I did go in to see the stores each person was very kind. They tried to get you to buy stuff but they also accepted no fine. I do a ton of tours like this. They usually partner with some small shops to bring customers. Too often the stores are pushy and it’s very difficult to say no (like the time I paid 100$ for a pashmina in India because I truly felt kidnapped lol) these people had beautiful trinkets and when I said I could only fit small things in my suitcase they respected that and showed me small wood items and magents. If you have global entry bring your card with you. Do not rely on the app (grumble grumble) if you can go during the week aim for that as crossing is much quicker.

Fantastic Guide, Poor Company

Our tour guide, Tadeo was awesome but the contracted company BORDER VENTURES LLC were unresponsive until they finally replied rudely.

Tijuana in a day

Bobby_M, Feb 2026
Great way to explore Tijuana for the day. Don't freak out if they tell you to cross the border and meet on the other side. It's really easy and they'll be waiting after the metal turnstile. If you have Global Entry DONT FORGET YOUR CARD. They will not let you in without it and the lines back to the US were sooo long. If you don't have Global Entry just be prepared to wait if it's a busy day. You'll explore, have some samples, eat lunch, and have a little time on your own during your day. Tedeo took care of us all, from some being late and having luggage to deal with, to others having to leave the group earlier. He also took us directly to the customs line and then walked me to global entry entrance. So there is no confusion getting back. Great tour!

We initially booked a trip to Rosarito but it ended up being canceled. We found this trip last minute. This was both mine and my sister's first time in Tijuana. Umberto was a great guide. He taught us the city's history and took us to several places. The quesadillas we ate were delicious!

Tadeo is Tijuana’s best kept secret!

Mia_D, Jan 2026
Wonderful day spent with my guide Tadeo. It was a worry free day from start to finish. I was very apprehensive about booking this tour with all the instability going on in the US but everything worked out seamlessly. Tadeo is an expert in knowing his history of Tijuana and Mexico. He was passionate about sharing his culture with us. He was thoughtful, patient and genuine in answering all of my questions about the area and its neighbouring communities. I loved visiting the long standing sweet shop, cheese shop and tequila store where we got to sample their delicacies. The gin and tonic at the secret gem microbrewery was the perfect stop to watch the sunset. This was a fantastic experience overall. My only regret was not booking another tour with him! I felt safe 100% of the time we were walking thru the city. The meet up spot in San Ysidro to meet Andres was easy to find. I’m glad I got a text from him confirming where to meet him. Walking back over the border was a piece of cake, no issues encountered. Tadeo explained the whole process of crossing so my nerves were settled. Don’t hesitate, and book this tour with Tadeo to learn about the marvels of Tijuana !

Great tour but beware the LONG line to return to the USA

Rebecca_B, Jan 2026
Humberto was a fantastic guide. Friendly, well informed, and super helpful. He took us to “locals only” places that we never would’ve found ourselves. Lunch was delicious, the tequila tasting was fun and the microbrewery offered some of the best views of the city. The only bad part was the 2.5 hour wait in line to cross the border. It put a damper on the experience but the tour itself was terrific.

Amazing tour!!

A Lively, Educational, and Unforgettable Day in Tijuana

Leandro_C, Jan 2026
Visiting Tijuana, Mexico was an engaging and memorable experience that felt both exciting and well organized overall. The only minor drawback was some initial confusion about the exact meeting point, but this was quickly resolved thanks to our exceptionally kind and knowledgeable tour guide, who provided the entire tour in English and clearly explained how to navigate both the Mexican and U.S. borders. We enjoyed a fantastic lunch of quesadillas made with homemade blue corn tortillas—some of the best we’ve ever had—along with plenty of walking, shopping in downtown areas, and unique stops like the historic hotel where the Caesar salad was invented. The tour also included lively alcohol tastings, affordable prices, widespread acceptance of U.S. currency, and even a few adventurous bites, including trying a scorpion. Transportation was a highlight as well, with a vibrant party bus ride into downtown, and throughout the experience we felt safe while gaining a deeper appreciation for both Tijuana’s culture and what we have in America.

Overall the experience was fun! Be prepared for a line at the border and public transportation ride to downtown. Our guide Tabitha was fabulous! She made the experience especially fun!

Nice & smooth

ALETHEA_B, Dec 2025
Our guide, Tab was nice, kind, considerate and understanding. We had a few limitations and she catered to them all. Nice and easy. I had done this tour prior, so was familiar and knew what to expect. If its your first time and you want a SAFE preview experience of Tijuana this is it

Tijuana tour

Rachelle_N, Dec 2025
Carlos was very informative. We enjoyed our tour a lot. We've experienced it from crossing the border ourselves to riding their public transportation (bus) to tequilla tasting and eating scorpions and good tacos. We've learned alot! What else could we ask for. Just FYI for those who aren't familiar with crossing the border, Carlos gave the instructions and we were good! Just make sure you arrive at least 30 mins before the tour, in case there's an issue with parking or customs. The best way to park your car is next to Jack in a Box. We paid the $8 for 8 hours.

10/10 1st Tijuana Experience

Danielle_G, Nov 2025
So glad we booked this tour. Couldn't have asked for a better experience! Andres met us and walked us through everything. It was a very easy process getting across the border. Once across, we met up with Tabitha. Tab was the best tour guide ever! She walked us around downtown Tijuana and gave us all the history. We got to taste tequila, eat yummy quesadillas, try Mexican candy, taste more tequila, shop for souvenirs, and just enjoy exploring the area. Tabitha was very welcoming and friendly, as well as knowledgeable. I highly recommend this tour if you've never been to Tijuana and you want to feel safe. We had no issues, everyone was super nice. It was easy getting back across the border. Also, we parked in the lot behind Jack in the Box. It was $8 per 8 hours. Appreciate Andres and Tabitha for our 1st Tijuana experience!! It was 10/10!

It is a relatively short overview of the history of Tiajuana and a comfortable walk through downtown. Our tour leader Tadeo was knowledgeable and friendly.

A great quick visit to Tijuana

babasimana, Nov 2025
Accidentally found info about this at TripAdvisor, and immediately went for it since I could not commit more time, but was very interested to see Tijuana while in San Diego. The tour was very informative and pleasant: this was also my very first time in Mexico, hence taking an organized tour was an adequate introduction for me. Tadeo our guide was a great host to our little group: very engaging and upbeat, giving us first-hand information about the city, its history, people and the country. He took us to all the main landmarks, and showed some hidden nooks such as the food markets, traditional candy shop, and a wonderful family run restaurant where we had our delicious lunch. The tour included also tequila tasting at one of the prominent liquor stores, and a final round of drinks at the Dandy Del Sur cantina. Finally, Tadeo secured us a van ride both from the border crossing and back to it after the tour. If you want a quick, safe, inexpensive and fun and informative visit to Tijuana, this is the tour to take.

Best tour for Tijuana

Tabita was my local guide and she knew a lot of Tijuana. We went Tijuana arch, Avienida Revolucion, El mercado popo and enjoyed Tequilla tasting. It was super great tour and I will recommend this tour to my friends who are going to visit Tijuana

Great trip to get some insights into Tijuana

Maria_W, Oct 2025
Overall the trip was very good and the guide Tabitha was friendly, informative and made the day fun. The start was not great as we were not met at the US side of the border but received a text to say we had to make our own way across. This would have been ok if we had been forewarned.

Great day in TJ

Great experience! Tadeo was knowledgeable, personable and kind. We felt safe and enjoyed learning about the history of Tijuana. Highly recommend!

A great value for your money

Alyson_M, Aug 2025
The tour involves quite a bit of walking so I’m glad I wore my sneakers. Also it was very sunny, so bring sun block and sunglasses. Initially there was confusion about the meeting place. The line to get into the U.S. was very long so I had to meet my guide on the Mexican side. It’s very easy to cross on your own. Tadeo was a great tour guide. I learned a lot. The food was really delicious and tasted very fresh. The tequila sipping was also fun. The aged tequila was so smooth. My only issue was the shopping options - very overpriced. I wish I could have done my shopping in the market instead. Coming back to the U.S., the line was also long - about an hour wait, BUT I had global entry so I got through in 10 minutes or less. Despite what Apple Maps directed, the blue line to 12th and Imperial and then walking about 15 minutes to my downtown hotel was much quicker than the blue line to a different stop followed by a bus ride. Overall, for what I paid, I got my money’s worth. It’s was just the right amount of time if you have to make a night flight.

Shopping tour to Juarez from San Diego

rose_r, Jul 2025
We walked about 3.5 hours in the market area around revolucion street. Lots of stalls selling souvenirs, candy, spices, vanilla. My small group chose not to do tequila tasting but it was offered. Lunch was very good with choice between quesadillas or huaraches, watermelon juice and salsas. It was perfect. Carlos was patient and went back and forth between English and Spanish perfectly.

Intro to Tijuana!

Ruth_C, Jul 2025
It was good all round. We were met by a guide on the US side of the boarder, who accompanied us through boarder control and introduced us to our Tijuana guide, who stayed with us throughout the tour. There were some lovely friendly people in the group, which made the tour extra special. I would like to have stayed longer, but didn't feel confident enough to navigate my way back to the US alone, so I returned with everyone else. Viator tours are reliable and provide an all round good experience. I'll definitely travel with them again.

A must-do trip!

Paul_O, Jul 2025
What a great day! Our tour guide Mary was incredibly friendly and informative. We received interesting facts about Tijuana and visited many points of interest. The highlight for me was the Tequila tasting! The food was also delicious. There was also some free time to get some souvenirs or go for extra refreshments. The queue time to get back into the USA was about 30 minutes and was very easy. A must do trip!

Amazing

Jada_E, Jul 2025
This was an amazing tour. Perfect amount of site seeing, a great way to immerse yourself into Mexico in a convenient way. The place is rich with culture and has kind people. The host Emmanuel was spectacular. Very knowledgable, informative, friendly, and helpful. We got to stop at a couple of souvenir and liquor stores. There was tequila tasting, we had lunch, got water all inclusive. This was the perfect amount of time and very well organised and timely. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience, truly. Would do it again! Make sure to wear sneakers/comfortable footing and bring CASH.
