A great way to see Christ the Redeemer, the guide was amazing - took good photographs, enthusiatic and even bought coffee and a light breakfast to eat whilst we were waiting.

This was a nice small tour (only 3 of us total) our guide was amazing start to finish. He took us to all the best picture spots and even some secret spots with no crowds so we could enjoy sunrise.
He took all of our photos from all the different angles, we didn't even have to ask he got every single shot for us which we are grateful for.
Honestly the best experience ever.

This was one of the best experiences that I've had on a tour. The communication was smooth, the pick up time was precise, the experience was incredible. We felt incredibly cared for during our time on the tour. Nothing felt rushed at all.
I would recommend this tour to everyone as I believe it's the only way to go.

Perfect from start to finish. Very professional, very organised, very knowledgeable. The guides were very helpful, knew the best locations and had a good relationship with the providers making this an easy tour. The early rise is worth it. Obrigado!

Jasmin did an incredible job capturing my Rio de Janeiro experience. The sunrise behind Sugarloaf Mountain and my shots at Cristo Redentor are absolutely breathtaking. She’s a talented photographer who isn’t afraid to get creative—even lying on the ground—to get the best possible angle. Worth getting up for before sunrise!

I highly recommend this tour without hesitation! Our driver, Marcos, picked us up directly from our hotel in the morning, which we really appreciated since it was located outside the city. Even though Marcos didn’t speak English and we didn’t speak Portuguese, we managed to understand each other just fine. He was very kind and thoughtful — on the way back, he even bought us some local treats because the return trip took longer due to roadwork.
We were a small group of five, which we truly enjoyed. Our guide, Ederson, was friendly, welcoming, and very attentive. He gave clear explanations about each attraction and made sure everyone felt comfortable. The tour description mentioned a “light breakfast,” but we actually had plenty to eat: coffee, bread, and a bag prepared for each of us with several typical Brazilian foods.
There were quite a lot of people at Mirante Dona Marta, even early in the morning. At first, it was hard to take pictures ourselves because of the crowd. However, thanks to our guide Ederson, we left with many beautiful photos. He kindly offered to take them for us and knew exactly how and where to get the best shots — the same at Christ Rédempteur. We arrived very early (right at opening time) so we were among the first visitors to enter, despite the huge number of people there.

Wow! What a wonderful birthday experience - a beautiful sunrise at one of Rio's best viewpoints - Dona Marta. We were a small ladies group - myself, a solo traveller from the UK, and 2 lovely Spanish ladies. Our guide Ederson was a superb host - he picked us up early at our respective hotels, made us feel very safe while driving trhough Rio at such an early hour of the day and was very friendly and knowledgeable in both English and Spanish. We got to the lookout in good time and Ederson was our personal photographer - he knows the best spots and angles to get those beautiful Instagram pictures! He'd also prepared a light breakfast basket for us so we could have a coffee and a snack before heading onwards to Christ Redeemer. We were among the first to arrive at the statue, and could enjoy the views, take pictures before the crowds. Fun fact: the first group through the gate is greeted by a priest, a short prayer and given a blessing (after which the priest packs up and goes about his daily business elsewhere). All in all an unforgettably wonderful experience. Please remember that your guide is not a weather controller, be kind, check the weather report and hope for the best - we got a beautiful sunrise for about 20mins, then clouds rolled in, then we had a bit of blue skies at Christ Redeemer, and after that it got windy and cloudy again.

A great experience - the sunrise was amazing, and getting to Christ the Redeemer early meant a slightly smaller crowd. Myllena was a great guide

Had a great time during this tour! Myllena was a great guide! Since my tour group was small, we were all able to connect on a personal level and it literally felt like I was on a day trip with friends. My pick up time was around 5:15am. We didn’t get to see the complete sunrise due to the clouds and fog, but nonetheless the view at Dona Marta was amazing. We got to see and take pictures with Cristo Redentor just in time as well. I was dropped off at my hotel at 9am which gave me plenty of time to venture out at other places around Rio. Highly recommend this tour!

Our guide for this tour was Ederson. He was knowledgeable, courteous and firstly took us to Dona Marta for the Sunrise. The day of our tour was fairly overcast but it was still an amazing location to watch the sun come up and the views were incredible. Afterwards Ederson continued to Christ the Redeemer and ensured we were amongst the first group of people to enter. We witnessed the priest completing his early morning mass as we arrived. The location and view is amazing and the Statue itself is humbling. This was certainly an experience we will remember. Dona Marta is in a location that can only be reached with a private guide and well worth the early start plus good value for money when combined with The Christ and we were back at our hotel by 9.00 am! Thank you Ederson.

This was amazing! Our entire group of 18 were very impressed. The logistics were easy. They picked us up at our hotel and drove us to sunrise. They offered to take tons of photos for us and helped with the lighting. They were great and keeping 18 people organized. They had a nice breakfast made for us and then got us to the front of the line for the statue. Our guide’s English was great and he provided facts, history and context to what we were seeing. Can’t recommend this enough! Thank you for creating a truly amazing experience for our group.

Despite the first positive impression of on time communication and interest from the operator for the pick up time etc the outcome, in a whole, did not meet the expectations. The mood was simply destroyed as long as no one from the groups had the courage to tell all those totally unprofessional, so called guides, of some of the groups, up in the hill where we were supposed to go to enjoy the sunrise, to turn off all those huge lights using to make irritating fotos of their group mempers and spoiling the ideal scenery and therefore it is definately not worth wasting your precious sleep. When it came to the programme there were times that we were simply waiting without purpose and as far as i am concerned the group guide is like a conductor of an orchestra. He must hold control whether that is timeline or interest of the group. The fact that an approximately 3 hour, according to the description and that is why it was chosen, ended up lasting 5 hours and for someone haning a time schedule due to an upocoming flight made it even more disappointing. I hope bu mentioning all this it will help the operator focus on improving because iti is supposed to be a tour that makes you joyfull especially when it come to the sunrise above Rio which was magnificent.

Clarifying Some Points About This Tour and the Client’s Expectations
First of all, My name´s Ederson and I would like to clarify that I was not personally guiding this tour. The guide responsible was carefully selected based on his experience and excellence, as he is also the owner of a similar tour with excellent reviews right here in the Viator community.
The client mentioned:
"No one in the group had the courage to tell those so-called guides, totally unprofessional, from some of the groups at the top of the hill, where we were supposed to enjoy the sunrise, to turn off those huge lights they were using to take irritating pictures of their group members, spoiling the ideal scenery."
Regarding This Issue:
The client is referring to other tour agencies and groups of local tourists who use the spot for photography. Mirante Dona Marta has become extremely popular not only for its breathtaking sunrise but also for the impact of these images on social media.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to control the behavior of other agencies and guides, who prioritize capturing the moment for their clients. While I understand that this may be inconvenient for some visitors seeking a more contemplative experience, it is important to remember that this is a public space open to everyone.
It seems that the client believes we have the power to demand that all other agencies turn off their lights so that he alone can enjoy the sunrise without interference. Unfortunately, this is simply not something we can guarantee.
The client also mentioned:
"Regarding the program, there were moments when we were simply waiting without purpose, and in my opinion, the group guide is like a conductor of an orchestra. He must maintain control, whether of the schedule or the interest of the group. The fact that a tour described as lasting approximately 3 hours..."
Regarding This Issue:
The waiting time mentioned refers to the time before the Christ the Redeemer opens, which happens at 7:20 AM. Unfortunately, there is no way to access the monument before this time, as there are no early entry options for any agency or operator.
We are talking about the most iconic symbol of Brazil and the country’s most visited attraction, and queues are part of the experience for every visitor, regardless of which tour company organizes the visit.
We understand that the client had a scheduled flight and, therefore, pressured the team to find a solution. However, there is no way to open Christ the Redeemer earlier nor to avoid the queue for entry, as these are factors completely beyond our control.
To minimize this waiting time, we offer a breakfast break to make the pause more pleasant. However, we understand that, for this particular client, this alternative was not sufficient to meet his expectations.
Choosing the Right Tour Matters
If the client had high expectations and a flight scheduled too close to the tour time, perhaps booking this tour was not the best choice. Still, if there were any doubts about the itinerary, duration, or logistics of the tour, our team was available to clarify everything before booking, avoiding any unnecessary frustration.
This review stands out negatively among more than 20 excellent experiences shared by other travelers who have taken this same tour. We recognize that mistakes can happen, but many people do not understand the daily challenges we face to provide the best possible experience.
It is also important to emphasize that the problems cited were beyond our control. Factors such as the presence of other agencies, the use of lights for photos, the queues at Christ the Redeemer, and the client's tight flight schedule are external elements that do not reflect the quality of our service.
Our commitment is to always offer the best possible experience to our clients, within the reality of a tour that involves highly popular tourist locations.
For Future Clients Considering This Tour
To make it clear for anyone reading this and thinking about booking this tour, we want to be transparent about what you can expect – as well as the challenges that come with the experience.
This location is absolutely stunning, offering breathtaking views, and on a good weather day, it provides an unforgettable experience. Waking up early for this tour guarantees a one-of-a-kind moment that will stay in your memory forever. However, as it is a highly sought-after tourist attraction, there are some things to keep in mind before booking:
1. There Will Be Other People Taking Photos
Especially Latin tourists (Brazilians, Argentinians, Chileans, etc.), who have a strong photo culture.
This is not a problem, it is a cultural aspect. If you come from a region where this practice is uncommon and prefer a more private environment, this tour may not be the best fit for you.
2. This Is a Public Place, and There Will Be Other Tour Agencies
Like any famous tourist attraction, we do not have control over the behavior of other agencies and visitors.
A realistic comparison: Imagine visiting the Acropolis of Athens, one of Greece’s most famous landmarks, and expecting no one to take photos or use lights near you. This is simply not realistic.
If you do not enjoy crowded places where people take photos and interact, consider whether this experience is right for you.
3. Christ the Redeemer Only Opens at 7:20 AM
There is no way to enter before this time, as all agencies are subject to the same opening hours.
There is no "skip-the-line" option. As one of Brazil’s most visited landmarks, there will be queues.
If you have a flight close to the tour’s schedule or dislike waiting in lines, we strongly advise that you DO NOT book this attraction.
Final Considerations
Our goal is to offer the best experience possible within the reality of this tour. If you are looking for a breathtaking sunrise, are comfortable with the presence of other people, and understand that waiting in line is part of the Christ the Redeemer experience, then this will be an unforgettable moment for you.

An extremely courteous and friendly guide. His language skills in English are also exemplary - which you don't usually find so often in Rio... From the pick-up to breakfast to the summit everything was great. He even takes over photography in prepared places - you don't have to worry about anything.
