This was the worst viator tour we have ever been on and we have been on a lot! Our tour was not a 4 or 5 hour as advertised. It was over 8. Our driver called less than two hours before our scheduled pick up and let us know we needed to be at an entirely different pick up spot in an hour. We paid to be picked up from our hotel; instead, we had to walk to get to a pick up spot that was more convenient to him. On our drive, he spent the whole time on his phone and not paying attention. I literally watched him look at social media instead of the busy roads and traffic. the workers at the camel ride were very nice - but once we finished-our driver told us he would not be taking us back to town and someone else would. he then dropped us off at the dinner place where we sat and waited for three hours with nothing to do in the blazing heat. the dinner was in a big banquet room buffet style. So many people flew to the front of the line and emptied all the food containers. by far the time we got to the food, everything was empty. It was bizarre. Then we had to wait a really long time for the fire show. Seemed like they had zero organization. the show was great. best 10 minutes of the whole tour. After it was over, our new driver proceeded to take home an entire bus of people back to their hotels leaving us last and dropping us back at the same spot far from our riad. The trip back took over two hours. You could not pay me to enough to do anything with this tour company or tour again.

Dear Emily Our Response We would like to clarify a few points mentioned in this review, as some of the information is not accurate. 1. Communication and pickup information You mentioned that we only contacted you two hours before the pickup. This is incorrect. We have screenshots showing that we contacted you several times, starting one month before your tour, with important information and messages regarding your booking. The messages were seen but unfortunately not answered. 2. Pickup and extra payment You mentioned that you paid an additional amount for the pickup. We did not receive any extra payment from you for this. In any case, the pickup point would have remained the same because your riad, Riad Khireddine, is located inside the Medina, where cars cannot access the riad directly. As explained in the pickup instructions, you needed to walk approximately 500 metres to the nearby accessible meeting point. This is a normal requirement for riads located inside the Medina. You were able to walk around the Medina during your stay, so we find it unfair to present the necessary short walk to the meeting point as an additional service problem. 3. Waiting time and shared service Regarding the waiting time, this is a normal part of a shared experience. You chose the shared option, which means you travel with other guests and may need to wait for them to finish their activities before the group continues to the camp. If you wanted to choose your own schedule and avoid waiting for other guests, the private option would have been the appropriate choice. This flexibility is one of the reasons why private experiences are more expensive. 4. Dinner The dinner included in your booking was a buffet, not an à la carte or private dinner. Our staff welcomed you and explained how the buffet works. As with a buffet, guests serve themselves and choose the dishes they would like to eat. This is the standard format of the experience you booked. 5. Camels and show You stated that the camel ride and show were good. Therefore, we find it difficult to understand how the overall experience could justify a 1-star rating, especially when the main activities you participated in were satisfactory.

Beautiful Agafay Desert Sunset

Our family had an unforgettable experience on our private excursion to the Agafay Desert. Our driver, Yousef, was professional, friendly, and made us feel comfortable throughout the trip. We began with a scenic drive out to the desert, followed by a peaceful camel ride at sunset. Afterward, we drove a short distance to the Kal Tenere camp, where the views of the setting sun were absolutely breathtaking. The evening continued with a delicious buffet dinner, offering a great variety of food for everyone to enjoy. The night ended with an exciting fire show that was both entertaining and memorable. Overall, this was a fantastic experience for our whole family. We highly recommend this excursion to anyone looking for a special and well-rounded desert adventure.
