Learn how to make two of Italy's most popular and delicious foods during this Florence cooking class.
As you get started with your chef, learn about the history of pizza-making in Italy, and the distinct characteristics between pies from each Italian region. Sample an array of pizza flavors as you go and then throw your own creation in the oven to bake.
Continue with a lesson in dessert, as you receive instruction on crafting traditional Italian gelato. While this sweet treat does share similarities to ice cream found in other countries, it typically has a lower amount of butterfat and a unique freezing process that accounts for its dense, flavorful consistency. As your instructor shows you the secrets of the trade, enjoy plenty of samples to satisfy your sweet tooth.
After your class concludes, take home your insider’s tips from your chef to impress your friends in the kitchen.

This was one of the highlights of our trip. The chef, Lisa, was encouraging and patient. Class age ranged from 5- 80 and we all learned something new. Everyone succeeded in making a wonderful 10" (or larger pizza.) then we enjoyed eating it. She also included two of the children in the gelato making demo. They were thrilled and the chocolate geato was amazing. They sent us home with recipes too. I can't say enough good things about our experience. Can't wait to try my hand at making my own pizza

I had a fun, relaxing, and informative pizza and gelato making class today. Victoria was our chef/instructor and did a wonderful job of instructing mixed with some history and practical applications for when we try these recipes back home.
Highly recommended!

This was a great experience for our family. My 11 year old son enjoyed it. You make your own pizza but make the gelato as a group. The pizza was so good. They do not give you any wine until the pizza is done, which was a let down.
MARIE_K, Apr 2026
It was a wonderful experience. Victoria really explained the history of pizza and gelato, which was very enjoyable.

We had the absolute best time at this pizza-making and gelato class in Florence! There were eight of us—ranging in age from 12 to 88—and it was truly a highlight of our trip for everyone.
The class was incredibly well-paced, and everything was provided for us, which made it easy to just relax and enjoy the experience. We got hands-on making our own pizzas (which turned out delicious!), and also learned how gelato is made—ending with a tasting that was just as amazing as you’d hope.
A special shoutout to John, our pizza maker—he was fantastic. So engaging, fun, and great with our whole group.
What really stood out was how accommodating they were to my father, who has mobility issues. They made sure he was comfortable and able to fully participate, which meant so much to our family.
It’s not always easy to find an activity that genuinely works for a multi-generational group, but this was perfect. Everyone—from the kids to the grandparents—had such a great time.
Highly, highly recommend—such a memorable and delicious experience!

Frederico, our chef instructor, was very knowledgeable and engaging in teaching our class how to make our own authentic Italian pizzas from scratch. We were very impressed with our own pizza masterpieces, and the dark chocolate gelato we made was also quite delicious! Our kids (ages 9,12) also had so much fun and stayed engaged the whole class.

Lisa was amazing! We had a wonderful time at this class. It was informative, well organized ans fun! The family we shared a table with was very nice. They had kids & the class was very family/kid friendly! One of the best cooking classes we've taken. Would definitely recommend, especially if its your first time in florence.

Victoria was amazing, we had the best time, learned a lot and loved the finished product. Will definitely take another class on our next trip to Italy!
Benjamin_K, Mar 2026
The class was very informative and great, we learned a lot about making pizza dough properly and how to make gelato. Jon is an excellent chef and teacher. He had a laughing making the class enjoyable and entertaining while making sure everyone learned the art.
Kelli_A, Mar 2026
The instructors were very nice but the class itself was not what was we were expecting. The gelato making was a demo with select people from the class so not something we actually did ourself. The pizza part was ok but for the pizza to be really tasty it has to proof longer. We are glad to have the recipes and the experience but not sure if there is a more authentic way to do it. They also served only very cheap tasting red wine.
Andrea_Z, Mar 2026
We had a wonderful time learning how to make the pizza and gelato. Our chefs were great at teaching the techniques and easy to understand. Our final product, our own personal pizzas were fantastic. I definitely recommend attending their class.
Amy_Z, Mar 2026
My child loved it and we made some great memories. We booked the 6:30pm one so we didn’t eat until 8:30, it was a very long experience for us, I would recommend doing the early one if you have littles with you who usually eat around 6. The pizza wasn’t the best I’ve ever had (I mean I made it so it could totally be my fault), but the experience was great.
Deji_O, Mar 2026
It is worth the spend if you enjoy valuable time with family. The coached were engaging interesting and attentive. You will also get a recipe copy after the cooking classes
Nancy_H, Mar 2026

Bryan_R, Feb 2026
Absolutely delicious! Well organized cooking class making pizza and gelato from scratch. Red wine and lots of good information on the history of pizza and how to select a place to get real authentic gelato. Andre and his crew were awesome. Must do this in Florence.

I booked the day of, I was coming from Rome my train got delayed and wasn’t able to attend I wanted to reschedule for the next day I didn’t want my money back and they said I had to pay the whole amount again wasn’t even offered a discount so basically lost 200 usd dollars so make sure you don’t miss the class even in emergency situations because they won’t help you!!!!!
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Dear Guest,
We are truly sorry to read about your experience and we completely understand how frustrating travel delays can be, especially when they affect plans you were looking forward to. Unfortunately, train delays are circumstances beyond our control, and as per our booking policy, same-day changes are not always possible.
Please be assured that we always do our very best to accommodate emergency situations whenever operationally feasible. We genuinely regret that, on this occasion, we were unable to offer an alternative solution that met your expectations.
Kindest regards,
Towns of Italy Customer Care

Had fun making pizza and gelato. Very knowledgeable chef. The food was delicious. Had a great time!!
Monica_C, Feb 2026
Our instructor was super helpful and knowledgeable about all things gelato and pizza related. He took time to explain the different types of flour used for the pizza, what types of ingredients that go into different gelatos and so on. He also focused a lot of showing us how to get a feel for how recipes might slightly change based on where we are in the world or what ingredients we use so that we can succeed when attempting to make them again at home. He was also super great with kids making sure the one child that was in our class was included and helping her out occasionally so her parents could focus on the pizza they were making. Beyond that he also helped the adults by checking in periodically to make sure things were going ok. There was also a second worker who kept things extremely tidy in between each step. Would absolutely recommend for anyone who just wants to make their own pizza for just the single experience- or if someone wants to learn where to start off so they can make their own back home.

This was a great way to meet people. Both of the chefs kept class entertaining. The Polaroid picture was a nice touch to the class
