Excellent orientation and historical tour of Bucharest. Scheduling soon after arrival is ideal. Takes place on the Pest side of the river. Covers major landmarks and 1000 years of high level history with fascinating anecdotes. Atilla was engaging and very knowledgeable about the history of Hungary and beyond. Gorgeous city. Not to be missed. Plan to tip 5-10 Euro (or equivalent in local currency) pp.

Absolutely loved it

Pandora_C, May 2026
She was excellent. No doubt about it. She knew and loved her job and history of the castle. She answered our many questions, gave summaries and encouraged the tourists to take time and really explore.

Excellent tour.

GEOFFREY_R, May 2026

Excellent tour

I cannot imagine seeing or learning more in a 2.5-hour period than we did with Victoria! My grandfather was born in Hungary, so I was very glad to learn more about his homeland. My mom and son were also on the tour, which means there were 3 generations of (partial) Hungarians on the tour. What an honor it was to see Budapest and learn more about the history of this country with such an incredibly knowledgeable guide. Thank you, Victoria!

Budipest interesting walking Tour.

Bernadette_F, May 2026
This walking tour was great we learned so much from our tour guide Victoria. It was interesting to learn about the lives of the people and what it was like to live in Budapest as well as seeing and learning about famous sites. Great tour and walking experience Victoria knew and taught us so much. Thanks Victoria, Bernadette 😊

Pest uncovered honestly

Alfredo_A, May 2026
Victoria was Passionate, heartfelt, honest and objective; She provided exquisite details about the sites and history in a humane and scholarly way; interjected a good sense of humor. Very open to questions and would research on the spot for any question that she did not know offhand . She went out of her way to gather pebbles from the river bank for the Jewish travelers (including us) to show remembrance or respect for those deceased (shoes on the Danube)

Fantastic Historical Tour

Julie_S, May 2026
It was a wonderful experience discovering the history of Budapest. Victoria’s English was impeccable and easily understandable. She was knowledgeable about the area and history of the buildings and culture. She always made sure we were comfortable and answered all of our questions.

Perfect Intro to Budapest

Sandra_S, May 2026
This is the perfect 1st day in Budapest tour. You get an excellent history of the country and a nice walk where you can walk by a number of famous sights. Although you don’t go inside any locations, you see enough that you can go back later for more in depth visit. Our guide was knowledgeable and kept a steady paced walk with lots of information. Make sure you have good walking shoes (we did almost 10,000 steps) and bring a water (although we did stop for a couple of breaks if anyone wanted something. A very inexpensive way to see a few of the historical locations of this beautiful city.

Highly Recommend

David_M, May 2026
Highly recommend this walking tour, especially at the beginning of your trip, our guide(Victoria) was excellent, so informative so passionate a sense of humour and also interacting with the group ensuring all your questions were answered, it is a good two hours plus so bear this in mind, however toilet stops and stops to allow you to buy a drink etc were available.

Long walking tour

Jane_T, May 2026
The guide didn’t read the audience. He walked too, fast told minimum detail and didn’t take breaks. He needed a microphone as it was so noisy with traffic and such when he moved and turned his head the group missed much of the detail!

Response from Host, May 2026

The tour is only 2.5 hours. As written, the only break we take is to use the toilets If you had informed the guide at the start that your a lip reader and deaf, the guide would of made the effort to face you at all times. However, you didn't tell him this. He can't guess the needs of every guest. If you can't hear the guide tell them. The guides say this at the start. It is illegal to use audio equipment in many districts of Budapest..it upsets locals and adds to the noise. This why we don't use loudspeakers. Also we keep our groups small, making it easier to hear the guide.

Excellent tour

We took this tour on...

Ryan_W, Apr 2026
We took this tour on April 23 and Victoria was our guide. She arrived slightly past the start time so we started late. She was very knowledgeable about the subject matter but many times just appeared to be going through the motions in her delivery and not overly excited about the tour (like she had more important things to do). She informed everyone that if anyone intended to depart the tour early to let her know. At one point, 2 people did leave the tour and apparently didn't inform her. When this occurred she chastised the remainder of the group for the 2 people departing like it was our fault. Another issue that needs addressed is that it would be very helpful to provide the group members with an audio device so that we could hear better. Throughout the tour, there was much background noise from traffic, trams, chainsaws, sirens etc that made hearing difficult especially at the back of the group. With some small improvements this would be a fantastic tour.

Response from Host, May 2026

It is not the guide's fault that she started 7mins later, if guests arrive late. We ask all guests to arrive on time. So we dont understand why the guide must say sorry, it iis the people who are late who should of said sorry. The guide may make it clear to everyone at the start to inform them if they leave or if they can't hear the guide, if the guests dont do this, it makes it very difficult for the guide. The guides work for tips. Maybe this is why the guests don't respect the guides. If you can't hear the guide, why not tell her at the time so she can make an adjustment? It is illegal to use loudspeakers in many districts in Budapest, because it adds to the noise of the city and upset local residents. In Hungary, we treat people how they treat us. You arrive late, dont listen to the guide's rules, don't obey them, you show you don't value the guide, the guide will see this and become discouraged. The guide had spent 1.5 hours with your group, when some of you walked off without even saying goodbye, the guide was left thinking she had lost the guests by accident and started to look for them. , but this wasn't the problem. The problem was that your group thought the guide was worthless and not worth the respect to at least say we are leaving early, goodbye.

Hungary then and now

Allen_I, Apr 2026
Bring picture I.d. (such as a passport). Victoria waited and then called each of the late participants to make sure they were still coming. This led to delays, frustrations but showed a caring side that I came to respect. She was forthright, knowledgeable and quite funny. Her opinions opinions were genuine and nuanced; I learned a lot

The worst tour guide
