What are people saying about Vik

Get on the water and go see this glacier!
We met our guide Jose and got fitted with a great dry suit, booties and neoprene gloves. A short hike to lagoon and you could see icebergs in the water and the glacier in the distance. Unfortunately, weather cut our trip short, as we had hail and some lightning come into the area. Kayaking skills would help but not necessary as this is a leisurely paddle meant to enjoy the scenery. The guide will explain and demonstrate everything you need to know to have a great trip. I would highly recommend this tour as I don’t know of many like it where the put-in is as close to a glacier as this one is.

A Definite Must Stop!
My husband and I went on this tour & in our opinion, it's a definite must! We saw the flags on our way to Vik & knew that we wanted to stop by & check it out on our way back to Reykjavik. Unfortunately, I do not remember the tour guide 's name, but she was the great grand daughter of the man who purchased the land. The history of these specific man made caves was incredibly engaging especially since this was our guide 's heritage, so it was very personal. It was so fascinating to learn more about Iceland & honestly step into history. One of the caves is thought to be an original church, it was incredible! We wondered why an Iceland historical society isn't trying to preserve and study these caves more, especially with the ancient writing apparent on the walls. It's definitely worth a stop. We saw on our trip a lava cave, an ice cave, and now man made caves. All worth it!

Truly exhilarating experience!
We had a great time on the hike and thoroughly enjoyed the experience from start to finish. Our guide was very knowledgeable and showed genuine concern for our safety and well-being throughout the hike. She was passionate about teaching us about the glacier and its history. We highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Iceland who is looking for a unique and breathtaking way to experience one of Iceland’s wonders.

A Must Do Tour!
The answer is yes, yes the Ice Cave by Katla Volcano is definitely worth visiting! We would say that the entire experience from the jeep ride to walking up to the glacier and taking in the stunning scenery makes the excursion worth it. Plus our guide, Hawk, was fantastic. He was funny and extremely knowledgeable. We enjoyed learning more about the glacier & the whole volcanic area. We also never felt rushed and he took great pics, too. In addition, we really enjoyed his music selection for the roundtrip drive! This is a tour that is a definite must if you are in Vik! It's also nice to leave the driving in capable hands!

Vik may not have an exciting name—it just translates to “bay” in Icelandic—but this town on the southern tip of Iceland is anything but boring. Sign a waiver, and within minutes, Vik tours will have you riding in a buggy along the black sand beach of Reynisfjara, exploring an ice cave under Katla Volcano, or snowmobiling above it on Mýrdalsjökull, the country’s fourth-largest glacier. Ziplining, paragliding, and kayaking (in a glacial lagoon) are all options if you go with a guide.
