This was a ton of fun! It's at a government-sponsored artisan school and cooperative aimed at preserving traditional arts in Morocco. No pressure to buy things, but there is an artisan shop on site with fixed prices. We showed up and were welcomed by several master weavers who demonstrated how to make our own small souvenir rugs (size of a narrow mousepad). They kept us on track and motivated with tea, and both kids and adults were totally absorbed and proud of what they ended up with. It gives you an appreciation for the artistry -- and hard work -- involved in making rugs.

We booked the class last mi ute for so.ething to pass a few hours and really enjoyed it. Hajar gave clear instructions and helped us when needed. Hajar was lovely friendly and a good teacher, we came away with our own little piece of artwork that we made. Thank you Hajar

We had an absolutely amazing time! All the instructors were very pleasant and made the process of weaving very enjoyable while giving local perspective! Our girls, 7 and 10 loved the experience! We did the hour long class and walked away with a miniature Moroccan rug!

This was an amazing experience to learn about Berber symbols while doing a fun and relaxing craft. I like knitting and weaving at home but some of my family hadn't done it before and still enjoyed it. We were provided with water and the women there were really friendly and good teachers. Would definitely recommend if you like textiles and art.

If you're at all interested in crafts and you come to Marrakech, you MUST take this class! Everything was perfect, from the materials to all the necessary equipment to, especially, the teacher. This workshop was hands down one of the highlights of my time in Marrakesh! The space had such a warm and welcoming vibe, and the people who guided us were incredibly friendly, kind, and open-hearted.
It wasn’t just about learning how to make rugs (which was super fun, by the way) — it was the conversations, the laughter, and the genuine connection that made it so memorable. We talked about life, culture, and everything in between. It felt like we were creating something beautiful together, not just with our hands, but with our hearts too.

We had an absolutely delightful experience taking a rug-making class while in Marrakech! The class is held at a government-sponsored traditional art training center, which made it feel authentic and meaningful. The women who led the class were incredibly warm, welcoming, and lovely. It felt less like a formal class and more like sitting with friends, sharing stories, and learning together.
They patiently demonstrated the traditional techniques and were so excited to share their craft and experiences with us. It was fascinating to see their passion for this art form and to get hands-on experience creating something unique.
This class is a perfect blend of fun, creativity, and cultural connection. If you’re in Marrakech and looking for something interactive and meaningful, I highly recommend it! It’s a beautiful way to support traditional crafts and connect with the local community beyond the standard cooking class. This is very hands on.

Don’t leave without giving this a go. We absolutely loved learning how to weave a knot carpet from these lovely ladies. This is such a great organisation teaching women both local and tourists the traditional art of carpet weaving. We got to see an expert at work while we got individual help to create our own little carpet which is such a lovely take home from our Moroccan holiday. It honestly felt like learning with friends. I booked this for my sister’s birthday - we were a group of five. We had an incredible time! I really recommend as an activity in Marrakech if you’re looking for something crafty and different to do.
Alba and Hajar were so patient with us, taking us through the weaving steps and techniques and were always on hand to help. We were even shown true Moroccan hospitality with water, tea and snacks, which added to an already pleasant experience. Alba even helped us with our taxi afterwards, when we struggled to find our driver - truly going above and beyond!
You do need time for the activity though! I think the allocated time slot is 3 hours, but we were there for 4.5 hours and could have quite easily spent more time finishing our pieces. If you book, try to clear out your day!
