Fatimah was great! Very knowledgeable and accommodating. We docked the port from OOS. She picked us up from cruise terminal with our name written on the board. We have been Ephesus and house mother Mary and we beat the crowds and lines. We had excellent local farm to table restaurant with our group. We had such an amazing time at weaving coop and leather outlay. These were so real and not touristic. We feel it! Do not miss this tour. We re back to ship on time .

We had a fantastic time and Fatima was a great tour guide, very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Communication from the tour company could not be better, clear instructions given for us. Our name and the company logo was on a board outside the port and Fatima was waiting. We beat the queues by starting early. Highly recommended

We were a group of 8 (4 adults, 4 kids) on the private Ephesus tour. While the pre-tour communications and tour transportation were excellent, our tour guide (Gülşah, or English name of "Rose") was definitely lacking in both enthusiasm and engagement. We should have known this was going to be the case once she told us that she was trying hard to stay awake only minutes after meeting her at 9:30am.
Once we arrived at the Ephesus historical site, she asked that we leave the car to use the washroom first before entering. We all assumed this meant we could go back to the car to get our belongings before we entered the site, but the car left while we were all in the washroom, with our backpacks, hats, water bottles inside. When we told Gülşah we needed our things, she said it was too late as the car had already left and could not come back up to meet us until after we finished the site. At no point did she communicate that we needed to have our things with us before we used the washrooms yet she insisted she had! Luckily a few of us had our wallets with us so we could purchase the entrance tickets and extra water bottles, but again, definitely not a great experience.
The guide's explanations of the key things to look at in the site were also incredibly vague and uninformative. At times, I ended up listening to other tour guides nearby to get more information. Gülşah also was not particularly kind to our kids (ages 9-12), as more than once, she told them to pay attention to her but then did nothing to actually engage their interest.
We spoke with another family on our cruise later who had also booked a private Ephesus tour on Viator, and it turns out their tour guide was excellent. Not only was he informative and welcoming, but he even took them to local markets for lunch/snacks and a more "non-touristy" experience (vs ours, which also included LONG stops at a carpet and leather shops, where we were subjected to numerous sales pitches to buy $5000 rugs or $1000 leather jackets).
Overall, the quality of the tour is really subject to the quality of your guide and sadly, we did not have a good experience with ours. Hopefully this feedback will be provided to the tour operator for future improvement and more consistent behaviors from their guides.

This was an amazing and seamless tour from start to finish. Prior to our excursion, we were sent instructions on meeting our guide upon leaving out cruise ship. On April 29, 2026, Canan, our amazing guide, provided the four of us with the most informative and enjoyable tour as described in the tour description, with (pardon the pun) no stone left unturned. Her high academic preparation was quite evident in her knowledge and enthusiasm in the subject matter while maintaining the most pleasant and informal experience for us. She purposely timed our visits to ensure low crowds and she succeeded! The beautiful weather was an added bonus. The views were incredible and while I would have preferred to not have made the side trips to the carpet making and the leather shop ( even though I did make a purchase at one), I did enjoy our lunch (not included....Canan gave us a choice on if we wanted to eat there with full disclosure that this was not included and not mandatory....price was good however and food was delicious!). Ephesus was enchanting (my highlight was toilets...LOL!) and the House of The Virgin Mary was reflective. All in all, this tour made me want to return to this area on a separate vacation.

Had a fun time touring Ephesus, which is an amazing place. Fatima was an excellent guide, knowledgeable and entertaining. We went to a rug making shop which was much more interesting than I thought it would be and also went to a leather store where we got an actual fashion show, runway and everything. Didn’t buy anything, but the runway show was amazing. We saw the Virgin Mary’s home where she lived later in life. A lot of people visiting there were quite emotional, but not us. All in all, a fun eclectic day with Fatima.

We had an exceptionally well organized private tour of Ephesus. Our guide Canan was incredibly nice, helpful, and highly informative.
Canan has extensive knowledge of the archaeological sites and presented the history in a very clear manner. The routing from the Kusadasi port was perfectly planned. We covered the Ancient City of Ephesus, The Virgin Marys House and The Temple of Artemis.
We also visited a local carpet factory where lunch was provided for 20 USD per person. There was some selling involved at the end, but the staff were not super aggressive and there was absolutely no pressure to buy. It remained a good opportunity to learn about the weaving process.
Overall this was a fantastic experience. I strongly recommend booking with Canan!
