My husband really wanted...

My husband really wanted to try surfing while here so we decided to go with this booking, and we both got up so we were not disappointed! The one gentleman that seems to be in charge was excellent to work with and very kind, patient and willing to help when I was certainly not an easy student. However, we both agreed that his partner wasn't as kind and although we know there is a bit of a language barrier, we had stated we wanted English instructors and found that he was not as patient and instead of telling you how to fix things rather just yelled "no lady" which after a while, can become frustrating as a paying customer; luckily my husband is more patient with this, and was actually just disappointed he didn't get to try bigger waves once he got the hang of things. I think this gentleman has great potential, and I'd be excited to see where this company takes him! The only other thing is that the listing said that water is provided, but it was not, tor us at least.

Julia and Mario are...

Julia and Mario are amazing people who care about their community and making surfing accessible and affordable to everyone. The lesson for my 16 and 19 yr olds was outstanding. They are patient, effective and encouraging teachers. Both kids were up within 20 minutes and had a great time despite multiple wipe outs. Highly recommend!

My daughter (18 yo) and I (54 yo) had a wonderful time today. We were beginners and Leo is a great, patient and very encouraging and enthusiastic teacher. He makes sure you're safe and comfortable in the water and are having fun. Don't doubt or look any further, just book a lesson, you absolutely, absolutely won't regret it.

Fun

The dinner preparation was well streamlined. It felt fun - not like work. There were two other families there besides us. There's def something for all ages, but prob not under 3 years old. There was plenty to eat! The meal is their 'typical' food. We were the only ones to stay for the Salsa lesson, so it felt like a private lesson. It was about an hour and was awesome. It was up in a cool loft and was so much fun (even if you have 2 left feet!!).

So much fun!

What a great experience! As an old guy, I have always wanted to try surfing and never did it before. My grandson wanted to take some lessons, so no time like the present. I don't know which of is had more fun!?! The instructors were both awesome, patient, knowing just when to introduce more instructions. Highly recommend!

Iguana Surf is definitely the place to begin your surfing adventure

Iguana Surf didn’t disappoint and definitely lived up to our expectations. The staff were easy to communicate with and the whole business experience was professional and friendly. They were expecting us and check in was fast. Items not needed were put in lockers. Rash guards distributed, boards selected, instructor introductions made and then we were off to the beach. On shore lessons were taught in a quick but thorough manner and it was time to put those lessons to the test. The instructors kept a close eye on the group and helped where needed and constantly offered words of encouragement. Everyone in our group was looking like they had been surfing for more than an hour by lessons end. Great experience that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Tamarindo. Iguana Surf is the place to learn how to surf and lived up to all the reviews I had read. Hats off, literally, to the instructor who let me where his hat while out on the water. It was greatly appreciated. Just another example of how I knew that I had selected a great company to use in my search of beginner surfing. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the instructors names and for that I apologize.

A must book!

Great tour! Our guide Johnny was great at spotting all types of animals and was very knowledgeable. He accommodated our time schedule but still felt like we got our money worth. Also was great at taking pictures of us along the way. The waterfall itself is a decent walk up and down but worth it for the views. At the end of the hike we finished with fresh coconuts from the stand!

Excellent Surf Lesson

We had an incredible surf lesson in Tamarindo, Costa Rica, and our instructor Leandro was absolutely outstanding. He began with clear, classroom-style instruction so we fully understood the fundamentals and, just as importantly, the safety considerations before ever entering the water. That foundation made a huge difference. Leandro worked with both my husband and me, thoughtfully tailoring his coaching to our individual experience and comfort levels. He struck the perfect balance of being patient and kind while also firm and encouraging. I was much slower than my husband to pick up the techniques once we were in the water, but Leandro never gave up on me—and he definitely didn’t let me quit. His encouragement and persistence made all the difference. We had plenty of time in the water to surf and really practice our technique, which made the experience both fun and confidence-building. This was an exceptional lesson and a truly memorable experience. I would highly recommend Leandro to anyone looking to learn or improve their surfing in Tamarindo.
