Great experience; with things to know!
John was a fantastic tour guide for our ATV sunset ride! We started around 2:15 PM, and he was thorough, friendly, and guided us in English. The whole experience felt well-paced, with enough time at each stop to explore and enjoy everything without feeling rushed and not feeling like we’re spending too much time at places.
A few things worth knowing beforehand: You are required to wear a helmet. You’ll be riding the ATVs on regular roads alongside other cars, so this isn’t an off-road or mountain ATV experience. At Hobbitenango, the final stop, the departure time you agree to is set because the vehicles operate on a schedule. If you decide you want to leave earlier, they may not be able to accommodate that, so plan accordingly.
There was also one very short stretch where we got some dust in our faces for a few seconds, so that’s something to keep in mind if you’re particularly sensitive to dust or have any related concerns.
Overall, it was such a fun experience and surprisingly not stressful at all. John made everything easy and enjoyable from start to finish. 10/10 would absolutely do it again!

Amazing honeymoon activity!
We had the best time spending the morning in the Jade workshop. Carlos, Elmer, and Cesar were outstanding and such a pleasure to be around. They were flexible with our booking when we needed to reschedule. They were very sweet when we noted it was our honeymoon. I would recommend anyone in Antigua to do this tour/workshop!

Great excursion!!!
This excursion was really cool!!! Traveling up through the mountains was so beautiful. I wish the time at Hobbitenango was a bit longer, but it was still pretty awesome. Driving on the cobblestone is a challenge, but we still enjoyed it as we got to explore more of Antigua while riding through the town. Our guide made us feel extremely comfortable, got us through the busy-ness of the Antigua streets, and we got to enjoy time as a group getting to know each other. We enjoyed learning about the chocolate/cacao process and the vibe overall. I Highly recommend!!

Amazing hike!
This was an amazing hike! Very intense in the beginning since it's a steep climb, but the views (and the marshmallows) are worth it! Our guide Ervin was great, very knowledgeable and funny too.
PSA: The road to the volcano is pretty winding, so if you get motion sickness easily I'd recommend using a scopolamine patch or taking some Dramamine before.

Better than 5 stars!
We were late flying into Guatemala City, and took additional time getting through customs. It was late, but our driver was waiting with a smile! Very kind and helpful. When we arrived at Antigua, he waited til we unlocked the door, making sure we got inside! A very caring and helpful gentleman!

Amazing experience
This experience was way above my expectations. It was a tough hike, but I was lucky enough to have a fantastic group and an amazing guide Leo, who made sure everything went smooth for everybody. We were a small group of 10 people which was the perfect size to get to know everybody a bit and enjoy the experience to the max.

Incredible once in a lifetime tour
Most beautiful hardest tour I've done in my life. Doable with older adventurous kids (ages 8 and 12). I was not prepared for how rough the trails will be on ATV (I did not have enough off roading experience for this), but our tour guides, Diego and Amy saved the day and put my 8 year old and me as their passengers, allowing us to take in the incredible views and be part of this adventure. Highly recommend!

Went on a Sunday...
Went on a Sunday afternoon and ended up being a private class for me and my friend. Super fun, the only thing I wish we knew was that sundays you don’t go to the market. Honestly, probably the best food we had on the whole trip since we made things that weren’t as commonly found in restaurants. Dario and Victor were amazing and we had such a great time with them and learned so much about the history behind the food. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a cooking class.

Daryl was an amazing guide!
We did this ATV coffee tour the day after we did the ATV sunset tour in Antigua by the same tour agency - Simoon Rentals and Tours. We could not have asked for a better guide who was so knowledgeable and gave us a full rundown on the coffee making process at the coffee farm Finca La Azotea which was in a beautiful setting in Jocotenango, a town just north of Antigua. Initially after visiting the historic coffee farm we were supposed to go to Cerro de La Cruz but we had already covered that during the sunset tour the previous day, so Daryl was kind enough to instead take us to a busy plaza in San Pedro Las Huertas where we could see a cool communal washing station where people would gather to wash clothes together and trade gossip and we also got to understand the process of mining, refining, and designing jade at a nearby family-run jade shop that is 3 generations strong. The pieces were so beautiful and learning about the jade-making process was so informative that we were happy to support them by buying a few pieces from them and their prices are more than fair and don’t overpriced! The shop is named king brothers jades Munro Maya. If you decide to take this your will not regret your time and money spent and I would highly recommend asking for Daryl to be your tour guide as he’s very kind, informative and speaks English very well :)

A Truly Spectaular Experience!
Make no mistake, this is a challenging hike. If you find longer, uphill hikes difficult, maybe reconsider this experience. I will also say there are Porters available to help carry your bags to make it easier (we did not do this). If you can face the challenge, it is truly an unforgettable experience! Seeing Volcan de Fuego erupt was such an amazing thing to see in person. We chose to do the extra hike for about $35/pp and it was completely worth it. We had pouring rain and lightning as we were hiking up, it was still totally worth it and just made viewing the eruptions more dramatic! Once it cleared, we have multiple hours of eruptions that were so cool to watch. I would completely recommend this to anyone considering it!

Navigating on lake Atitlan.
My girlfriend and I had a great time navigating on lake Atitlan. We got to see the beautiful and colorful towns of San Juan, San Pedro, and Santiago. Tourist guides were very friendly and informative. We recommend anyone visiting Guatemala to take this tour.

One of the craziest things I have seen in my life
The hike to base camp is hard but totally worth it. Once we got to the base camp, the view was blocked by clouds but weather changes so fast and could see and hear the volcano. It is so impressive! The hike to Fuego is even harder and you will come back at night, but what an experience! It is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. I didn’t go to the summit in the morning because I was too tired.
The service itself was incredible. Axel, Leo, Lily and 2 other local guides were very careful, kind and professional. Such a good team. We felt safe and cared for at all times. They cooked for us and organized everything so well.
Definitely take the free gear they have to climb and rent hiking sticks.
Oh, and loooots of dogs to pet on the way 😍
Muchas gracias, it will stick with me my whole life.

Antigua, Guatemala, tours run the gamut. To get your adrenaline pumping, opt for an overnight sunrise summit hike of the Acatenango Volcano to safely view the adjacent—and still highly active—Volcán de Fuego. Not an early riser? Buckle your helmet strap and explore the countryside and its mountain villages via ATV sunset tour. For something more laid-back, take a day tour of Lake Atitlán, join a cooking class and market tour, or learn about the locally-produced chocolate and coffee. Whether adventure-driven or culture-centric, each Antigua tour will give you something to talk about.
