Itinerary
Rome has a bounty of things to see and the mix of its architecture is a testament to its past; Roman ruins, baroque squares, and Renaissance gardens combine to give the city its enticing edge. See it all on a Rome hop-on hop-off bus tour, and learn about the Italian capital as you go.
Show your ticket as you board your Rome tour bus, and then hop on and off at any of the stops around town. See the Colosseum where gory gladiatorial battles once took place, and have your camera ready for Piazza Venezia, home to the Vittorio Emanuele II Monument. Throw a coin into the Trevi Fountain for luck, or stretch your legs on a walk through Vatican City.
The full loop lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours, and audio commentary is provided for each sight you pass. Make use of the free onboard Wi-Fi to share pictures, tweet, or blog about your travels as you go.

No buses… No signs… No one answers phone… no chat.. total waste of money and time. Save yourself time and frustration.

This tour was not worth the money. We waited a long time for the bus to actually get going. We stood there for 15 min before the bus would open the door. Then trying to see what the recording was talking about was next to impossible. Half of the boxes for connecting the headphones were broken. I would not recommend this tour.

Great way to see the city. The bus drivers are masterful even when traffic is heavy! Must sit on the top!

The stop nearest our hotel was closed. Stops took an average 15 minutes each and not close to the areas of interest.
Helen_R, Apr 2026
It was informative and easy to hop on hop off.
We found the live tracker useful to see where the buses were when we wanted to hop back on.
It is no good complaining about the Traffic as in Rome do what the Romans do. Have patience!
We enjoyed it and seen many places on the outer areas that we would never have walked too. So for us we are giving the trip a five star rating.

Driver very pleasant.

Very few buses compared to other tour operators. We waited at two stops for over 20 minutes while watching other operators buses come and go. They also skipped a stop so missed part of our tour. Do not use City Sightseeing buses in Rome, go with the Big Bus instead
Donna_M, Apr 2026
Beautiful view of the city. Could not see most of the main attractions from the bus. Colosseum stop was closed. Approximately 30 minute walk

• We’re sorry to hear that you were not fully satisfied with the service. Our itinerary is clearly outlined in all our printed materials and on our website, allowing guests to plan their visit ahead of time
Daniel_S, Apr 2026
Can't fault City Sightseeing but the idea of the bus in Rome is really not worth it. The main sights are all within areas this bus cannot reach and very walkable even with my arthritis. Also the day we booked was the 2026 Marathon and was even less to see.
The way the tour is given is also very dated

We are sorry to read that you are not completely satisfied with our service. Our pick-up and drop-off points are regularly approved by the municipality in order to preserve the beauty of our UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Frances_L, Mar 2026
It was great. There were fewer stops because of construction, but got to see what we wanted to see. Just be sure you get the right ticket to get on and off as ours didn’t allow it.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
We appreciate you choosing our service for your journey to Italy. Your comments will help other travelers in planning their experience!
Elena_G, Mar 2026
The overall experience was very positive. The fact that you see the sites comfortably seated on a bus gives you time to later experience them on foot.

Manfred_K, Mar 2026
The bus was easy to find and on time. Well worth the time.
The bus had narration throughout in many languages.
Don't forget your plug in ear phones.
If you do forget, they will supply some very cheap ones. Still better than nothing.

Did not end up using cuz not enough activation spots. I did not have time and energy to activate at airport.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
We regret reading your review, as it does not match the quality standards our clients consistently experience.
you can activate the ticket at any bus stop and we don't have a stop at the airport.
anyway, our map is on available on every website
Janet_H, Mar 2026
This used to be a really good way to see Rome but we were very disappointed this time. We spent 2 hours on a single trip, mostly sitting in traffic, which is caused by many roadworks around the city and sheer volume of traffic. At the Vatican stop we waited 40 minutes for a bus, on another occasion. I would not use it again as so much time is wasted.

We’re sorry to read your comment; however, it does not reflect the quality standards that our customers consistently confirm every day.
Fran_X, Mar 2026
It’s a terrible experience. Only took two stops of it. When in the bus the service was good. If it out of bus, you can’t expect the time it’s coming. Give up after multiple tries. Finished the touring by feet.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
We’re sorry to read about your experience. However, our stops are clearly indicated on our online and printed maps, as well as on our official app, where you can also track the real-time location of the buses to better manage waiting times at the stops
Gary_S, Mar 2026
Allow more time then we had. Because of time constraints, we only had a couple of hours. Did get to see what was promised, it would have been nice if we could have gotten off and explored in depth.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Thank you for choosing our service for your trip to Italy. every bus has a frequence of 30 minutes in order to help customers to get off and explore.
Mark_L, Mar 2026
Worthwhile views of the city also giving opportunities to see where we could visit. However, one stop Colesseum was closed which meant a long walk to the next. Very busy as well.

Wasn’t good experience, we left after few stops because it was stopping so frequently that we did not manage to see anything and decided to walk by foot . No guide was available, no information was provided at all

We had a very rainy day during our trip to Rome but we didn’t want to stay indoors all day, so this was a good option. However, it can get a bit crowded in the lower level because the upper level isn’t fully covered, which means it’s very cold, wet, and windy. The worst aspect was that there were far too many wait periods, where the bus idled at stops for 20+ minutes (not only at the Roma Termini stop, and not indicated on the map/schedule). This was a big waste of time, the bus operation schedule was very unclear, and the bus tracker was useless. We were only able to do 2 loops (one regular loop, plus one Jubilee line loop) with the 1 Day ticket, so if you think of this purely as a transportation option, it is expensive and inefficient. But since it was the rainy low season the buses weren’t crowded, so we were able to rest and dry off while being transported, which made for a good experience overall.

The stops are too far from each other, the stop at the Colosseum was closed. Some of the audio machines were not working. Buses were too full we had to wait for the next one.

Rodney_H, Nov 2025
This was the winter route so the stops may have been a little farther apart. But they partnered with another system that had 4 extra stops. This closed the gap on some areas but this bus only ran on the hour so there was a longer wait time between pickups. Still it was a good value. We had 72 hours so we were able tour Rome sites very well.
Selma_C, Nov 2025
The one day we were supposed to use hop on hop off bus it was not circulating due to marathon for hours we lost half a day I really wish this was posted on date I purchased had to pay for Ubers because they just were not coming to stops we kept going to different stops and nothing to waste of my money
Isabel_B, Nov 2025
Very entertaining experience and good audio tour.
You get an overall idea of the main areas and monuments.
HENSON_G, Oct 2025
Few buses compared to its competitor. Difficult to locate bus stop even using the app. Clean buses and safe drivers.
Michelle_G, Oct 2025
Traffic in Rome is so crazy that the bus went only about 6 stops in one hour! We finally got off and walked all over. The headphones are very inexpensive so half the time it didn't work very well and we couldn't understand that much. We've taken HoHo tours in many cities and they have always been enjoyable. The day was very pleasant but they had the roof on so unless you were sitting right on the side, you couldn't see any of the sights. Very disappointing

I’m not sure if this is the best option when it comes to buses, it’s the only one we tried, if you do get it, just get one day, get familiar with Rome using it and then walk around or do the golf tour the next day, worth the money! Traffic in Rome is a problem!

The buses well worth doing. I’ll do the traffic is very bad around Rome city you still go around slowly and see all the beautiful sites and listen to the history on the earphone.
