We start our visit at Monte Brasil, enjoying a panoramic view over the city of Angra do Heroísmo at the Pico das Cruzinhas viewpoint. We continue along the east coast towards Fajã do Ficher, with a panoramic view over the Cabras Islets. A little further we will go to Salga Bay and Mós Bay, which were places with a big importance in the history of Terceira. The next stop is the village of São Sebastião, which has one of the oldest churches on the island. After this stop we go towards the city of Praia da Vitória, where we will stop at the Serra do Facho viewpoint, that offers a privileged view over the city. Finally, we go up to the Serra do Cume viewpoint, where we can see the famous ‘Manta de Retalhos’, the largest caldera in the Azores.

The trail is situated in the centre of Terceira island and along the way we will observe the endemic flora of the Azores, large pastures and even some of the island´s fauna. Today's main attraction is “Rocha de Chambre ", a vertical wall located at 708m above sea level with a splendid view over Azinhal valley, Pico Alto. After this climb, time to admire the view from the Pico das Caldeirinhas and Pico Vermelho volcanic caldera. The last part of the trail passes along a dry stone wall in an area dominated by Azorean heather, an endemic floral specie. After lunch, time to get amazed with Algar do Carvão, a volcanic chimney that is, without doubt, the best known volcanic cave in the Azores. This trail takes us into the interior of Terceira Island, passing through some of the highest points in our island - up to 2600ft - walking through amazing japonese cedar plantations and native vegetation, making the viewpoints mesmerizing! Dare to try out the best we have for an afternoon. First, we go to heaven, driving by car to Serra da Ribeirinha. An amazing view of the city, the Monte Brasil volcano, and Vila de São Mateus. On most days, you may even be surprised to see the island of São Jorge and the island of Pico with its imposing mountain. A few steps and you have a view of Ilhéu das Cabras islet , Fradinhos islet, and the entire south coast, lots of cows, and green fields with typical dry-stone walls. Descended and began the path to the depths of the earth on this visit to Algar do Carvão. An ancient dormant volcano, in this Algar visitors can descend to a depth of around 330 feet (100 meters). A few more minutes on the road and we visit the fumaroles. Now it's time to catch your breath and head to a winery to taste the famous volcanic wine and discover how these unique people were able to find an ingenious way to transform stone into wine. The final will be at the Biscoitos Natural Pools. 37 Miles (60 Km).
