Itineraries for Your Trip to Seminyak
2 Days in Seminyak for First Timers
Thanks to its abundance of bohemian charm and beachfront glamor, Seminyak is the ideal place to base yourself for your Bali vacation. When I first visited, I’d been exploring off-the-beaten-path parts of Java (the huge Indonesian island beside Bali) for a month, so I was long overdue for some creature comforts—which this bougie beach resort delivers by the bucketload.
Two days in Seminyak lets you experience both sides of south Bali; you’ll be able to visit glamorous beach bars and feast on elevated Indonesian dishes and also soak up culture and nature while visiting rice terraces, temples, and world-class snorkel spots. Here’s how to spend 48 hours in Seminyak.
If you only have time for one thing, make it snorkeling in the Blue Lagoon; Bali’s marine life is second to none.
For fewer crowds, visit Seminyak in February and March; there are still short rain showers, but the beaches are much quieter.
Back in Seminyak, spend this afternoon admiring the golden sands of Seminyak Beach on horseback. Guided rides offer options for all levels of experience, so you can opt for a trot or a gallop. Alternatively, if you’d rather stay closer to the ground, you can explore the beachfront on an electric bike tour.

Tonight is all about experiencing Bali’s food scene. Instead of picking just one spot, zip between local favorites on a motorbike so you can sample a seasonal selection of dishes, including highlights such as gado gado (vegetable salad with satay sauce), nasi goreng (fried rice); and deep-fried tempeh (soybean cake).
On your second day, wake well before the sun to ascend Mt. Batur (Gunung Batur), one of Bali’s highest volcanoes; an early start means you’ll arrive at the summit in time to watch the sunrise over the Kintamani highlands. Back in town, head to Jalan Raya, Seminyak’s main shopping street, for a well-deserved Balinese massage.
After a quick nap, it’s time to get back out to south Bali’s lush countryside. Hop aboard an ATV and tackle terrain that traditional tour vehicles can’t as you go hurtling through the jungle, past rice terraces and waterfalls. If your appetite for adventure still isn’t sated, opt for a white-water rafting experience on the Ayung River.
After an intense sightseeing schedule, tonight it’s time to relax and experience a picture-perfect Seminyak sunset. Board a catamaran to sail on the Indian Ocean while enjoying a buffet dinner. Lastly, round out your sojourn with a cocktail at a popular beach club such as Potato Head or Ku De Ta.
