Itineraries for Your Trip to Ibiza
1 Day in Ibiza for First Timers
Ibiza is popular for its infamous party scene, home to major nightclubs, sunset lounges, and lively pubs. But the Spanish island offers so much more, from hidden beaches to memorable hikes and a budding wellness culture. Whether dancing from dusk to dawn or waking at dawn for a seafront yoga class and an organic smoothie, Ibiza’s offerings mean you can enjoy a trip filled with nightlife, outdoor exploration, farm-to-table cuisine, or soul-searching activities—or all of the above.
However, with just one day in Ibiza, you’ll need to get savvy with your planning to see and do as much as possible, as the island is large and often has heavy traffic, especially in summer's busy season. Here’s what to do in Ibiza if you have 24 hours to explore the island.
If you only have time for one thing, make it a boat tour to explore the island's sandy coves.
Ibiza has the best weather from May to October, where you can swim in the ocean and laze in the Spanish sunshine. Pack sunblock, a hat, and mosquito repellent.
Start your day in Ibiza with a visit to Ibiza Town, the whitewashed capital of the island, where you can wander through hippy markets and cute boutiques or visit the centuries-old Ibiza Castle, which soars over the town for a quick dose of history and memorable views. Or, opt for a moment of serenity with a yoga class overlooking the sea, followed by a tasty brunch or coffee at a local joint.
Soak in the sunny island ambiance with a visit to some of Ibiza’s most famous beaches. Although you can brave the traffic and hilly roads to discover the island’s best calas (coves), the easier option is to cruise to cover more ground (or water!). Whether it’s a sailing moment, a boozy catamaran experience, or a glass-bottom boat tour, you can customize your time out on the sea to stop at pristine beaches, snorkel, indulge in unlimited drinks, or simply admire Ibiza’s beachy, pine-covered landscape.
As day turns to night, it’s time to experience a colorful Ibiza sunset. Opt for a sunset cruise, hike to Es Vedra Rock, or choose a beach bar, such as Café del Mar, where you can watch the sky change hues, cocktail in hand. Then, decide what type of dinner works for your vacation vibes: a fancy restaurant where all the cool kids hang out or traditional Ibicenco-style tapas (try sobrasada, a savory local sausage), followed by beers in San Antonio or dancing until sunrise at a club like Pachá Ibiza or Hï Ibiza.
