When to visit

With warm, tropical weather and rainy summers prone to storms and typhoons, it’s best to visit Zhuhai in the spring or fall for the most pleasant weather. In springtime, the city’s many parks and green areas bloom with flowers, while November–April offer the best oysters. Expect the largest crowds during major Chinese holidays, including Chinese New Year and the weeklong national holidays in May and October. Airshow China, the largest air show in the country, is held in November.

Getting around

Zhuhai is covered by a good network of public buses, including a few sightseeing bus lines. Taxis are plentiful and cheap, though few drivers speak English. Alternatively, you can rely on rideshare apps such as DiDi. Bikeshares, too, are available, and some travelers prefer biking in the largely flat city and down Lovers' Road. Ferries also connect some of the many islands around Zhuhai. While there is a tram line, it is set to be dismantled.

Traveler tips
