Buy this experience because it was in English. Completely worth it! Our guide Andy was so nice with us and showed us everything we had to see and also drove us to a typical restaurant on our way back. Even if it was so crowded, he made the tour in the opposite direction of the rest of the tourists so it was almost empty (perfect photos).
A day with Emily in the rice terraces and long hair village
We were met in our hotel lobby by Emily. She is a bubbly, intelligent guide whose English is extremely good. We immediately felt a connection which only got stronger as the day went on. Our driver was very experienced and we felt very safe the entire day.
We drove 2 hours to the Huangluo Long Hair Village where we watched the women perform their show and let down their long hair (most have hair longer than themselves). My husband and I both went on stage at different times. I won’t spoil it by telling you why. Just embrace it and go with he flow 😊
Back in the car we then drove to a village where we walked a short distance to have lunch. We had a fabulous feast and tried the bamboo rice and creek snails. Would highly recommend both.
After lunch we continued to walk to the Longji Rice Terraces. Although there were no rice plants, the terraces were spectacular. We were able to walk through them at a pace we felt comfortable with.
We then took the golf cart back down the mountain (we could have walked) before hopping back in the car for the 2 hour trip home.
Emily gave us so much information during this tour which we could not have known if we did this outside of a tour. We spent the day laughing, eating, talking politics and sharing stories of our families and way of life. This tour with Emily is not to be missed. We made some wonderful memories and feel we made a good friend. Would highly recommend doing this one ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you Emily 😘
Great excursion full of beautiful landscapes. The rice terraces are truly something you can’t miss while in Guilin. The trip included pick up from the hotel. Our guide Hill was really good and helped constantly to facilitate tickets, orderings and payments. Pleasant cable car to the top of the mountain and a visit to a traditional village where ladies never cut their hair. The show in the traditional village, entry to the park, cable car and lunch are not included in the price so that’s something you should consider (about 350 yuans more).
The show at the cultural village was excellent as it was the lunch and the walking in the rice fields. There were a lot of passion fruit and motinggao (some chinese medical plant) sellers. I would recommend to anyone that is passing by Guillin. Like everywherein China don't expect any extra favours from your guide. It was with great difficulty and after a lot of negotiations that I managed to persuade them to help me buy a SIM card.Yet I couldn't persuade them to unblock my WeChat account,so I couldn't leave my luggage at any station in China. In some places there were some shops next to the station that accepted them only for some hours. Take your heed also as the guide will try to persuade you to eat at her favourite restaurant and buy tea from her favourite tea producer, telling you that this is the only hygienic place. In China you can eat the food at any place without getting stomach problems-it is not like in India.
