Starting with a short language lesson, I will then cover Polish geography, climate and interesting facts. We will spend some time talking about Polish history, World War II, Solidarity movement and changes that took place in Poland in 1989 and helped the country transition to democracy. Moving on, we will learn about Polish wedding traditions, by watching a video of my brother’s wedding. There are 16 Holidays in Poland, and I will talk about one of the favorites, the All Saints Day. At the end, we will try the famous homemade pierogi and share the recipe how to make them.

A brewery, a table full of dough and the promise of homemade dumplings? That’s already a pretty solid plan for an evening in Milwaukee. This hands-on cooking class turns dumpling making into something social, approachable and surprisingly relaxing. Chef Marty guides you through every step, making complete beginners feel like they’ve been secretly making dumplings for years. You’ll prepare fresh dumpling dough from scratch, mix a flavorful beef filling with garlic, ginger and spring onions and learn folding techniques that make every dumpling look better than the last. Then it’s time to cook. You’ll discover how to cook handmade dumplings for the perfect texture before creating a homemade dipping sauce to serve alongside them. Between the sizzling pans, the aroma of ginger and garlic and the first bite of a dumpling you made yourself, the whole experience feels equal parts dinner party and useful life skill. You leave full, happy and equipped with a recipe you'll want to make again.
