Top Trier Self-guided Tours

Trier becomes the crime scene in this self-guided detective game, where the clues are hidden in plain sight in the streets around you. The case is the murder of Balthasar, and the evidence is scattered across the old centre - past Judengasse, Liebfrauenkirche, Steipe and Dreikönigenhaus. You decode messages, photograph what does not add up and press digital witnesses whose stories never quite line up. Every puzzle you crack removes a name from the list of suspects. Play as a couple, bring the children along, or send two or three teams out at the same time and turn the investigation into a race - which is what makes this murder mystery game work as well for a team outing as for a day out. The last answer is waiting somewhere in the centre of Trier.

Trier is Germany's oldest city — and in this outdoor escape game, its old town becomes the playing field. You'll follow young Markus Aurelius into Roman Trier in the year 310 AD and help him uncover the secret surrounding his uncle, a wealthy merchant with a problem he won't confide to anyone. Every puzzle is tied to a real location: you start at the Porta Nigra, follow the trail through the city centre and finish at the Imperial Baths. Along the way you'll learn things about Trier that aren't in any guidebook. What makes this tour special: it was handwritten exclusively for Trier — no generic content that would work anywhere. There's no fixed start time and no guide. You begin whenever you like, set your own pace and can pause at any point. One access code covers the whole team, and everyone plays along on their own phone. No app to install — it all runs in the browser.
