Costa Rica has some of the best spearfishing spots in Central America—if you have the required gear and know-how. This small-group introductory spearfishing is ideal for beginners who want to get a foundation in water sports. After meeting your instructors at the diving school, head to the boat to learn everything you need to know to dive and catch your own dinner: diving techniques, speargun use and safety, how to choose and stalk fish, and other secrets of the sport.

Spend half a day fishing for Mahi Mahi, yellowfin tuna and wahoo along the Pacific Coast. Hopefully you’ll catch some strong ones, and maybe even be able to have them for dinner! The tour is about 5 hours, and all the fishing equipment and bait are organized for you, so all you need to do is look out for dolphins, rays, turtles, and possibly even whales!

Paddle out to Capitan Island in Las Baulas National Marine Park on a kayak with this tour from Tamarindo Beach.
